Slipknot is just one of those bands that you think are weird if you're not used to it.. All it takes is liking one song to end up liking them all. They're class.
That breakdown is one of the best I've ever heard. The background vocals with the start of the main lyrics is tight; never heard a natural vocal layering/doubling like that before.
Absolutely one of Slipknot's best songs. Like you said, multi layered with meaning and something we have never seen before as well as something we will probably never see again. The essence of creativity.
if you loved classic mid 90's slipknot this is like opening a time capsule and them returning to their roots(meaning they always find ways to reinvent themselves) THIS is classic slipknot energy. Btw the keg will forever be one of the craziest instruments thats ever been used in a band to positive effect.
The keg is a staple in their songs. But the drummer is just out of this world and it’s a damn shame they let him go. Really good guy met him one and he was all about meeting a fan I’ll say that much.
"Metal Rap" as you said is called "Nu Metal". It's a metal genre that uses a lot of hip hop elements like rapping and beat. Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, and many others were major mainstream pioneers of this genre in the 90's and early 2000's. Slipknot has always been a Nu Metal band that has switched between Metal Core and Nu Metal constantly.
ปีที่แล้ว +3
and before nu metal there were rapmetal like Clawfinger... in the late 90's. And i really want a reaction to their biggest the best song.. and one more, but no youtuber want to do that. :D
Slipknot has done more than numetal & metalcore, alt rock, acoustic rock, sometimes close to death metal. Usually very eclectic, very loud metal bands that dabble in metal/rock genres get called Extreme Metal, and Slipknot has definitely transcended the Nu-Metal label, as have most of the better bands of that era
Slipknot "rapping" isn't anything new - they were at the forefront of the Nu-Metal scene. Korn and Kottonmouth Kings for instance were one side of the spectrum, while Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park were at the other end of the spectrum. Slipknot was always right in the middle, which is probably why they've enjoyed their longevity.
the bridge section is so cool.....if you read them you will see both a linear lyric thing, and a chanting thing that actually is a complete sentence vertically...hard to explain, just gotta read it...
Allow me. Read the bits in parentheses going down, and you'll get the lyric in question: (Why) was it easy for you (Did) I deserve the abuse (I) can't believe I let it (Not) what I wanted (See) through your bullshit (Your)'e so dramatic (True) to your (Face) every consequence (Un)intimidated (Til) the very end (It)'ll never happen (Was) it all a lie (Too) many motherfuckin' (Late) That's what you do best! (Lie) That's what you do best! (Lie) That's what you do best!!! The syncopation of beat and lyric here is also genius.
As Triple Four has pointed out, Nu Metal was huge around the turn of the millennium and into the early 2000's. Nero Forte is nearly a "throwback" to Slipknot (self titled), Iowa and even a few tracks from Subliminal Verses. Basically, Ray, you are getting old school Slipknot to some degree, with Corey's frenetic delivery of the verses. The song title is nearly tongue in cheek if you break it down- Nero, the Emperor who watched Rome burn, and forte, someone's strong point- really drives home that Corey no longer has affection for the ex he wrote this about.
BTW, Shawn has always utilized a keg as one of his percussive instruments. Despite the fact he has developed carpal tunnel from the bashing over the years, it's a staple sound that is found in many Slipknot tracks.
If you dive deeper into their older stuff the rap elements wouldn't be quite as surprising, they have always had strong "rap metal" elements in their music. That's why a lot of long time fans were so excited about this album, in a sense it was more similar to their original style.
This was one of my favorites off this album. I would love if you checked out some Mudvayne if you get the chance. If you want to start where everyone else does, do Dig. If you want some guttural screams and clean vocals, Death Blooms and Severed are the way to go.
I agree with you. Part of what I love about Slipknot is the musical variety. I hear many people wish they stuck to their old sound from the first three albums, and while I understand change is hard to deal with and I love those first 3 albums, I personally love music and the wide variety of thier sound keeps me coming back for more. Just this maggot's $0.02.
i did not know that listening to slipknot can really hurt your neck.... THE HEADBANGING IS REAL. now i'm in the hospital (not for the neck, but for therapy... i can't stop listening to slipknot) HELP!!!!!
when I was broken hearted My emotions makes me feel depressed and when I remember this song I tried to listen it and It helps me to not to feel my emotions and I realized something that listening to hardrock music will help you not to feel the emotions problems
I love their songs so much because when ur watching the videos you think they’re really evil and might be demonic but if you just close your eyes and listen and understand you’ll see they have a good meaning
Taylor spits a few bars every now and then. If you wanna hear a cool one from them that has wrapped in it, I highly suggest “Slipknot - Spit It Out (live at Download).”
Mick's eyes are panty droppers.. I do it all the time.. It shows a controlled aggression. That breakdown tho... when they are just jamming... Gives me chills.
