Hay man!!! While we have these in a few race cars, both us and the owenrs didnt realise, when you remove the oil level sensor the oil temp guage on the dash switches to coolant temp.... Nice little fail safe on BMWs behalf and the race cars guys dont care anyway as long as they have coolant temp to keep an eye they dont care. @@ZeroTo60Tube Ahhh mate… Thats terrible news. Have you done anything else to the box since the last time you had it apart? Im not sure if you remember but you gave me some pretty helpful advice when I had my box out. I did replace clutch packs and some other seals and that b drum and bearing that had failed. I rebuilt mechatronics unit too. I put mine back in the car and was most pleased when it ran but, I got 300kms out of it and it shat itself again. I have since bought a donor 4.6 and used a box from that which had a full rebuild from “asnu” transmission services. I have only now got the box back in as doing it on the ground at home is a nightmare but it’s all back together and ready for rego now.
The way Dan has done them in the past is in the custom tune. If there is enough interest i am hoping MHD can add a tickbox so anyone with MHD can do it easily.
@@ZeroTo60Tube that would literally be my only limiting factor. Besides obviously not being $hundreds of dollars to check the oil. I mentioned if we all go together as a group buy we may have more of a chance of this coming to fruition. We'll see how this plays out.
I think he has the machined parts to assemble about 5 more. However at the time of filming we only had the prototyes in atfermarket ECU cars and one race car. We didnt realise the temp sensor for the oil is in the oil level sensor. When you unplug the oil level sensor, the temp guage on the cluster defaults to coolant temp. So these are only really suitable if you dont want oil temp on the factory cluster. @@dariusp5539

I remember you mentioning turbolamik connects to can bus, is that just bmw canbus or would it work with aftermarket ecus namely Haltech? Also do you know if turbolamik can shut off the transfercase for the front wheels? Cheers!
The lamik can work with a lot of canbus versions, actually it just needs définitions. And if you followed the video you saw last video that they did not setup can correctly but initially it would have been there for the haltech. A lot of people using maxxecu etc...about the transfercase...if I remember right that it has some xdrive things or they are working on it. Otherwise there are other solutions out there for this too!
@@maxgr7723 appreciate the reply! Just catching up on content. Thanks!
Max covered it well. Lamik will link to the haltech, but you will need something else to control the transfercase.
@@ZeroTo60Tube appreciate it! Until now I thought it was an all in one unit haha. Guess it's back to research.
@@ttgtomr BEYTEK on youtube is doing a awd RX7 conversion, i think he has done the working out on the transfer case, worth checking out his stuff anyway. He is using lamik for transmission and maxxecu for transfercase.
Hey guys, I know this question comes a few years late, but did you ever get the additional power of the fastchip RStuner verified by dyno? I picked up my own RS 265 after watching some of your vids on the car. I'd really like to get it to 300hp and it seems like the most cost effective way to get it there. Cheers
The rstuner kit is epic. Its supposed to be around 295hp ish, but i was very happy with the kick in midrange power regardless of peak numbers.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Ok, 295hp is close. And you had the downpipe on the car at that point? Any other performance mods? Thanks
@@Rbraden no all factory hardware apart from air filter
I need that clutch solution for my n54
I'd buy one for sure n54
What chassis is yours in?
I would be interested in a dipstick-system for my N46 4-cilinder engine. I do not know whether you have these in Australia….
We do have them in our 320i models. However programming out the factory one, so you dont get errors may be tricky.
cheap linear potentiometers.. i guess you could use old turntable pitch shifter slides?
Dumb question, but do they make one of them fancy manual dipsticks for the E60 535's? Because I don't trust the electronic dipstick on a 500+ hp heavily modded car.
Not yet, but no reason why it can’t be worked out
@@ZeroTo60Tube Awesome, I'll be here when they get one figured out.
I wanna buy that for the n54
The clutch or the dipstick? Why not both….
@@ZeroTo60Tube I am looking into getting another n54 car to dct swap actually but the one I have now is manual so I’m going to keep it a true manual
Very interested in that dipstick kit he has in development! Definitely solves of the most annoying features of these cars!
Hopefully have some e9x e8x test units done this week.
Isn't there an oil temp sensor in the electronic dipstick also?
On the other cars dan has done this too the oil temp still seems to work.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I think that oil temp sensor is used to tell when the car is warmed up for oil level sensing and the m3 cluster rpm gauge.
I would like to purchase the dipstick conversion for a e90 n54 car.
Awesome! We are going to need to get the production ones pumping out sooner than later i think.
Why not use a clutch spring for the replica clutch?
Didnt have anything on hand, but is an option for sure.
when i build my next car. e30, e36, e82. regardless. will have an 8hp so i can smash gears.
I cant wait to hear this rowing the gears with a shift cut, its gonna be mega.
would order several dipsticks for are cars n54 versions, cost?
The whole thing will likely be around $500-$600aud as a retail package. Maybe less if the order numbers are high enough.
Is Dan still producing these manifolds? Have tried emailing and ringing through but got no where.
