The radio hosts are murderers. Literally got certified nurses and other callers telling them the contestants were in danger - KNEW about what happened to the college kid - and the contestants were complaining about pains and such, and still went on with the contest. They should be in prison, not just casually working elsewhere
its also not hard to remedy the situation, they just needed to be drinking a liquid containing some sodium. if they just spiked the water with salt, or used gatorade instead, wouldnt they be fine?
@@dieterdelange9488 While that wouldn't have brought Jennifer back I'm glad the station got financially wrecked for what they did. If I'd have been awarded a good share of that sort of money I'd have chased all the scumbags involved to the end of the earth legally and not for financial gain, just to make sure they'd go to jail and never get out.
Just in case the radio station case didn't piss you off enough, Adam "Lukas" Cox published a book titled My Crazy Radio Life. He advertises the book on his website with these quotes (taken from himself, because of course they are): "'Have you ever been investigated for a death? I was, I couldn’t believe why. It’s all in the book.' '"I was fired, lost everything, dealt with depression, and still came out on top!'". What a piece of work.
Patricia Sweet has since changed her name to Jayde Donovan. She continues to work in radio, and has even adopted a humanitarian persona. Her describes herself as a "philanthropist" in her self-written Apple Music biography, and namedrops her nonprofit for children, called "Apple a Day". Absolute scum.
The way they said "they signed releases so we're okay" as if the people were calling in with concern for them and not the people that were literally in a deadly situation. disgusting.
I am still shocked the DJs not only are still working but were "surprised" to hear they were fired. Unreal the lack of concern for the contestants. Disgusting. I really hope they are reminded of this daily.
Have you never listened to morning radio? Those kind-of djs don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. Howard Stern had a guy frequently come on the show he called "Gary the Retard". To say morals are few and far between in morning radio is an understatement.
Even though i forgot about it, I remember this story after hearing it and thought they faced severe civil suits, man slaughter charges, and were black balled from radio jobs- them having basically zero punishment disturbs me. Shame there isn't a reddit group somewhere who wants to find a LEGAL way to remind them daily of what harm they've done. The indifference in their voice while talking about the event afterwards is almost more disturbing than the incident itself.
I hope they live healthy and productive lives. If you think otherwise, then you demote the intelligence of the individual that died. Choice is a thing, and she chose to participate. She could have won that Wii for her kids, and she died in nobility. It is an insult to her intelligence to suggest she went into this oblivious to the dangers.
@@susand9296 WTF ever, water intoxication isn't a well known danger (especially back then) and i only knew about it from working in the medical field. These DJs definitely did and hid it from the contestants. Did you not hear the tone of their voice while laughing and joking about the contestants feeling ill or their responses to medical professionals calling in and warning them? I have a feeling you're either a troll or narcissistic sociopath like these DJs and your opinion means nothing to me just like the contestants lives meant nothing to the DJs. Kindly F off and maybe drink 5 gallons of water in the process 🙃 🤡🤡🤡🤡
That DJ makes my blood boil and needs some street justice laid down on him. He was more concerned about losing his job than someone dying on his radio show. The way he said "they signed releases so we're okay" and how he didn't expect to get fired after the woman died. What a narcissist and sociopath.
The fact I had no clue what the last one was until you mentioned the “1 lunatic 1 ice pick” really says a lot about how media focuses on the killer rather than the victim(s) I wasn’t even aware of who was killed because everyone who covered the topic only focused on the perpetrator
I actually rlly hate the "1 person 1 thing" format for videos. like, we get it two girls one cup haha funny but seriously do we need to make every shock video that? bc some of the shock videos are like, just corn. like, lemon party is just vanilla corn why do we need to call it 3 men 1 shower or call mr hands 1 guy 1 horse like can we be more creative here? idk if the format came from 2 girls 1 cup (which fun fact I used to think cup referred to like, cup size. like bras. I didn't know what 2 girls 1 cup was so I just assumed it was some vanilla lesbian corn.) or if it came from 1 lunatic 1 icepick but can we stop it's annoyed
@@chocomelo454I’ve never heard that format used for lemon party or mr hands. The fact that they both have other recognizable names kind of disproves your own point. What other name does “2 girl, 1 cup” carry?.
Sure, some may name them as such, but the “x person, x thing” mantle is only really used for gore and/or particularly disgusting videos. It’s a monicker for disgusting video. It’s very fitting as you don’t need to describe the more gruesome and/or disgusting acts. It should be applied to all grosser videos imo
watch the dont fuck with cats documentary it’s fucking INSANEE!!!!! i recognize the victim immediately. the name Luka will also always be engraved in my brain. he was a sick sick man
That first story has broken my heart since the time I first learned of it. Just a good mom obviously trying to do something nice for her kids, clearly she had no idea of the danger.
