    Watching your excellent videos, I cannot but envy you for your magnificent opportunities of photographing wildlife - and I realize how poor an area as to nature and wildlife I live in (Southern Germany).

    Another excellent morning breakfast watch. I really love these travelogue style videos, maybe I’ll go one day, maybe I won’t, whichever, this gives a lovely taste of this beautiful location.

    Another really great video, made better because it’s from a reserve I visit regularly in the winter months. There have been at least 4 types of owl this year: long and short eared, barn and little owl. I was in the queue of cars you mentioned at about 12 mins into the video. There were marsh harriers nesting just about 20 metres from the road, give superb views and photography opportunities . The ability to use your car as a hide makes the reserve really special. It gets a lot of flack because it is privately owned and charges an entrance fee. But it is well run and well worth the fee. Hope to see you there again in the future.

    What a great place. Enjoyed learning more about the lapwings, and the owl was the icing on the cake!

    Really good to see this from Elmley - I went there earlier this year after "discovering" it on Roger Hance's channel. Thank you for continuing to share your camera settings as well as all the hints and tips along the way. My tip for anybody going there via the Dartford Crossing is to make sure you pay the toll online - it was all a mystery to me having more experience of toll roads which have a barrier and pay booth - the Dartford crossing simply takes a snapshot of your number plate and waits for you to pay via the internet. (There are signs telling you to pay online but no indication of how their system works).

    There is a national wildlife refuge about 25 miles from here. Made up of forest, wetlands and the Cumberland River. My favorite place to photograph all kinds of birds from March through November. You never know what you will see there. :)

    My old stomping ground when I lived in Kent. I miss the days when it was free entry and before the shorties became so well known so you could stop where you liked to photograph them.
    I have finally managed to sell my EM1x (at a huge loss) and have ordered the OM1.

    Thanks for the video. Could you please do a video on how you edit your videos, slow down a 25 fps video, tips n tricks?

    I thought you sold the Sony and kept the OM-1. Did you change your mind? Or do you still have both?

      The Sony is sold. I have lots of video and stills not yet seen.

    I wished we had such a nature reserve where I live, Switzerland, has of course nature reserves, but not with such an easy access for photographers, it’s the opposite). Thanks for sharing. Besides, Sony a1? Didn’t you post a video you go with the OM-1 and the ED150-400?

    Thanks Mike for another great video and looking forward to visiting Elmley. Just wondering when exactly you found it to be best in the spring to go as, like you, it’s a very long journey for me. Also which bean bag are you using at 1111 and is it the pre-filled polystyrene or do you use dried peas or similar. Really appreciate you sharing your vast knowledge. All the best Doug

      @MikeLaneFRPS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best time will vary from year to year. April and May would be my favourite months. The bean bag is full of beans as I like it to be heavy and is found on my web site at www.wildlifephotographyshop.com/Grippa_Bean_Bag/p2203723_10921159.aspx

    Another question for you regarding video. I am just getting into this. What settings do you use for video and post? Any tips?

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Huge question Mike. Take a book to answer. I use Powerdirector for editing, shoot at 4k mostly. use all sorts of frame rates and do not understand all the codec options.
