    I can not believe what I just watched. You’ve got a pulley, use it for the mechanical advantage. By hooking the pulley to a tree you gained nothing but a direction change. Pulley needed to be hooked to the stuck skidded. Winching skidded wirerope goes through pulley and back to itself. 2 to 1 mechanical advantage.

      Hello from Australia, you are correct the snatch block should have been attached to the bogged skidder.

    • @scarsman
      @scarsman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True, that works if you have enough cable. It appears they used the block to place the winching machine facing down hill, since it was pulling itself backwards on the first try, where it was facing up hill. If they double lined it with the winch uphill, it would just pull it backwards even easier unless you had something big to anchor it to. It takes a lot of line once you start double or triple line rigging.

      If its s 5,000# machine ...you don't use a 3,000# snatch block...then act surprised when it fails ...plus mud adds twice or 3 times the weight of the machine...so next time ( and there will be one ) double or triple your winch cable to pull out a stuck machine....
      Good luck ...

    You can use the wiggle the steering and use grapple to get yourself unstuck I’m not sure if you know how or not but it would’ve less stress on the cable

    • @chadkemper
      @chadkemper  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's a good technique when it works. We were able to use the steering wheel at first, but this mud got so tacky that we quickly lost the ability to move the steering cylinders and couldn't even use the blade to push machine up at the end. We also found out while we were in the hole that our diff locks weren't working. We fixed that situation immediately once we got the machine out. Thanks for watching and we hope you will continue!
