I first came across her in a Hex Files: the Goth Bible library book, way back in the 90s. Anna seemed like a mysterious and scary, Nosferatu-like figure then, but now I'm fascinated by her and her work. She also sounds like such an interesting person to chat to (from hearing the audio snippets of her online). Well, as if she would of course.
@EmlynBoyle Yes, I've listened to her interview she gave for some French magazine and It was nice to glance into her inner world in a more casual way. Still as mysterious and one of a kind person as her art🖤
Interesting fact - Anna-Verney is credited in the insert booklet of London After Midnight's Selected Scenes from the End of the World album (1989 first release blue cover). Her contribution is listed as 'All German translations courtesy of Anna-Vaney Cantodea/Soporific Aeternus and The Ensemble of Shadows.)
I also discovered Anna in my late teens via The Goat and Dead Souls. I agree with everything you said! Her work is one of the kind - and I mean that in the best of ways. I also need to be in a certain headspace to listen to her, but when I do it's always a rich and introspective journey. :)
I have been many things since the 90's when I've first listened to Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble of Shadows. Hippie, Goth, Skinhead, Techno Freak, Hip-Hop, Punk, Black Metal and now a dirty looking skater that enjoys graffiti too much. I was always fascinated by our demise and Anna Varney nailed the imagery bar none! Simple as that. No other artist could match my idea of personification of the deceased.
@lightbright4996 Yes, I remembered that right after I released the video, shame on me😅I hope that most people won't notice my mistake. Anyways, thank you for watching 🖤
Sounds incredible!! I remember at age 12 which was in 1982 and I was into Adam ant and Gary human. At the time I lived in jeddah Saudi Arabia. That alone was a culture shock being from California. I remember watching "decline of the western civilization " from Penelope spheeris. I was introduced to the sex pistols. Lol I remember being fascinated and entranced. I was in love and that was it. New wave goth crossed into punk then later industrial. We all have our moods and some of us very eclectic tastes. I will definitely give this a try. I think it will be a beautiful addition to my list💚
As one French journalist wrote about this project (not verbatim) - you have to have one foot in the grave and the other in a mental hospital to love this kind of music😅Not very far from that, but I still recommend it
You know what, I think that's exactly what I had in mind, but for some reason I mentioned kabuki. It's been so long since I've dealt with the first releases that it's all a blur in my memory. Thanks for the reminder🖤
Thank you so much for introducing me to this amazing artist. I have been listening to her music. It was captivating and so heartfelt. Some of what I've listened to felt like East European folk. It's almost like a precursor to Goth music or perhaps a blending of the two. One track I recognised was a version of 'Bang, bang, he shot me down'. An interesting interpretation. Thank you again, and for everything you do.
"How a depressive transvestite from Frankfurt/Main with long fingernails made good early-work albums entirely by accident and tried to stay relevant by releasing DeadLovers 1+2 copys masked as new albums every year! You won't believe how hard he dropped the ball!" would be the title of a video i would make about this musician,if,IF i wouldn't get sued due to too much inside knowledge and the fear of Viktor rising from the grave to say "dude...stop. Every album sounds bad, what the f00k is your issue man" Tudelooo folks
This is just empty chatter from a person unknown to me, who has not released a single worthwhile album, but only slanders the name of a cult figure in the gothic scene. What are your words worth? I don't care much about the details of the artist's personal life, I perceive a work|art and this is all that is given to me. And what you are doing here is not worthy.
Such an Artist Anna!!!! Her Music is etheral and out of time ! An experience to change life….

I'm glad that I've dropped here from nowhere but also sad for not knowing your channel before.
Welcome to my channel and thank you😊

Despite Anna’s music not being exactly to my taste (although some of the songs are bangers). I have lots of respect for her and her art. Great video!

couldn't say better🖤
3:00 I would say she has a dirrect influence from butoh dancing. Not much kabuki.
I hope other people will discover her through your videos.

That's some decent and extraordinary experience I'm glad that I brought something new to it🖤🖤
New to me but I will check them out.

I have one of her albums from a long time ago. Have you seen any Butoh performances? I think she may have been influenced by that as well.
You know what, I think that's exactly what I had in mind, but for some reason I mentioned kabuki. It's been so long since I've dealt with the first releases that it's all a blur in my memory. Thanks for the reminder🖤
Продолжай в том же духе! Привет от готов с Казахстана 🖤
I never would've thought Kabuki theater if u hadn't said it
I forgot to mention Butoh😬
I Love you
Helga Keturka, I don't know if it's rude to ask - what is your native language?
Not rude at all, it's Russian/Belarusian😉

It's so nice to know that, you're so kind and I'm glad you liked the video and of course her music🖤
