Feeling hopeless, Katherine left, so she wouldn’t drink,and contemplated suicide. She was then robbed while on the streets and was disoriented from the robbery. Mac found her wandering and took her to the homeless shelter to keep her safe. While at the shelter, Katherine befriended Birdie, who I believe was played by Vernee Watson. While at the shelter, Mac shows Katherine a letter that her father had written to her mother, and Katherine begins to realize that Mac could be her granddaughter. Katherine then took Mac and Birdie back to the Chancelor mansion.