@rayactions Ray! You mentioned metal rapping 🤪 I believe the pioneers of that sound were Rage Against the Machine 🤪 try the song Wake Up… It definitely has a powerful message like all of their songs, and is quite emotional. If you like it, there are plenty of other RATM songs that you can react to. They are an incredibly talented band!
The whole keg thing isn't just a video thing for Slipknot, they use them for their live shows to, you really should react to something live from them to see just how great they truly are!
Throughout their discography Corey Taylor has always injected and weaved hip hop flows when he does his vocals. Some songs feature it subtly and some songs more prominently.
I Will Find You by Whitechapel has a similar use of the first words of each line in the chorus that spells the title to the track, highly recommend checking that song out
Actually, Slipknot's entire self-titled, first album - and a lot of "IOA", their second album, as well - had a lot of aggressive Metal rap on it. That's what they were known for until they started bringing in a lot more melodic elements into their music. So the Rap thing isn't new at all to Slipknot. They have elements of it now but the first two albums had the most aggressive "Rapping" on them. Listen to the very first song, "Sic," on the first album, and "The Heretic" from their second album, "IOA". You'll hear that they've been doing that Rap thing from the start.
I wasn't big fan of this song when album was released. WANYK had so many good songs that this one disappear for me. Now in 2023 I love this song, but still Not Long For This World and Solway Firth are my favs from WANYK.
The best growl rap hands down is Amaranthe's BOOM1! not even close I love Corey Taylor but GG6 has him beat. Plus the video has zombies being slaughtered what's not to love lol
Fun fact: I shook Mick's hand 17 years ago and it still hurts to this day.
😂😂😂
@rayactions off topic, but a song you could react to is adrenaline by shinedown. If you haven't already, it's more of a rocky song
I bet. The dude is huge lol
@@TillerG7 Yeah, He's pretty damn tall.
@@OttonDerringer I think he's like 6'7 lmao he's actually terrifyingly tall
Slipknot is just one of those bands that you think are weird if you're not used to it.. All it takes is liking one song to end up liking them all. They're class.
First song was phycological.. Now I like most of the songs .. True story
Fr man, I was not a fan until I got hooked on this song and then 3 months later they were my favorite band...still are 3 years later
Duality got me into Slipknot having never liked metal beforehand now I love it
First was duality and then I like most of there songs... so yes
started with psychosocial and now i listen to full albums
Such an underrated song.
That breakdown is one of the best I've ever heard. The background vocals with the start of the main lyrics is tight; never heard a natural vocal layering/doubling like that before.
And all the background words togheter forms a phrase
Absolutely one of Slipknot's best songs. Like you said, multi layered with meaning and something we have never seen before as well as something we will probably never see again. The essence of creativity.
🎉🎉❤❤
This with headphones sounds so freaking awesome
Them changing their sound regularly is a real testament to the fact they are extremely talented musicians. 🤘🏻💥🔥🙏🏻💯
And how well they're able to reinvent themselves, reflected on the ever-changing masks.
if you loved classic mid 90's slipknot this is like opening a time capsule and them returning to their roots(meaning they always find ways to reinvent themselves) THIS is classic slipknot energy. Btw the keg will forever be one of the craziest instruments thats ever been used in a band to positive effect.
Their Jim "Roots" haha kill me
@@localjedi7125💀
That first 20 seconds to open the song goes so hard. Gets you so hyped up and ready to explode
The keg is a staple in their songs. But the drummer is just out of this world and it’s a damn shame they let him go. Really good guy met him one and he was all about meeting a fan I’ll say that much.
5:14 I never noticed that wow. I've been listening to that song since it got released
this is song is amazing, I saw it live in Paris in 2020. Your reaction is very great (as always), Slipknot is always a good band to react
"Metal Rap" as you said is called "Nu Metal". It's a metal genre that uses a lot of hip hop elements like rapping and beat. @ZoltanVeghSzef why do they have a song titled after a racial slir.
I love the middle part of this song so much! What a switch up. The album this song is off of is one of their best, top 3 for me.
Solway Firth is another banger off this album, would be a great song to react to 👀

The syncopation of beat and lyric here is also genius.
She legit saw that in the video
SlipKnot is a band who represents therapy but free. When you listen to them, you forget about all the bad things that’s happened in your lifetime
I never heard that hidden message until I watched this
Fucking love this song
Thank you! I been a Slipknot fan since I was a kid and this is my favorite song. I never caught the hidden message! That is awesome
BRILLIANT delivers as usual, love the drumline
It goes so hard when they all headbang together 🤘
Fuck yeah that part is so awesome.
Nero Forte is addicting. Slipknot is addicting.
As Triple Four has pointed out, Nu Metal was huge around the turn of the millennium and into the early 2000's. Also, "Nero" means "black" and "forte" means "strong". So it's may refering to color - strong black.
I still get goosebumps everytime I hear this song.
This song will never get boring, this song is legit how my soul rocks out down to my core....it's perfection and it can never be loud enough!
1:53 RIP MY EARDRUMS
Thanks for reacting to this song it is my favorite from that album.

