Cool. Just stumbled upon your 'second' channel! I love my SSG3000 (7.62×51mm NATO) as well. Wicked accurate. Mine is paired with a Leupold Mark 4 scope. Use it for hunting and target shooting mostly. My longest kill (white tail deer, stationary across a valley, broadside) was 483m (528yd.)
Just pick one up today like new in the USA for less than $2500. It shot 3/8” group @100 yards with Federal Premium 168gr I Think it was BTHP Match. Only thing missing are the extra Grip pieces
Steyr makes some really really nice firearms. But here in USA when one says "Mannlicher", you are refering to a very specific model Steyr Bolt Action rifle w/ a barrel length of 18-20 inches with a full barrel length stock. Now both that I have handled had a "Butter Bolt" , the bolt is shaped like spoon or butter knife, no knob. The older one was from the late 1920's or 1930's. It had the hammered barrel. A beautiful gun but tough to get ammo for as it was in a european caliber and my fathers friend (who was a gunsmith) had to make his own . The newwer one was 1965 Steyr Daimler Pugh w/ a regular round barrel in .30-06 (pronouced: .30-{ott}6 in America ... not {oh}). Now, at 0.35 sec, the 3rd rifle in front of you in the display case is what we call a "Mannlicher". FYI: every time you shoot that gun ... thank the Mauser Brothers as that is basically a Mauser bolt ... also same as the 1903 .30-06 Springfield. Most bolt action rifles are based on a "Mauser" bolt. FYI 2: The .308 cartridge has overtaken the .30-06 cartridge as the most popular cartridge recently world-wide. (You may want to research the differences between the .30-06 and the .308 ... same bullet, slightly different cartridge casing. With the newwer powders you can load a .30-06 to be very close to the .308, then it gets to be about the quality of the barrel ) Good Choice ... means you can purchase cartridges ... unlike my father's friend who modified/machined another empty cartridge casing and hand loaded his hunting cartridges. (so you didn't take it to the "range" and fire 100 rounds for practice, just enough to "sight" it in, you shot a different rifle in a caliber that you could easily purchase at the range.) Enjoy that beautiful firearm ... love your smile when you are shooting ... Peace
Nope it doesn't mean a certain model here in USA at all. It is a brand, an Austrian brand. Model can be any of dozens they have made. M1895, M1890, SSG08, SSG2000, SSG3000, M1888, etc. Brand can be the Mannlicher-Schönauer, Mannlicher or Steyr-Mannlicher, amongst a few others.
Steyr is known for their cold hammer forged barrels. Some of their rifles will still exhibit the ridges & valleys left from the hammer process. Does the safety block the firing pin or just the trigger movement? What chart were you using for your scope adjustments? By the way, that's good shooting.
The shots she was taking were at the test range and the instructor was telling her how many clicks. Sadly the idea of using a " sniper " rifle for hunting rabbits is a little much.

Nothing a Gunsmith would do to Accurize it but something an ordinary person could do themselves .. . I purchased it on advise from the salesman as a good Deer Rifle for my 20 year old Son .. . I liked it so much I bought him another 670 in 243 he wanted One his Wife could also use she is very Petite 105lbs .. . Myself if you are within 900 meters of Me and in my cross hairs Well you should not be .. . My Family is First If you have Screwed Up then you are way down near the bottom on my aaah Happily List .. . Another Face I see in my nightmares will be Ok too .. . On Occasion I still see every Face I pulled the Trigger on .. .

I've got three Styer rifles. Hunting, Scout and SSG. Outstanding machines. I especially love the scout. So fast and accurate.
