  • IF THE VIDEO IS HELPFUL IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF YOU WOULD CONSIDER SUBSCRIBING, THANK YOU...........................................Video showing the location of the MAP sensor on a 1996 Corolla AE102. I have put MAF ( mass air flow ) in the title as that is most people will be looking for. They are very expensive to replace, so be careful when removing the wiring loom clip....................

    So could you please tell me what is the conical shaped sensor in the lower section of the air box? its held in with a rubber grommet?? cheers

    • @johnvienta7622
      @johnvienta7622  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From a search on the internet it appears to be a sensor that informs the engine management module of the temp of the air entering via the air filter.

    Can you clean it when it is still attached to the car??

    • @johnvienta7622
      @johnvienta7622  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I suppose the simple answer is no, as the parts that can be cleaned are inside the housing and it is by design waterproof so it would be pretty well impossible to spray the parts without undoing it.

    Hi
    Do you know where is the maf sensor is
    Thanks john

    • @johnvienta7622
      @johnvienta7622  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My model does not actually have a MAF sensor, i wrote that in the heading as many people refer to the sensor shown as the Mass Air Flow sensor.... I was confused at first as there are no electrical connections after the air filter box, where it would normally be located, but made a few inquiries and found that the MAP ( manifold absolute pressure sensor ) is fitted to this model.. Apologies for causing confusion.

      John Vienta you reckon do i need to clean it with the maf cleaner

    • @johnvienta7622
      @johnvienta7622  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@brianh4496 , yes, that is what i used. it dries without leaving residue and has no negative impact on the part itself. Some people say that electrical cleaner can be used but best to be sure. Let it sit for about 10 minutes after spraying, and i hope that you manage to unclip it safely. Bit expensive for one little job, unless you have other vehicles that require the MAF sensors to be cleaned.

      John Vienta do you know how to stop oil from burning i am using 15w 40 and when i start up it come out blue smoke

    • @johnvienta7622
      @johnvienta7622  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brianh4496 , I was having a think about the cleaner for the MAP sensor and electrical contact cleaner will probably be fine as there are no actual sensor wires as in the MAF. That is your choice though, as i always use MAF cleaner. As for the blue smoke, there are so many reasons for that problem that I would not know where to start. O2 sensors, PCV valve, worn seals etc. You would have seen various additives in the accessory shops so i suppose you could check the reviews of the various brands and then decide if that is where you want to start. i cannot see a problem with the grade of oil you are using..... is it still blowing blue smoke after a decent run, or just on start or acceleration. that may help you narrow down the possibilities.

    • @johnvienta7622
      @johnvienta7622  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not done one, however i seem to recall seeing one on TH-cam. I used MAF sensor cleaning spray as it does not leave residue and is safe for electrical connections, and obviously also for MAF sensors. I just sprayed each part of the connection after it was separated then gave it 10 minutes to dry before clipping it together again.

      @@keithc8108 , no, but there was not a problem with the sensor, I just wanted to look at it and clean it as I am more familiar with the Mass Air Flow sensors which are usually near the air filter. It certainly did not cause any negative issues.
