i pretty much agree with this analysis. there isn't a single thing that made gura popular, it's just a lot of things that happened to all work together to really propel her
He didnt go in depth but her popularity is also because of how influntial her old persona was in creating long lasting internet memes add the rest, her staying away from male collabs and you got yourself a sucess. So she never lost that appeal for people that want just idol expiriance while being like super street smart sure she plays up into the "lol dumb at math" jokes but overall she is very inteligent. As for hiring i wouldnt really take some of the hiring menagers as a golden standart, sure Holo in most cases alwaus hits with their vtubers most cases not alwats but most but sometimes things like family and freind hire while others miss their while also hiring complete psychos at times. but yea for the most part Holo never misses but many other agencies tend to not be so great at hiring process
What you said about comparing things is how I feel about the Sub vs Dub argument. To say that either Japanese or English acting is better that the other is an insult to the time and effort they put into learning that skill. They just have different styles of acting. The Japanese are usually more dramatic while English actors prefer to be more subtle with their acting. There's a bunch of things I don't like about Japanese acting, like when they want to make a character sound "sexy" they end up sounding like they're having an orgasm, and I've also been disappointed in the acting of English voice actors not putting enough effort into their performance. Obviously, I have heard objectively bad voice acting, but that's usually people who have no training and don't know what they're doing.
I never could gel with Gura, or Shiori, even though I know both of their previous roles (with Shiori being a gigasenpai in the industry). I don't hate em or anything, I guess I'm just too old and too ...I don't even know...to enjoy 'irony poisoned' people anymore, not just vtubers but 'irony' in general. Fuwamoco are great, for example, nothing but positivity. Shiori ..man I wanna really get into her but I can't, she knows what she's doing, she's not lazy, but I just cannot shake the vibe of her not taking any of it seriously. If you're a fan of hers, don't take it badly, I 100% realize she hits the spot just right for some people, just not myself...not anymore...

I wonder what it is that separates Holo from others in hiring.
I think Hololive understands Gura is so marketable now, see Dodgers x Hololive is led by Gura singing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game”.
5:04 Well said.
"numberfag" is a 4chan term you see on /vt/ a lot when someone talks about a person who talks a lot about subscribers, view counts on streams, etc.
