59 yrs old and finally understand how to tread water and to stay relaxed! I can almost sleep on my back while floating but couldn’t tread for any length of time, crazy I know. You explained this perfectly! You are a God send! Thank you 💖

Keep up the fantastic work, and if there's anything else you'd like to learn or discuss, feel free to reach out. Happy swimming! 😎🙏 -Coach Mandy
I am new to swimming, started just about a month ago and after watching this video and of course lots of practice I am now able to tread water. Yayy!!! I find the 3rd demo - sculling with high knees easy, it even gets a lot easier when I relax my head backwards and I am able to switch to a backstroke from that position. I am a lot water confident, all thanks to you.
I was trying to thread for over 3 weeks now but wasnt able to do it and today came across this video. Watched just before going the swim class and practise it and it really worked
I am a 54 year old. I only learned to tread water after taking a few holidays abroad. Now I got the confidence. They had to do a pole rescue on me at the local swimming pool. Now I know how to float on my back. It took some practice. I wish my Grandparents had given my mum permission to go swimming when I went to school.
Also another treading style is the cycling motion of your legs with the sculling. I mostly do this. But I am gradually moving towards the egg beater, because it will be more energy efficient.
Thank you so much for these mini lessons and advice! Straightforward, comprehensive and engaging in swimmers' needs. That's how the best teachers are 👍 Looking forward to learning more from you, coach Mandy 🏊♀️
Thank you for your kind words and support Maryam. 🙏🏼 I’m glad you love the channel. Enjoy your practice and I look forward to staying connected with you! 🏊🏻♀️-CM

We're gonna try the eggbeater kick on the shallow pool. I'm taking a swimming lesson but I'm super scared just seeing the deep pool 😂 It's very helpful to know that buoyancy is the same whether it was in a shallow pool or deep pool.
When I learned to tread water, 60 or so years ago, it was taught with the flutter kick. Never could do the old style frog kick, or the newer whip kick, my feet just don't move that way...
I'd try to master this in a shallow pulll... Coaches has placed too much emphasis on practicing trading in deep water, probably that's why I'm not getting it yet I got the sitting position and bouyancy part but I can't can't thread relaxed pass 3 seconds lol Once I practice and practice in shallow water then I can translate it to deep pool Thanks
I wish you could help me out I’m struggling with treading water me personally I like the egg beater best but I still struggle to keep my head above water sigh hope I learn one day
I have been trying to do the egg beater for years. Can not dang do it without also sculling. I don’t know if I am not flexible enough or what? My left leg wants to do it but my right leg will not give enough pressure and I sink.
I'm a hands on kind of person, otherwise it comes & goes; but u showed a great vid.along with the explanations; I can absolutely see my self in the water and managing to stay afloat. Thank you so much !!!
One thing I never see mentioned is egg beater is really hard on your knees because of the circular motion, if you have knee issues maybe avoid also hard on the groin!
I like the egg beater. Must practice that one. Normally i use the last one which you can transition to a longer version on your back for chasing your kids around a shallow pool .
Keep your chin lifted and breathe normally. Keep your head above water and try to slowly regulate your breathing. Lift your chin and slightly tilt back your head. Slowing down your breath will help you calm down, conserve energy, and tread water for longer.
Thx for this. It seems really interesting and I'm definitely going to try it. My concern is that, as my understanding is that women are more buoyant, - - and flexible - then men, will this work for men?
A quote from your website "Treading water is not just about mastering physical techniques; it’s a delicate dance of coordination, buoyancy, and most importantly, relaxation." Slow down, and relax, all that has to be out of the water is your mouth.
Hi, first of all thank you for sharing, and my questions is ...What do you think is the safest/appropriate/more convenient style for to use in open water?
Hi Luciano - great question! If you are wearing a full wetsuit, there is not much need to tread other than lightly sculling (as show in this video) because your buoyancy is pretty stable and keeps you level on the surface. However, if you are wearing no wetsuit, a light/relaxed egg beater is the most efficient to keep you stable without burning too much O2. The key is to stay very relaxed when in open water to shut of the fight or flight response. 🙌✅ -Coach Mandy
@@SWIMVICE Hi Mandy ... Thank you very much for your quick and precise response, especially when do you say in open water staying relaxed. Again, thank you so much Mandy
lol obviously u should be at a depth where u won't die if u can't catch the side of the pool. Jokes aside, the depth where water is at ur neck while your foot touches the floor in tiptoe position. And stay close to side of pool. If ur fully out of breath and start sinking ,don't panic and go down and push the floor and burst out like a fkin dolphin and breathe as much as possible. Happy drowning !!!

Which of the three method worked for you?
@@manmohansinghrao8200 i think i'm leaning towards the sculling method
True me too at 54. 😂

This is the best video on treading in deep water, I've found on TH-cam so far, and I've watched many. Thank you.
i agree 100%,,, i cant count the treading videos i have watched,,, this is super
are you treading now?
Wow, the high knee method is so effortless when u do it!
Also another treading style is the cycling motion of your legs with the sculling. I mostly do this. But I am gradually moving towards the egg beater, because it will be more energy efficient.

Very useful, I'll put in practice. Thanks 👍
You make it look super easy. :)
When I learned to tread water, 60 or so years ago, it was taught with the flutter kick. Never could do the old style frog kick, or the newer whip kick, my feet just don't move that way...
I’m on the same boat I can do it with my hands but just using legs I can’t I’m too tall and I have a test next week
Thank you mam.. This is what I need to practice my leg and arms... Good advice coach..
For the third method, can you still breathe normally or you have to hold your breath?
the last technique is not clear to me at which level the arms should be places? align at the hip?
Very helpful video. Thanks!
Enjoy your practice Joha 😎🙏🏼
In egg beater, does the legs make circular pattern parallel to the ground or perpendicular to the ground?
Great question - the circular pattern would be parallel to the ground. ✅ -Coach Mandy
This is very helpful
Thank you Coach Monday. Another useful video for beginners like me. I will try these techniques.
Thanks to the info now i know why its so hard to stay long when your using technique 1
I'd try to master this in a shallow pulll... Coaches has placed too much emphasis on practicing trading in deep water, probably that's why I'm not getting it yet

You gotta keep on practicing it gets easy after a week

Try doing the modified breaststroke kick and the progress doing it one by one relax your shoulders...
Thank you so much very helpful I’m from the Philippines most of our population knows how to swim unfortunately not me…

Nice breathstroke Mandy it looks really cool and really great moves even egg beater and sculling so amazing swimmer ma'am
Very nice video👍🏾
Your video is very very useful. I'm happy I can sculling for my first try. Trust me, it is not that hard.
Which style is best for the beginners
The high knees and sculling seems to be the easiest and can hold for longer
Thank you.

Thanks
Bht which one is better?
But*
Do you breathe freely while doing it or do you take like, deep breaths?
Thank you for your advices always useful!
Thanks a lot for you..
When you do all the techniques do you need to hold your breath or you breath normal?

Hey, quick question, Should i hold my breath while doing this ?
yes
No. You just breath normal.
Wow ❤
hey, should i hold my breath while diving
Greeeeat,thanks
Love it sixty eight and just learning but what about breathing 😮💨
How deep should the water be in order to practice treading? Thank you
lol obviously u should be at a depth where u won't die if u can't catch the side of the pool. Jokes aside, the depth where water is at ur neck while your foot touches the floor in tiptoe position.