And as is so often in such cases, those who caused it feel absolutely zero remorse and give the usual shallow "I feel terrible for her family" cliche. The fact that they still have jobs infuriates me.
@@nicwelch You might have. But chances are you probably would have just taken for granted that a goofy radio show bit wouldn't be something you have to fear for your life over.

the insensitivity of those djs is astounding. "never for one second did i think we were gonna get fired". not even a "never for one second did i think someone would die"???????? glad to know they had their priorities straight
That's because they knew it was a possibility. They just didn't care. They thought their waiver was their "saving grace" and that they were untouchable
I’ve known about the radio station story for years but I still tear up every time I hear it. The thought of a mom going through so much pain and then dying only because she wanted to win something nice for her kids that they probably really wanted. It’s so sad.
Yes! It's a genuinely heartbreaking story of a mom who genuinely wanted to do right by her kids and didn't see the danger they were getting into, and I can only imagine how the kids felt (and probably continue to feel) knowing that their mom died needlessly for a stupid gaming system. Do they feel a sense of guilt or culpability even today, as kids in these situations often do? Did it destroy their love of games, as I can imagine it might for me? I feel incredibly sad whenever I'm reminded of it.
I never heard of the case of Jun Lin and I live in Canada. I absolutely hate the man who killed him and I won't even utter his name. Not everyone in Canada idolizes serial killers just so you know.
Okay, I’d heard of the first one…but did not realize that the hosts treated it so flippantly. Making light of people possibly dying, disregarding medical professionals saying how dangerous it was, and then acting as though they had gotten the short end of the stick by being fired. They deserve to have been put in prison. They essentially killed that poor woman. I’m thoroughly disgusted by them and the fact that they were able to just walk away from it without any repercussions whatsoever.
Now that I've heard the DJ say "this is how it feels like when you're drowning", i have zero doubt in my mind that at least this dude knew what the risk was. It really wasn't even a risk it's unavoidable at a certain point in time. Shame on them. Taking a good mother away from her innocent children, for some good ratings, smfh.
Hiw about attaching their wrists and fingers to ask question them about topics they learned from high school. Every bad answer, you crush a finger bone with a hammer. Would make for good radio, maybe they'd understand that good entertainment is not done at one's expense!
@@Roadent1241i could never think of drowning as peaceful or painless. i thought its more like, if you’ve ever tried to take a breath under water or swallowed a beverage the wrong way, but 100x worse
I've heard that story about the water drinking contest many times before, but I'd never heard clips from the broadcast. The lack of empathy made my skin crawl.
I’m so glad billy at least got that multi million dollar settlement. The lack of concern the radio hosts showed for Jennifer and the other guests was disgusting. They literally knew those people could die.

I've heard the first story before and it's crazy how much it has stuck with me. When you started the video with that quote ("Anything can be a poison. It all depends on the dose.") I was immediately reminded of the story, only to have it be the first entry in the video. An absolutely infuriating story about a completely avoidable tragedy.
I remembered it too. I had no idea about the dj's being aware of the potential dangers though. I always assumed they just didn't research it and it was just a really sad mistake. Damn, was I wrong.
Oh my god, I work in EMS and that radio show audio is gonna haunt me forever. Jennifer should have stopped drinking after the pain started, but at a certain point when she started losing her mental acuity, the hosts became responsible for her condition. They should have immediately gotten her help, but they just laughed.
The first story is even sadder than I remembered; I had always been under the impression that the victim had been a young girl who drank a jug of water in one go, won the Wii, and later passed away, but to know that Jennifer went through several hours of pain along with other people while the DJs laughed and mocked them, drank 9 liters of water trying to get the top prize for her kids, and that it all could've been avoided because the DJs knew of a similar case *AND* were warned by their listeners... Those three should've faced legal consequences.
@@brocksonix8972 Homie.... In the video it literally said that the hosts were fully aware of the consequences and could've/should've pulled the plug. They were aware of the college kid and had multiple people like a qualified nurse telling them that this was going to kill them.
@@brocksonix8972 Gross negligence. The hosts were the ones who decided to double the water amount, and they were the ones who willfully ignored safety advice that would have saved a life. The district attorney dropped the ball on that one.
Jun Lin. This is the first time I see a documentary kind of about his murder that approached it from the victim’s side rather than the murdered. I had never seen so many time a photo of him and I think you did a great job and making your public remember his face and not the other’s.
Yet his killer is still very much enjoying his life, despite the fact that at the time of the arrest....he was hunting for more victims at an Internet cafe.
It's a weird thing to say but to the general public, the murderer is usually more interesting because they did messed up things. I bet money, the average person can name more of the Nazis command than the British, for example.
