I love the sound that Gentex Commander 3's and 4's make. This might not be a popular opinion, but I think that Gentex Commanders are the best fire alarms you can get
I 100% agree. They're very effective alarms.
I agree, they’re really nice. Metal mounting brackets won’t snap, and they have all the candela and tone settings for every application (except low frequency obviously).
highly agree, the mounting, that loud, yet okay for the ears noise, the design. Even the name, Gentex Commander 3. That just sounds mean and good.

I think they should do wall mounted only cause they would stop some kids from seeing and it will make it better for kids
Those alarms are the ones we have in my school
And they are really really really loud
The fire alarms in my school are the Wheelock hsr exceader fire alarms.

Yeah I was not in town when they were doing the annual inspection. I'll try and be there next year to see what I can do.

My school has those same door alarms
That red door alarm sounds like one of those LRAD devices that the police use to disperse rioters. Also the pixeling of things such as things on the wall and that TV is that something new?

Gentex Commander 3 and 4 Fire alarms paired with Silent Knight Addressables.. Weird pair
It’s not really unusual; a lot of Fire-Lite/Silent Knight installers are also Gentex installers.
ironmatic 1 That’s also done with Wheelock, Wheelock and Silent Knight are the most seen by me. So I thought this was weird
@@ooka7705 it's very common to see Gentex or system sensor on silent knight systems
That is ok as long as true alerts are not installed on non simplex panels(True alert devices' strobes can go bananas when not on a simplex panel.Maybe the reason is that simplex panels send out a syncing pulse to sync the strobes and other panels does not have this feature.)

@S.E.R. Safety how in the heck did you get your school(s) to let you assist on these kinds of things? I have made it my goal to convince my school to let me assist in a drill before I graduate rofl. Priorities in order 100%
SYGMAH You’re not alone. I tried getting permission in high school but was denied the request too. Now I’m at a safety security job at a school so if students come back I’ll be able to help conduct drills.

Yes, I made sure it was. I also had my fire department radio with me. Thankfully I never heard the call come in. 😋

downpat27 Yes. That’s a reasonable assumption. However, some older panels don’t have the drill capability. So if the alarm goes off the fire department will be notified. For newer systems, the dialing feature is disabled. Hope that helps. @S.E.R. Safety, I hope I’m explaining this correctly. Please respond when you have a chance. Thank you.

@@camaronruss9476 I just got done swapping out every horn strobe and strobe in 2 schools due to no sync on the strobe. 4 days of PW so I wasn’t mad lol.

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they update technology where you can set off the fire alarms with your phone.
Simplex / Johnson Controls has that as an option.
@@bspage1984 I think that’s crazy. What if everyone has that installed on their phone? Ignorant people will think it’s not as bad as pulling the pull station, but still an app allows anyone access to the alarm. That would be pretty chaotic I think.