The way she said “mick 😈”
Not sure why they shafted All Out Life from this album but you should listen to it.
finally you react this masterpiece😌
I agree with you. Part of what I love about Slipknot is the musical variety.

You're officially my brother from now on 🔥🤘🤘🤘
My plague please. I hope you can make a video reaction about that song.
..."metal rap"... "haven't seen this from slipknot before"...
...gosh I'm old...
Best "Rap Metal" Slipknot songs:
1: Only One
2: Spit It Out
3: No Life
Would love to to watch your reaction to a Iowa album song!! Keep up the great work ❤
Honestly, I think this whole album is pretty goated.
Taylor spits a few bars every now and then. If you wanna hear a cool one from them that has wrapped in it, I highly suggest “Slipknot - Spit It Out (live at Download).”
Best Slipknot song ever imo
First slipknot song i listened to was psychosocial, my mom was the one that showed me the song
Also at 5:14 i never noticed that
Your face when you watch them cracks me up.
Shes back to slipknot😮
It's really fun to watch your facial expressions change
Mick's eyes are panty droppers.. I do it all the time.. It shows a controlled aggression. That breakdown tho... when they are just jamming... Gives me chills.
You got that right. I love his beautiful blue eyes.
If you wanna hear slipknot rap listen to 'Spit it Out'. Unironically a beast of a song too.
@rayactions Ray! You mentioned metal rapping 🤪 I believe the pioneers of that sound were Rage Against the Machine 🤪 try the song Wake Up… It definitely has a powerful message like all of their songs, and is quite emotional. This is the best slipknot chorus ever
Heavenly bridge🎉 its so hype and the music video makes it better
it's not different. you just called it in the beginning metal rap. metal rap is called nu metal which was started mainly by korn as well as slipknot
I want to see you react to Left Behind from them, raw and brutal Slipknot
The whole keg thing isn't just a video thing for Slipknot, they use them for their live shows to, you really should react to something live from them to see just how great they truly are!
This song would have fit in perfectly anywhere on the Iowa album
Being at a show and locking eyes with Mick's stare definitely has a different vibe lol
love it! There's a lot of "thrash' flavor in this...instrumentally anyway...
Throughout their discography Corey Taylor has always injected and weaved hip hop flows when he does his vocals. Some songs feature it subtly and some songs more prominently.
their debut album has alot of rap/metal style
Who's here to see all band headbangin' together?
Nero Forte means Strong Black in Itallian, they perporsely went full "phsycho" on this one to say "We still got it" to the doubters .
I Will Find You by Whitechapel has a similar use of the first words of each line in the chorus that spells the title to the track, highly recommend checking that song out
This song is amazing truly my anthem

IOA? It's Iowa
I still miss Jay
I still miss Craig
Same man and Chris and Craig 🤘🏼❤️
Yeah doesn't feel the same anymore without them now
Paul and Joey too, w/o disrespect to Jay and V-Man@@number3570
How have you not heard them rap? It's one of the biggest things they're known for.
The song is about the separation between Corey and partner.
It’s funny because this sounds like a throwback to the Iowa album.
After you read "I like horses upside down" you'll never listen the chorus in the same way again
Cory was going / had been through a bitter divorce when he wrote the lyrics to this track. Just to give a bit of context.
Rey says new sound to them, but it sounds like a normal slipknot song to me
Slipknot Nero forte🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👹
This isn’t different, it’s back to their roots
I've listened to this song quite a lot and never noticed the lyric thingy
Metal+Rap= Nu Metal. Literally what they do.
I actually think this album was very good. It was a nice throwback to the first two.
Corey rapping is nothing new, it's the clean melodic vocal in the chorus that different.
Waiting for the best reaction... The Negative One... Also, like the reactions.
Love this track
Spit it out is such a good song to look at for the metal/rap mix or better yet listen to Wither by Tech N9ne featuring corey taylor
You are soo beatiful, one more subscriber
Does she know Corey Taylor is the lead singer of slipknot and stone sour
I do!! 🔥
On that note look into somebody stole my eyes by stone sour
Spit it out next for slipknot with lyrics up but do live
I wasn't big fan of this song when album was released. WANYK had so many good songs that this one disappear for me. Now in 2023 I love this song, but still Not Long For This World and Solway Firth are my favs from WANYK.
Highly recommend to react, JINJER PISCES " METAL BAND
A7X BEAST AND HARLOT
The pauses on the breakdown… 😢
1:52 that’s why it’s started as Nu Metal 🤘 😂😂😂
Fun fact: Nero Forte in Italian means strong black
I love this pretty woman❤
If you want something that is a "different sound", try some Orphaned Land!
The pioneers of Oriental/Middle-Eastern metal!
The best growl rap hands down is Amaranthe's BOOM1! not even close I love Corey Taylor but GG6 has him beat. Plus the video has zombies being slaughtered what's not to love lol