@@tablescissors I honestly hope that's just more of his lying for attention. He desperately wants to believe he's some smooth, awesome fusion of Patrick Bateman and Catherine Tramell (to the point of actually imitating Patrick's mirror scene in the building's lobby just after murdering Jun and trying to recreate Catherine's interrogation during his own, right down to the famous leg-crossing bit), he's probably trying to convince himself he's got it that good. On a more humorous note, know what else he did at the cafe they caught him at? Googling his own name. And apparently, that inability to curb his own colossal narcissism is part of what led to him being located.
I’ve heard about the wee for a wii story before and always felt bad for the hosts because I was under the impression they had no idea they were doing something harmful. Now hearing this, I’m baffled at their flippant response to callers warning them of the danger, AND that they were even, to some extent, aware of a hydro-toxicity case but decided to press on. How could they not feel responsible for keeping the contestants safe? I can’t believe they performed such mental gymnastics to avoid the truth of the danger right in front of them, and to shrug off responsibility. Horrible
@@brocksonix8972 it IS hosts fault. no one made them increase the water consumed. no one made them ignore the pains of the contestants. no one made them ignore the _mountain_ of warning signs that continuing was a bad idea. the truth is: they _should_ be prosecuted for their negligence.
26:02 Given Magnotta’s arrogance and belief that he was the best looking man on earth, I guarantee he’s still furious to this day that the courtroom sketch artist thought he looked like this.
The fact that Luca gets to play video games, go outside a lot, and get married in prison pisses me off. I don't know how the other prisoners haven't tried killing him yet
Which is why I believe in the death penalty. Tax payers are supplying him with his luxurious lifestyle while there are children homeless and going hungry. There is no justice for the man he killed and that man's grieving family. Luca's mother should be locked up too for trying to get her son out of prison.
He gives "hungry bottom" type of energy, so they're not about to off a constant source of...stimulation. I'm sure he knows how to survive in such an environment as that. He likely even enjoys it. Not by default being his orientation but the fact that he is delusional and addicted to attention and will use his body to get what he wants.
@@saltycat662 When you consider any form of punishment you must also consider the possibility of an innocent (falsely convicted) person being subjected to said punishment. So the question here is simple... *Are you okay with innocent people dying so long as people like Luca die also?* If so, would you still be okay with that if _you_ had to be one of those innocent people? Consider that one carefully. The problem with death as a punishment is that it cannot be undone. You can falsely sentence someone to life imprisonment, later realise your mistake, and at least attempt to compensate the innocent for the time they wrongly spent behind bars. If you kill somebody you simply cannot take that back. Death is absolute and there is NO recourse at all. Also, an a side-note, an inmate on death row actually costs the tax payer _more_ than an inmate in life imprisonment does. The death penalty is actually surprisingly costly to the tax payer. Just saying.
The Luca Magnotta case skeeves me out everytime I hear it. I'm from Montreal, and Ive lived close to where Justin's head was found. I often have to travel around Angrignon Park to get to work. I remember all the news coming out when the schools started receiving body parts. I was in high school at the time and we were all worried the next school to be targeted was ours.
I wasn't even close to Montreal (I'm near Quebec City), and I was also in highschool back then. That was honestly terrifying, I remember it being all over the news, and him being one of the ''most wanted'' on Interpol. The scariest part was when no one knew where he was in my opinion.
All 3 DJ's should have been jailed & the radio station should have had its broadcasting licence revoked. They knew the danger but still went ahead anyway....isn't that criminally negligent homicide? I can not & will not feel sorry for these 3 criminal DJ's. RIP Jennifer.
Extra fact about the fist story. One of the DJs was Lori Vallow Daybell's brother. The crazy dooms day mom who took the life of both of her children, than moved to Hawaii with her new husband. His real name is Adam Cox, but he went by Lukas Cox. In fact he’s the DJ saying on camera that he couldn’t believe they got fired. He even wrote a book about the radio station incident where he expresses how unbelievably sad he was when it happened, than proceeds to get the date wrong while talking about how it deeply effected him.
It's disgusting how good people suffer, while monsters flourish in this world. On another note, what happened to your catchphrase? "The best things happen, in the dark". I miss hearing that at the end of your videos🥰
I have BPD and schizophrenia. That man using those as an excuse for the disgusting things he did is horrible. Mental illness doesn't make you kill people or animals. I'm glad he actually faced consequences. It's definitely not fair someone like that gets to live such a decent life after snuffing out the life of someone else. The victim deserved so much better, he seems like he was such a lovely person just from what I've heard.
Yeah my brother had schizophrenia. One time he angrily threw something at a wall but I'm pretty sure that was the alcoholism. Mostly it just made him hide in his room from the world
Magnotta is a real scumbag. He is way worse than Lazy even spoke of. You could make an hour long video on how disgusting and horrible this guy is. It would be only for those with strong stomachs. I am really surprised he has not been murdered in prison. He is a waste of a human being.
People tend to brush off cruelty to animals, especially in childhood as being a rite of passage, or somehow acceptable. In my experience as a Psych PHD it rarely ends there. These individuals are dangerous to society in a myriad of ways. Not least, that they are immense cowards.
