Bought my GS300 one owner only 150k miles in Feb 1, 2024 an idk how I just now only found your channel 😅😅 but I’m subbed man I’ve wanted a GS300 since 2015 when Haggard Garage blew up an I turned 2 great deals down on one since 2015 bc I didn’t need a daily or project and I turned the one I have now down in September last year and in Jan my daily broke down I took that as a sign to get the GS300 since it was a steal… I’ve done $6000 in repairs majority of them myself to do preventive maintenance an bc the old man that owned it didn’t do anything besides oil changes an brakes had no idea plugs should be replaced or even the timing belt should be replaced or fluids 😂 and it say for over a year so leaked oil pissed out 3 quarts every 1k miles so I resealed the whole motor flushed all fluid did brakes a caliper radiator fixed the AC just have to pin point an ABS problem I’m having which I have a appt set up with a Lexus Specialist on Aug 26 for that bc ABS parts are expensive for this car so I’m not just going to throw parts at it esp bc I’m $6k deep

That’s good you’ve done most of the things to keep the JZ running right man, I still have to do my timing and do my seals and refresh a lot of stuff on mine but I haven’t run into that abs issue. But I had a misfire issue but that’s cause the guy who installed my headers didn’t do a good job so me and my homie put new oem gaskets on and all the codes were gone. I also did spark plugs too cause I thought they were the issue but turns out i probably didn’t need to do them

But to have a deeper sound I think would be in a different muffler tip, maybe a greddy or just a n1 style one could possibly give you a deeper one. Look up some sound videos for different mufflers for reference or just jump the gun a buy one you think would be the best for you bro

quite irrelevant question but did these gs come with fuel consumption monitor or something like that? i see there are 2 types of gs gauges, the first one with is200 odometer (same shape) and the other one which is yours, a bit more expanded but doesnt seem to show anything else besides odometer and probably trip fire car tho

okay long messege incoming, when u use the button shifters, u can’t go into first gear right? because it’s like that for my 2001 gs? and another question, when i’m doing pulls, i go from low, 2nd, 3rd (all using the actual shifter), then after that, i put the shifter to “M” mode simultaneously pressing the downshift so it perfectly goes from 3rd to 4th, then 5th after that (and yeah lowkey you should swap your steering wheel to a 2006-07 is250 steering wheel? i did and i can’t go back😂
@@kariu. yea man you right and I don’t know why to this day I can’t go into first gear and I think only on the aristo models you can go into first on those but those are a 4 speed but only the ones with the gte had a 4 speed auto. And also I’ve thought about doing the is250 wheel swap and it’s very clean looking but man it might take a while for it to grow on me I just really love the oem wheel on the gs

Can barely hear the engine and idk if that’s a cat, res or muffler or a combination of the three but I’d like to just hear the pure engine without that weird drone. Any help or videos I could look up would be appreciated, the setup you have sounds sick tho. Maybe a little raspy for my liking but it’s kinda hard to get the proper racing setups that don’t sound ridiculous(out of stock or discontinued)
@@LeWeedMonke you good bro feel free to ask, and I’m right with you these motors do have a lot of drone. But the key to getting rid of most of it is a big quiet resonator. I use to have headers and a muffler delete with stock resonators and it wasn’t bad drone it just sounded like it could’ve been a lot better. But just get a good muffler and a nice resonator and you should be good bro
@@LeWeedMonke there’s obx headers for the car but those are rare but by far are probably the best sound you could get out of an n/a 2JZ specifically with those headers

I was thinking of either deleting the muffler or getting a greddy evo one but idk they are all suspicious and might make it sound kinda cheap if that makes sense. I guess the same reason you got rid of the muffler delete and did a new res. It seems impossible to find a nice refined sound without opening the engine up with a turbo or a ton of internals. Like what I get from the 8 months I’ve had my IS, is it wants to go faster and it wants to scream harder but it’s being so held back. It’s odd to explain but I’m sure you get what I’m saying. The engine to me is like screaming for better mods to give it some life

Resonators are for getting rid of resonation, otherwise known as drone. If you want your car louder, do a muffler delete.
