The time from announcing an election to polling day in the UK is fixed. There's none of this years long horror show that the US has. So this was not lightning fast, it's just standard. Ordinary.
And the amazing part is that The UK actually requires ID to vote. And they only allow Mail-In-Voting if you are outside of the country at election time. Strange concept, you have to wonder how that would work in The U.S.