That first story is deeply disturbing. They were taking pleasure in people's suffering and couldn't care less if anyone died. And no some lame ass apology after the fact doesn't count. It's really creepy that the second guy hasn't been caught and is still out there. People really need to make everything possible is locked up. Okay.....that monster in the third story deserves the worst death possible. It's pieces of shit like him that's why I've given up on humanity.
Yeah that DJ cared more about the fact that he was shitcanned by the studio than that he facilitated the death of an innocent woman. The sheer narcissism...
Lazy is hands down the best creepy story teller on You Tube. He has the best writing, images and narration. Thank you so much for entertaining and scaring us!
I still can't believe how the DJ's had the nerve to fight legally a wrongful termination when even nurses told them the people could die and they laugh it off. They should be behind bars.
The DJs with the radio station were so inconceivably heinous. "It's sad one of our listener's died." "Never thought we'd get FIRED!" Like they show literally zero empathy or respect. They dehumanized Jennifer to a NUMBER to make what they did seem less bad. What'd they do? They killed her. Plain and simple. Those three people straight up killed a woman, and they're mad they got FIRED? Like, babes, you're lucky you're not IN JAIL where you belong!
While the saying "play stupid game, win stupid prize" is true in many cases, I think "organize stupid games, get stupid outcome" is what applies here. What were the radio hosts thinking?!
@@nozoto That they could hide behind a waiver and kill 18 people on air for views. They knew what they were doing. You wanna run one of those contests? Not everyone that commits crimes is unemployed.

I think the murder of Jung Lin has to be the most disturbing I’ve seen to date. The perp showed pre meditation by naming his alias and his ‘demon’ after characters in a movie, mailing the body parts all over Canada, and having filming equipment set up before hand. He showed that he is incapable of remorse by bragging about how great prison is and how much he’s improved his knowledge and skills there. I’m not an expert but I’d be willing to put down money that if he ever gets out he will at least try to kill again.
And not to mention he was able to get married. He wed the man who executed my 17 year old friend/roommate Kelly. It hurts that murderers can get married when some of their victims weren't afforded that in life.

They never intended anyone to get hurt. Malicious intent was not present, and therefore they did not incur jail time. Individuals have a responsibility to understand all consequences when they undertake a physiologically challenging procedure. The DJs were ignorant, but not culpable for death.
@@susand9296 They weren't 'ignorant'. They KNEW the dangers, as people called in and tell them, and intentionally withheld the info from the contestants.
When the hosts said "they signed waivers so WE'RE okay" that really shows you where their priorities lie. They didn't care if someone got sick, let alone die.
Can you imagine how creepy it is to be sleeping in your bed and have a complete stranger watching over you without you even noticing it really gives me the chills
The first story is a pure rage material. I wish someone took justice in their hands over those 3 DJs who clearly found pleasure in others' suffering like psychos and showed them how wrong they were (obviously I'm not invoking an attempted murder here, just some good old beat up to teach a lesson), maybe then their heads won't fail to distinguish the difference between sadism and fun.
Honestly given the circumstances there would've been a really strong case for criminally negligent homicide there, they could've and should've faced criminal charges for what they did.
What breaks my heart about the last case is how innocent and full of emotion Jun looks in this picture 19:49 ... he did not deserve to have his life ended in such a horrific way, to have his body disrespected even after death... and his killer, a cowardly monster who decided to hide behind his diagnostics(because having mental health problems does not make one a killer, especially when he demonstrated premeditation and actual understanding of what he was planning to do to Jun ) , is now living his best life, in fame and comfort, married and without a care in the world... I am not saying that the situation in jails should be worse, God forbid that, because there are a lot of good people behind bars that are mistreated so so much... And I am not saying that people who have done horrible things can't reintegrate in this society, because they can and they should... But in his case I am so fucking disappointed that the killer will not pay for their wrong doings, he didn't show an ounce of remorse, and he relishes in all the attention and publicity, openly taunting the family with his responses...I hope that karma comes to him one day and he will pay.....
No they should not. That is incredibly naive and ignorant. You would allow Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, Jon Wayne Gacy back into society? That's utter madness. You'd just give them another chance to commit crime on some poor innocent person. Once someone has committed a crime like this then they are done.
@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 those people never showed any remorse from what they did and neither did the guy the OP was talking about, so ur logic is stupid
That’s why no one should ever do anymore updates on Luka Magnotta. He thrives on attention, and that’s why he should never receive one ounce more from anyone. I worked in prisons for many years, and I can assure you that he’s not “living his best life.” He might have some privileges and whatnot, but they’re not fun places to be. Before he committed the murder, he created fan sites to himself and made up fake accounts to comment on them. He also called radio and news stations claiming that he was famous and “dispelling rumors” that he was dating an infamous female Canadian murderer. All this loser has ever wanted was to be in the spotlight. The absolute best thing any of us can do is let him rot in prison, ignored and forgotten. Ignore his social media, don’t ever engage him or update anyone on what he’s doing, and let him go insane knowing that the world moved on and he was left behind to die in obscurity.

