Some students from my college tragically lost their lives in a similar accident. The Ertiga they were travelling in, collided head-on with a truck and the impact tore the roof just like this accident. The passengers in the first two rows of seats lost their lives and the two passengers sitting in the last row survived with severe injuries. The accident took place during the night and they were not under any alcohol influence.There wasn't much coverage on the accident, so hard to know the actual reasons for the accident. I'm guessing they were speeding and the driver could've misjudged or may have lost control. But the takeaways from these accidents? Be extra careful while driving during the night and especially extra careful with the trucks!
I have seen how college students drive and ride in Bangalore where i live. I Can tell you without a doubt that half of them won't make it past 30-35. Because this kind of reckless riding will not spare anyone. They dont care and ride like there is no tomorrow. I was close to getting myself lillked many times but lucky enough to not.
When i was a student in Delhi, i had a maruti zen, but i seldom drove it. The chaos and the unruly behavior of other drivers were enough to dampen my enthusiasm.

From Rohtak: Last year 4 young boys drove a 15 year old honda city at 130 and crashed it. All 4 died. No drinks, nothing. Just immaturity. One boy had been selected for Airforce last week. He was our neighbors younger son. That family is perpetually in gloom. They have lost all happiness. Its horrible.

Besides other factors, Indian automobiles, roads and driving skills required and tested by RTOs' are not designed for high speed driving.