Sorry man. For every phone call I'm on, somehow I miss 5! I'll get andrew to reach out, I may have what you need on the shelf!
@@danielb9134 Thanks for the response mate, I'd love to be rocking some of your gear!
Dan is gets smashed from what i have seen from being the shop. Shoot me an email at zeroto60tube@gmail.com if you want to get a manifold ordered.
Where do we buy the dipstick kits?
But really these only work for guys running aftermarket ECUs. If that suits you shoot me an email 8speed.au@gmail.com
You should make them for all n5x series motors. I hate having to wait till I’m driving for my car to be able to tell me how much oil my e90 n52b30.
I would absolutely buy one if I knew it would fit on my n52???
hmmmm, i have a suspicsion the N52 will take this kit. However coding out the errors will be a little more tricky.
@@ZeroTo60Tube as long as I can figure out the coding in protools from beemergeeks.?
@@eriqrosado3337 on the n54 its in the DME tune so im not sure if its something you can do with beeamergeeks
How did he manage the wiring for the n54 and is it stock body harness or the e9x harness
All custom wiring. Stock body harness for the e46, however
@@ZeroTo60Tube Thank you, I have a 2004 e46 and I been keeping and eye on the DCT swap bc I think it’s an amazing transition and want to try it for myself
Wow beard is super black, like you have been tailgating a 320d with head out the window
Lol, just for men hair vanity.😂
Guys i gotta hide the greys somehow, doing this stuff is stressful.....
@@ZeroTo60Tube hopefully it all comes together with a major sponsor and some space in the workshop, keep up the great work
Is there a version of that dipstick for an F10 535i N55?
Not yet, not yet. But once the N54 ones are done, we will look in to n55.
Will you be making one for the n63
Making what exactly?
Where can I buy that dipstick for an e90 n54
I will let everyone know when the retail versions are ready to go
Can I get one of these for an e90 n54 please? Just let me know the price. I actually need 2 for me and one to display for sale.
Where are you based?
@@ZeroTo60Tube I’m in The states. North Idaho
@@BoujeeMotorsports sorry for the late reply. Hopefully we will have them ready for international orders in about 2-3 weeks
I haven't even watched the entire video but I want a dipstick! Yesterday prefferbly.
Awesome! We are going to need to get the production ones pumping out sooner than later i think.
This dipstick wants a dipstick 👍would like to see the electronics still part of the assembly though..
So there was a design that encorperated the orginal sensor. Its been put on the back burner for now, as it requires a much larger billet piece and will be a little more expensive. If you are serious, send an email to zeroto60tube@gmail.com and we could maybe get you on a beta tester for the version with the sensor. Just a heads up the sensor version will be around the $600-$800aud mark.
Yes I need one please
Will dip stick work on 535i n54?
Ohhhhh, we would need to do some working out. The fuel lines are the issue on the e8x and e9x chassis. As long as there is clearance in that area, it will work on the e6x chassis.
Any idea if anyone had put the 8HP70 with the BMW M62 in the e39 540i?
Yes lamik has done a few. th-cam.com/video/XxQfInHd3_M/w-d-xo.html
@@ZeroTo60Tube dude that's awesome! Yea I reached out to lamik and just need to email their sales guy for a quote. Thanks for the video! That's gnarly!
is dans forum handle ducky? the powerglide car from back in the day that broke all the quarter mile records? can you send me one of those dip sticks? my car is on maxxecu and i have 0 way of telling oil quality or level. i change my oil twice a week to be careful lol. ps. check your email.
Duck! Yes thats him, he's still the fastest man to drive a true street N54 down the drag strip. We're bringing that car back soon and ghassans record is in our sights. Just in case you didnt know, with the Maxxecu BSD addon, you can check the oil with the maxx. I was just talking to a guy who has it checking oil level much faster than the factory computer as well. That said a dipstick is a no brainer really.
When are we going to see an 8hp in the 4.6is? I’m considering going that way…
Unfortunately I have ran in to some unexpected bills, relating to the man who took my laptop. So the 4.6 will be going up for sale. I can’t afford to keep it unfortunately.
@@marchdeane4896 no, nothing the trans is pretty solid. Shifts are tight even when loaded with a car trailer.
@@ZeroTo60Tube How much are you looking for on the 4.6?
@@marchdeane4896 Probabaly 10-12k?
i want a dipstick! haha
How do you code it out!!
Are the dip sticks for sale yet ?
No.
@ZeroTo60Tube Will your guy make them for individuals by request?
I think he has the machined parts to assemble about 5 more. However at the time of filming we only had the prototyes in atfermarket ECU cars and one race car. We didnt realise the temp sensor for the oil is in the oil level sensor. When you unplug the oil level sensor, the temp guage on the cluster defaults to coolant temp. So these are only really suitable if you dont want oil temp on the factory cluster. @@dariusp5539
Anyone with half a brain would buy the mechanical dipstick tube if it were priced decently. And considering you mentioned the s55 ones being pricey, I'm assuming you would price them decently. I'd say they'd sell well.
Is Brock related to Benny? (Mechanical Stig for MCM viewers) 😂
I dont believe so.....