I had water intoxication once. I was on a historic sailboat on vacation with my grandma and my cousin. The day was extremely hot, there was lots of metal on deck and I was feeling very thirsty. Being, like, 15 back then I had no idea it was a bad idea to drink too much water too fast, so I went down into the dining room and I drank 1,5L of already prepared cold tea and then filled the same bottle with water and drank that too. I wobbled up the ladder to my grandma and told her I wasn't feeling well and then I threw up all over the deck. Was swiftly brought inside but not, like, feverish or hot to the touch or sweating so they (and I) assumed it was a stomach bug as they didn't know how much water/tea I had, only that I walked up and threw up infront of everyone. Only way later I realized that I drank too much water and the throwing up is probably what saved me.
The way they knew it was dangerous, and were laughing and joking about them potentially dying shows they were culpable in her death. It’s shocking that they didn’t go to prison. It just goes to show it pays to be famous. Even regionally, with a face to ugly for tv.
The fact thst they were warned, even if they hadn't been aware to begin with, but telling the nurse thst they knew was bad enough, but to then sut there and laugh and make jokes about it, is what really is infuriating.
I grew up in Sacramento and was going to high school when the radio contest happened. The news about it was everywhere and has stuck with me since, I think about it often. One of the things I that struck me was when the winner was interviwed on tv and she was talking with the wii right next to her. It felt wrong that a death happened over that console.
The murderer in the third story absolutely has narcissistic personality disorder, NOT borderline. Look at how he checks himself out in the mirror while disposing of that poor man's remains, and the fact that he was arrested in an internet café while reading news articles about the crime he had committed! That's classic narcissism; they feel no remorse for what they've done and, in some cases, try to paint the victim as being "deserving of what they'd gotten". Schizophrenia can be managed with medication, but narcissism cannot.
Narcissists have zero humanity, empathy, or remorse. They should probably be sequestered from the rest of society, but that's not my call. I'd go so far as to say that sociopathy and narcissism are comorbid in a lot of cases.
My ex husband has BPD and so do a few other people I know, they have low self esteem...which is apparently common in people with BPD because they doubt themselves and others all the time. The people I know who have BPD are often very nice and wonderful people and do feel remorse.
I'm Canadian and I actually remember that last story playing out on the news when I was a kid. I always check the sender when i receive parcels to make sure it's something I'm expecting or from someone I know. I had forgotten where this habit came from but I'm now reminded it's from a childhood fear of receiving a body part in the mail.
I remember the Magnotta incident. I was in high school and that morning everyone was talking about how a dismembered body part was sent to parliament. That was horribly tragic for Jun. RIP 😢
Interesting video - the radio show with actual clips was particularly disturbing. I'm Canadian and live in Halifax - I remember when the sleep watcher was in the news, and have heard the rather disturbing tale of Lucas several times. That was very disturbing then and now.
Radio host feeling “horrible” and suing over termination for a death is DEPLORABLE, they should never be forgiven, they are clowns in the worst sense of the word. How can anyone hire them or even be fans of them after that?!
I routinely wake up at some point during the night, usually only for a few minutes before I go back to sleep. I’d be absolutely terrified to suddenly see someone there.
The way the radio hosts just laughed and joked.....and then to say "I felt bad but I didn't think we were going to get fired" they belong in jail.....how heartless and stupid can you be?
we learned about the radio water death in my high school radio class. our school had an actual station so we had to learn about all the laws. this incident is the exact reason you can no longer do competition in this way on air anymore.
I'd heard the Jun Lin case many times yet this is the first time I realized that he had answered a craigslist ad. Godspeed to him, his murder is always overshadowed by the cats.
Hey Lazy, I'm a long-time subscriber (and an extremely proud Lazy-Youtooz-plushie owner). Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the work you put into your vids. It always makes my day - or night - when you upload. Hope you're having a lovely day❤
…GODDAMN I LOVE THIS CHANNEL! I find myself pretty regularly unintentionally binge watching Lazy’s videos post-midnight, nothing like Lazy Masquerade’s bone chilling delivery when he speaks, to make my skin crawl at 2,3,4 am.
I remember that "hold your Wii" contest in the news. Sad story, and shame on that radio show's staff for not realizing the potential consequences of something like that.
How the hell is it that a convicted murderer can play video games, take painting classes, and get married? What the fuck is that? Meanwhile his victim is dead? Just for the innocent animals alone the bastard deserves to have every bone in his body broken and fed to a snake himself, but for killing another person? He shouldn't be breathing,, its as simple as that. But of course in Canada what do you expect? I'm proud to be Canadian but how we handle deadly criminals is ridiculous.
