Thank you for posting this. "Strawberry" Tipton was my father. He passed away in 1985 and was buried on my 23 birthday. I'm now 51 years old now and I cannot believe there is video that has this kind of quality from that far back. I showed this to my boys last night who never met him and had never seen a video of him. It was a special time for me to share with them. Thank you!!
Thank you, doodle was always one of my favorites in the festivals.met him once and talked harmonica after he heard me playing blues with some younger players.what a character .
Momma and Daddy talked about Strawberry a lot ,,,,,said he was my cousin,,,,only met him once when I was young.,,,,,did he work for the sheriff department if so then thats him. Last time I saw him was when aunt Jan passed away. Daddy passed in 90 and I'm 58 now....miss those days.
My father was born and raised across the state line in Muscadine, Alabama and I was to a lesser extent raised there as a young boy. We would travel into Tallapoosa for groceries and such from time to time. My uncle Harvey ran the pool hall there as well. Life happens and we traveled the world but my dad retired back to Tallapoosa and owns a shop on Head Avenue. To this day, there's still a picture of Doodle Thrower outside on the wall. A true treasure. What a musician and a great man.
Best cover of all time lmao #1 banger from some good ol boys what a hot track! Silly ol' mook MC and a ft. from musical genius fruit. Get it strawberry hahah
Great great stuff here - now that's what I call a real classic. Just a few weeks ago I'd been swayin to Joe Filisko & Eric Noden performing this tune live, this is such a treat, thx a bunch fellas!

About the false teeth jokes. Here in the trailer park, bearded Mike sez wut he most preciates bout his lady friend is she can take them teeth out. Old, not dead.
The music and musicianship from the hills has always been exemplary. The people? Not so much. Isolated geographically, mentally and socially with little curiosity or desire to know or understand anyone or anything outside their very small bubble. They are not the “informed populace” the founders hoped would be the citizens who vote. They vote from ignorance and prejudice towards anything new or progressive.

Yes, he worked for the Hall County Sheriff's Department for about 16 years.

a tribute to someone who like a father to me, Gene Daniel. May he rest in peace.
I've heard plenty of different versions of this song, and in my experience it just doesn't seem complete without that harmonica.
