Beautiful cabin! As one with flutes, I appreciate more the challenges of playing clarinet from watching your videos. The right pinky on flute has several keys. Trevor Wye has exercises to help. He points out that buying the book isn't going to help you play better; practicing will. So, after 9 a.m., the book's coming out. 😎🎶
Great video, Michael - A nice variation on this to have them try your movements between notes while keeping the left hand ring finger down. That helps minimize wrist movement, since many people get too much "wrist twist" which makes it harder to get to any next note that requires all holes covered.
That’s kinda cool. I clicked on this video hoping to find the best way to switch notes not even realizing I was already doing all this that you showed us without anyone telling me!
Thank you for your videos, Michael! These are a fantastic resource and source of inspiration, as I teach myself the bb clarinet and loving every darn hard moment. I’ve been struggling with the topic you cover here, so this is great. Got Kristen’s book immediately after watching your earlier video, and love it.
Nice video. Would be somewhat better if you used a more "traditional" clarinet with nickel/silver keys for the contrast between keys and body. This reminded me of a phrase in the musical Mame that appeared in the clarinet book that was swung eight notes: A-F#-G-G#-A-F#-G-G# followed by a whole note A.
So the ring around the F#-key stays down? Can you please make a video about left thumb position? When I come "back" from throat tones, I always place the thumb too "low", so it doesn't reach the register key.
It's a Selmer in their black series. I'm not sure about the exact model, but it could be a Privilege or Signature (Idk how they're called in English, it's the French name). Hope this helps 😊
I remember when you taught me circular breathing years ago
If it wasn't for this man I couldn't even imagine circular breathing
If it wasn’t for this man I couldn’t imagine breathing
If it wasn't for this man I couldn't imagine
i can only imagine@@ruy738
what will my heart feel
If it wasn’t for this man I couldn’t

When he said he doesn't respond to comments of here low-key hit me like he's making "tip and tricks" videos but they're so helpful
Just got those 2 books yesterday. Already got Gavin and I working on them.
I ordered the 2 books you mentioned and love the exercises. Thanks so much for the awareness alert!

Very good reinforcement!
This was really helpful, thank you
OMG what a good and cool explanation for a beginner. It helps a lot! It is obvious that you love what you do. I can feel it!
Thanks--your videos have helped me a lot!
Life saver! Thanks for sharing! Greetings from the south end of Brazil
Cool joint (pun intended) and Cabin in PA (my home state).

I came here for the Van Gilder's Jubilee sweatshirt. Pocono Pines FTW!

No, the ring comes up, too. The thumb (like everything) just requires practice.
Cool!
Ur lookin gorgeous today
What kind of clarinet is that?? It’s SO nice!