Happy birthday to your channel lazy🎂you was the first horror narrator I listened to and you have been ever present in my life since. Thankyou so much for all the great work you do ❤️
The first one is extreme, willful negligence. All of those DJs should be in prison for life. That was literal murder. Let's be clear... for the third story, what he did is one sick person's behavior. It really didn't have anything to do with his mental illnesses, nor do they absolve him of the disturbing things he did.
God, I remember when the 'hold your wee for a wii' thing happened. I had just graduated high school. Really surreal for that to end up here! Also, Happy Birthday!
the hold your wee for a wii thing i remember vividly because my parents were one of the people trying to call in as my dad's a pharmacologist and my mom a nurse (one makes the drugs the other deals em out). But yeah they were both acutely aware of how dangerous this was and were calling off the hook. I was young at the time so i didn't really understand it until i was older.
“Snuck around and didn’t find out” might be one of my favorite riffs on a popular saying, despite it taking me a second to get it and also getting creepier the more you think about it…
I’m incredibly shocked and enraged by the radio hosts, the fact that they complained about being “wrongfully” fired when they were incredibly reckless and careless leading to a mother of 3 losing her life?? Unbelievable, I wonder how they even sleep at night.
The District Attorney's office declined to press criminal charges. Luckily the family won the wrongful death lawsuit. Those DJs should be behind bars though.
“I didn’t think we would get fired.” That tells you all you need to know about their priorities. Not “I didn’t think anyone would get hurt.” All they cared about was themselves.
I didn't know what case you were talking about at 18:10, but as soon as I saw that blurred photo and then the name I instantly shivered and said "Oh no".Having heard about the case when bestgore was still active and also seeing the horrific video, this is a case that always stayed with me like some awful memory...
I remember when a classmate in junior year Human Body Systems called me a liar when I was talking about water intoxication. She said that we would constantly be intoxicated because we have water in our bodies so there's no such thing as drinking too much water... She wanted to be a nurse 🥴
i grew up listening to the end, mostly on the way to school every morning. they had a lot of gimickie talk show segments, one i remember was War of the Roses, that i think was thursdays. they would have a person call in that thought their partner was cheating on them so one of the hosts would call the person's partner / spouse saying they had won a free spa weekend for two or free bouquet of roses ( hence the name as that was the original bait ) & if the partner / spouse sent it to the original caller, that was supposed to be proof they were NOT cheating, but often times they would give the name & address of the other person-- WITH the original caller on the line to hear this. it obviously wasn't as dangerous as the Hold Your Wee for a Wii contest but those hosts often did outrageous stuff that could end very, very badly. i remember hearing about this contest as they were trying to hype it up & telling my mom that i wanted to enter b/c i'm a major water drinker. my mom was a nurse at the time & told me all about water poisoning & that it was not going to end well. she was right.
Being born and raised in Sacramento, I was actually working at a Gamestop the day this happened, and when it was reported (this was at the height of the Wii constantly being sold out everywhere), and so we heard about it pretty quickly from our manager. I remember people mostly being confused, because not many people have had of water intoxication, let alone an extremely rapid onset of it. You'll find that most people in Sac are keenly aware of water intoxication to this day, and it's because of that very tragedy. So for what it's worth, she didn't die in vain. If it would have been alcohol then most understand blood levels etc., but because it's water people don't know you can end up washing yourself out. In this case, "don't be water, my friends."
When I heard just now the phrase "Anything can be a poison, it all depends on the dose" I never had heard of it before, but I immediately thought of this case... Pretty interesting how no one wanting to take responsabilities... Luka Magnotta case is very well known, and if the authorities took actions after the kittens videos instead of brushing it off and saying "They're just cats", then Jin's death could have been adverted.
While not a radio production major, I'm a tv video production major and radio is very often discussed in my classes and the first story has been widely discussed and everyone is in agreement that it was a situation that absolutely shouldn't have happened. There's often so many hoops and boundaries as well as higher ups you need to go through in order to do game shows/events like that on the radio so multiple people probably had to sign off on this and be ok with it. So many more people should have been fired and sued in this instance. My heart goes out to the family because that should not have been able to happen at all if proper research and measures were actually taken.
Absolutely. People called in and warned them, and they completely disregarded them. They should be locked up for what they did.
Disturbing as fuck. Justice needed to be served
Lucas Cox one of the d-jays was the brother of Lori Vallow Daybell and Alex Cox so maybe it runs in the family
Lukas Cox aka Adam Cox is the brother of Lori Vallow Daybell, of Doomsday Cult mom infamy. Looks like there's more than two murderers in that family😱

Just in case the radio station case didn't piss you off enough, Adam "Lukas" Cox published a book titled My Crazy Radio Life. He advertises the book on his website with these quotes (taken from himself, because of course they are):
"'Have you ever been investigated for a death? I was, I couldn’t believe why. It’s all in the book.'
