This video is really helpful/informative - thank you. I'm a new Medium writer (started in January of this year) and it was definitely a learning curve. I've found that submitting to publications has been key to getting the right readers for my posts, as well as to getting boosted. Most of my income from Medium is from boosted stories.

Hi! Medium is a relational platform and it's all about relationships. I think what Sinem and Zulie mean is to spend more time writing stories instead of commenting and interacting. Similar to the tip to create more than you consume. Engagement is super important because it helps us to be seen. Unfortunately, only 1% of our followers interact with us. That's what we have to keep in mind. I'm often surprised to get emails or DMs from people who have been following me for years but I never saw them in the comments. So make sure there's a good balance between engaging and writing.

Try to get more followers so that whenever medium introduces MPP in Pakistan, I'll not be a beginner anymore. Or should i look for another platform that pays for writing?

Are they actually making a living by writing on Medium, or is it from a combination of courses, TH-cam videos, newsletters, and clients? I thought Zulie said in a recent video that she doesn't even make $100 a month for writing on Medium.
Hi, both make 100K writing online. Both were featured by Business Insider and had to be transparent about their earnings. I asked Sinem to get back to you with a response. How does Medium verify books published? Because I'm thinking someone can create a really crappy Kindle-published ebook with a single page of rubbish content and use that just to get a verified author checkmark.
haha, I know what you mean. At the moment there are so many crappy eBooks on Kindle (Unlimited) and I'm happy you now have to disclaim if you've created something with AI, but that's another story. Several of my writing students already have the verified book badge. Their goal is to also sell their books. So it would be a waste of time to create crap. But for sure there will be people who try to game the system. But I have also heard of writers whose applications were rejected. Here are the requirements: You need to have published a book. You simply need to have an account on Medium, a profile with complete information. (No need to pay the monthly subscription for Medium membership No need to be enrolled in the Medium Partner Program (MPP) to earn money on your writing.) Hope this helps. Medium is undergoing A LOT of changes (no worries, I'll keep you posted here and on Medium). To earn money you now have to join and pay 5 USD per month or 50 per year. There's also a new friend tier for people who want to support the writers more (it's 150 p.a.). The moment you become a paying member and get accepted into the Medium Partner Program you can start earning! The 100 followers threshold is a thing of the past.
