I have a boat, but I actually prefer going from bridges bowfishing actually. Proabably because I'm usually alone though. Nobody to control boat while I shoot. Polarized glasses are a must! Indeed.
I used these tips and it actually landed me 4 fish on my 2nd day bowfishing. I'd say the most important tips are: Clothes you wear ( match with environment/sky) Take soft slow steps when walking along the shore, the fish can feel you moving & talking. They definitely can. Sit there and stalk behind a shrub if you can but still visible enough to shoot where you need to. I would sit there and stalk for about 5 minutes, then move, and repeat. ( creek was loaded so I didn't need to sit as long, I just kept moving up the stream until I couldn't then would slowly make my way down) When you aim at the fish, aim lower. A few inches. I got those in 4 in 1 hour.
6:24 I don’t live in Wisconsin but here in Maryland I believe it’s to protect spawning trout and rock fish as well as other threatened species because it’s pretty hard to see in that rough water and you don’t want to shoot the wrong fish
Super video. You are an amazing shot with that sling bow. I had no idea that style of bow is so effective. Great fun watching video. Might need to invest in a sling bow.
wow. 30 (more?) years ago I would bowfish for carp by a little, "wrench operated" dam between Camp Lake and Cetnter Lake in Kenosha county... I either wasn't aware of that law, or it wasn't on the books yet... It was only a 126 acre lake, but there would be MANY THOUSANDS of carp boiling in that small channel on spring break... Great memory as a kid. Fertilizer for everyone on the lake... shoot all day and never seemed to make a dent. scary fish...
10ft step ladder is a huge help. Sit up just like a deer stand and take potshots as passing fish. Locate yourself by weeds with current and youre in em thick
Great clip man. What is the nifty slingbow called that you using please. I am from South Africa so I wonder if it would be available here at all? Cheers D
Hey Sam, I spearfish in the keys a lot, this may sound stupid but will your slingbows work underwater? I used to have this thing they called a Hawaiian sling that was just a wooden cylinder with a hole the size of the steel spearshaft drilled through the center that had a rubber tube tied on and you shot it like a slingshot. I think your sling bows would work a lot better. Maybe even substitute a stainless shaft for the arrow?
I live in Palm coast, you can come down and crash on my couch for a couple days if you want to try it out, I think it would work great. Maybe use the stainless shaft and something a little tighter than a whisker biscuit.
Polaroid sunglasses make a huge difference seeing into water. A polaroid filter on the camera would've given us a closer picture of what he was seeing with polaroid sunglasses.
I have a friend slingbow, so that the rubber tubes are yellow, I want to replace the black just wanted to know that stuff is? Does exercise are not rubber!
Why not eat it? This whole "trash fish" thing is dumb. People enjoy carp all over the world but some Americans repeat this meme to not eat free food. If you don't want to eat it, fine but why not donate it to a local family or an elderly or disabled person who would?
@@lightfeather9953 Growing up that’s the only fish that my grandmother would buy. If you could eat the entire filet that was either perch or catfish. Which meant my mother or Uncle Charlie had bought it. But if you bit into it and it was oily and nasty that was carp. Hell! The fish market was giving that shit away. My grandmother made me a carp sandwich for my lunch. That crap stunk up the entire school. Took weeks for that odor to dissipate. Eat that shit if you want to but keep away from me.
"be sneaky" runs through brush at 6:40 lmao just givin ya crap haha im going at night this saturday wish me luck

Sweet video Sam, good info there. I'll be getting a magnum from ya shortly. I'm tired of lugging the big bow to the walk-in spots.

turtles swim. They are water animals after all. Tortises are land animals.

Why not get a real bow instead of a sling shot?
Johanon Zimmerman I switched from a real bow to Slingbow for more of a challenge and haven’t went back
Carp! You ain't gonna eat that shit, are ya?
They look like barbel to me! If they are it's a shame to arrow them as they're supposed to be fantastic on rod and line.