'"I was fired, lost everything, dealt with depression, and still came out on top!'".

Unbelievable
Classic Narcissist
The way they said "they signed releases so we're okay" as if the people were calling in with concern for them and not the people that were literally in a deadly situation. disgusting.
Somebody should, correct him.
I'm also shocked that the company tried to evade being sued despite firing the DJs.
That DJ makes my blood boil and needs some street justice laid down on him. He was more concerned about losing his job than someone dying on his radio show. So infuriating. I live near where that poor guy’s head was found. Horrific
*Are you okay with innocent people dying so long as people like Luca die also?*
If so, would you still be okay with that if _you_ had to be one of those innocent people? Consider that one carefully.
The problem with death as a punishment is that it cannot be undone. You can falsely sentence someone to life imprisonment, later realise your mistake, and at least attempt to compensate the innocent for the time they wrongly spent behind bars. If you kill somebody you simply cannot take that back. Death is absolute and there is NO recourse at all.
Also, an a side-note, an inmate on death row actually costs the tax payer _more_ than an inmate in life imprisonment does. The death penalty is actually surprisingly costly to the tax payer. Just saying.

A Nick Crowley AND Lazy Masquerade video on the same day? We have been blessed on this day.
Blesses 🙌
🥂 indeed. Cause for celebration.
Just what I was thinking 😂
I was abt to comment that
I know. Right sware I just said the same thing to my brother
That DJ said "No way did we every think we'd lose our jobs." Did he ever think about the health & safety of the contestants?
He had a waiver. He was safe even if they weren't.
That's fine, just have everyone drink a set amount of water at the start and let the game begin. You do NOT have to keep upping the water over the course of the contest. Just give them enough to have to pee and the pressure will take care of the rest.
@@o-mangaming5042 she killed herself . Nobody forced her .
@@billymabum3514 That's a cop-out. People expect the folks running these things to do their due diligence and make the risks clear up front. Informed consent. Unless Lazy was wrong about the waivers lacking any mention of the risk of death, these DJs did not actually receive Informed Consent. They should be held accountable for that.
@@o-mangaming5042 it’s not a cop out , it’s a fact . If you’re too stupid to know that too much water can kill you that’s on you
I will never understand how someone can just casually leave their doors unlocked. I live in an area with very little crime. Yet the thought of ever leaving my doors unlocked never crosses my mind. I always even check to make sure they're locked.
My aunt & uncle in Maine didn't have a key to their house for 20 years. People weren't always bombarded with everything that happens everywhere.
@@J0SHUAKANE Serial killers and horrific crimes all over the world have been making headlines everywhere for hundreds of years now. Not to mention break-ins in general.
@@J0SHUAKANE This isn't some "in my day" nonsense. There have literally always been serial ki//ers and the like. As long as a human is nearby, there is a danger. All your story means is that your family were the perfect victims that just never got their turn.
I do it sometimes because I come home late and forget to lock the front door. But I live in a remote area and the nearest neighbour is 2 km away in each direction at least. It's a very low crime rate area because to live here, you have to have a job, we don't have such "unemployed behaviour"
@@MarvinHartmann452 That's what everyone in small or remote areas say. But things can still happen. Look at that case of the two girls that went missing on train tracks. Hell, even my area had a murder a few years ago which was the first murder in the area for at least 20+ years. Also "unemployed behavior" is such a ridiculous thing to say. Not everyone that commits crimes is unemployed.
It's disgusting how the DJ was more concerned about having been fired over the death of someone that trusted them to know the risks of the stupid contest
He and his mother should be put in Alcatraz. Btw Alcatraz is abandoned. 😊
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 lol! However they are Canadian so that also throws a wrench in that idea.
And not to mention he was able to get married. He wed the man who executed my 17 year old friend/roommate Kelly. It hurts that murderers can get married when some of their victims weren't afforded that in life.
@@tippic9252 That is just infuriating. I’m so sorry for your loss. I would not be happy to know that my tax dollars were going to help the man who murderers my friend start a family.
We live in a sick twisted world now where criminals lives are more important than their citizens.
Those Djs who kept info from the contestants, let them continue to poison themselves, and lied about the clauses should face jail. Actual scum, they cared more about their jobs than her.
They never intended anyone to get hurt. Malicious intent was not present, and therefore they did not incur jail time. Individuals have a responsibility to understand all consequences when they undertake a physiologically challenging procedure. The DJs were ignorant, but not culpable for death.
@@susand9296 Do individuals not also have a responsibility to understand all consequences when they HOST a physiologically challenging procedure?
@@susand9296 They weren't 'ignorant'. They KNEW the dangers, as people called in and tell them, and intentionally withheld the info from the contestants.
@SISU THEY WERE WARNED ABOUT DYING AND THEY FUCKING LAUGH WHEN ONE WAS LITERALLY DYING WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK DO YOU MEAN ONLY IGNORANTS??!!
When the hosts said "they signed waivers so WE'RE okay" that really shows you where their priorities lie. They didn't care if someone got sick, let alone die.
“This Man” looks like he’s hunting for Smurfs.
The 'snuck around... didnt find out' joke during the horrifying story of the sleepwatcher was ridiculously funny. I choked on my food. Damn you LM.
💀
Yes someone else caught that it was so funny
When we saw this in the local paper we couldn't stop laughing. We thought it had to be a joke.
Can you imagine how creepy it is to be sleeping in your bed and have a complete stranger watching over you without you even noticing it really gives me the chills
I can't imagine leaving my doors or windows unlocked at night.
I wonder how many of them woke up that morning wondering if that really happened or was it a dream
I think it's art, it;s beautiful; the ultimate expression of humanity as merciful beings; but, then, some of us are different.
its not creepy if they don’t notice. no one’s ever noticed me..
The sketch looks like an alien 👽😧
We need a petition to get those radio hosts in prison ASAP. They knew what they were doing and didn’t care!
That DJ saying he never imagined they would be fired rather than acknowledging that a woman died bc of his and his team's carelessness is infuriating.
Agreed
And the fact that they sued for getting fired and won is infuriating
@@Mimi-kf8ey That's messed up
The first story is a pure rage material.
I 100% percent agree. If Jen was my family.......I would go even further than that.
Honestly given the circumstances there would've been a really strong case for criminally negligent homicide there, they could've and should've faced criminal charges for what they did.
"people would cry for the victim for a week, but imortalize the perpetrator for years."
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812those are not the kind of people they're talking about bestie
@@finnianday his literal words "im not saying people who have done horrible things shouldn't reintergate into society" he is definitely giving a broad stroke with that statement"

Wow. I was aware of the Hold your Wee contest gone wrong, but I had no idea how utterly horrible it was. Those hosts are absolutely responsible for Jennifer's death. It's been crazy for my family, too. God. I remember the Jennifer Strange thing so well. I listened to 107.9 a lot as a kid, and my mom even worked for the same company as Jennifer. It was wild and so sad

I once committed the mortal sin of smoking marijuana while on probation as a teenager. I drank so much water out of fear of an upcoming drug test, my stomach started hurting terribly and I felt the urge to go to the bathroom. It all came out the other end, pure water and it wasn’t from my bladder…

Home invasion is a constant topic of my nightmares, so I do very much lock my door every time, day or night.
Then again, my door is ridiculously strong. Auto-locking, steel reinforced...Even when I accidentally locked myself out with the key still in the inside, it took two locksmiths hours to open the door. And that was with me there to assure they were on the up and up. So a creeper trying no sneak in and invade ? No chance.
"we got fired, I never thought I would get fired, did I mention we got fired.....
oh yeah, a mother of 3 died, also"
what a piece of garbage.
It made me sick to my stomach hearing how remorseless his actions were
The murderer in the third story absolutely has narcissistic personality disorder, NOT borderline.

The third story broke my heart. That poor student to he murdered in such a horrible way.

The sleepwatcher has been waking me up at night for almost 7 years... it's my dog staring at me tirelessly 24/7
Kind of like me, but I get ran over by two cats some nights when I sleep.
"Are you done sleeping yet?"
I'm proud to be Canadian but how we handle deadly criminals is ridiculous.
sometimes, you just wanna reach out to the screen and hug them and safe the victims from their untimely deaths. it's a scary time to live in
Happy birthday to your channel lazy🎂you was the first horror narrator I listened to and you have been ever present in my life since.
“Snuck around and didn’t find out” might be one of my favorite riffs on a popular saying, despite it taking me a second to get it and also getting creepier the more you think about it…
Man, I was like "if the Sleep Watcher was here, I'd never sleep"
Then Lazy mentions a neighbouring town and I will never sleep again.
I’m incredibly shocked and enraged by the radio hosts, the fact that they complained about being “wrongfully” fired when they were incredibly reckless and careless leading to a mother of 3 losing her life?? Unbelievable, I wonder how they even sleep at night.
They need to go after those DJs. They need to be reminded everyday of their actions.
The District Attorney's office declined to press criminal charges. Luckily the family won the wrongful death lawsuit. Those DJs should be behind bars though.
“Snuck around and didn’t find out” is probably your best dad joke to date.
@Cyberwarezz05 I saw the video too a while back.. haunting and sickeningly sad!! That guy should have been euthanized for the monster his is.
I always watch your videos when doing chores around the house and this just inspired me to stop procrastinating ! I love your vids Lazy ❤
The fact that they knew it could be deadly, but only seemed sad about losing their jobs. Those children lost a MOTHER! Absolutely sick.
