    I was a "properly trained" Porsche tech once and serviced the FIRST Porsche "Turbo" at the dealership. This boat is awash in the Porsche ethos. From my first 356 Coupé rebuild all the way to that Turbo - this boat is a floating homage to ALL things Porsche. I'm transported back to the late 70's / early 80's when Porsche was literally THE World standard. This vessel carries that history well. On the occasion of my revisit to this video, please thank all who helped bring this to us - and for your bravery, Nick, in starting Aquaholic... we've all won because of it. 5/13/21

    Aquaholic, you do the absolute best walk-throughs of any yacht. Interestingly, I watched the broker's walk-through and was thinking, "man, I wish Aquaholic would do a video on this yacht". And here you are. I like the layout and the technical features, but my tastes lean more towards the Italian designed interiors. Also, an aerial view showed this thing bobbing around in the water like it was a ping pong ball.

    Great video. One of the things I have learned working for Super Yacht owners is the boat is never big enough :) (I have only dealt with those owned by those in the $XX billion range). I have to work hard at times, but it's hardly work when you are on a super yacht and your desk is it's bar (although I can't have a drink, the views are beautiful). Also despite what people think, these individuals do take care of their staffs, there are rules; but at the end of the day you are respected.

    Now to rummage down the back of the settee.
    Incredible boat, but there are things I’d change. Like the galley, could be bigger and a better layout.
    Shame we couldn’t see the crew accommodation, that to me is very important.
    Very nice though, the decor is superb. I was looking for the Porsche designs and trying to spot them before you pointed them out.
    I really like the fact it dares to be different, the design is so different to the vast majority of yachts.

    I agree with a couple of the comments about carpet, the missed opportunity for a car steering wheel, etc., but I love the curves and innovative design. The circular mess (dinette) at the back. The look of the front cabin of the boat. The GLORIOUS master bed. The amount it would cost to change the little things is not much compared to how many of the big things they got uniquely right.

    Wow, Nick does it again, superlative tour, the engine, tech is fantastic, buying this is the cheap part, refits engine maintenance ,crew, yearly costs, cheaper to rent for a month in the med, I think when we have total solar on this kind of ship and no need to take on sea water for engine cooling, this will be a great buy then, minimum maintenance, unlimited range, no coatings to replace that have been corroded with salt water etc, all my uncle's were marine engineers, when I was young they told me of all of this, one uncle was an marine engineer on the Qe2 ,I was at the launch , but what a ship

  • @AaronSmith-kr5yf
    @AaronSmith-kr5yf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This has to be the most stunningly beautiful yacht I've seen in this size range. I mean even without the Porsche decor this ship looks the business. As for the Porsche design and colors, I'd have gone with a less busy carpet in the lower deck. Maybe taken some design inspiration from the 928 for the lower deck, that car had all kinds of funky chocolate brown, lighter brown, 3 different shades of tan, red, brick red, orangish red, maroon, blue, light grey, dark grey, grey combined with black etc interior options with some rather wild cloth upholstery choices. You could even get a green interior on a 928 lol.

  • @meadmaker4525
    @meadmaker4525 5 ปีที่แล้ว +263

    For a 115, she's frankly pretty cramped and uncomfortable looking on the inside. I'm guessing they chose to sacrifice beam for speed, or perhaps it's just poor design...or both. The rear glass doors should be automatic for this kind of money, but then they open into a giant round dining table that's right in your way, forcing you to edge your way around it to get into the tiny main salon?! Yachts in this price range should make people gasp at the grandeur of the design when those doors first open, not make people wonder, "Wait, is that it? You paid how much for this?" Serious design fail.
    I like the bow design and the general shape of the exterior, but the interior would have to be gutted, a complete do-over. What were they thinking? A subtle nod to Porsche cars is one thing, but what moron thought putting giant houndstooth carpeting throughout the entire lower level was a good idea? It's no wonder they're coming down on price. I think they're going to have a very, very hard time moving this one. Sounds like they went cheap on tankage, as well. There are smaller yachts with twice the advertised range of this one. Fast is great, but it needs longer legs.
    And the helm...my god, the helm. After you walk sideways into the awkward, cramped, inelegant helm area, you're greeted with a single seat, ridiculous-looking controls, undersized screens and nowhere for your guests to sit while you show off your new toy.
    I'm amazed this thing made it into production without someone saying, "Wait! Stop! This thing is stupid as it is! We have to redo all these bits or no one is going to take us seriously!" Or maybe they just figured people with more money than sense will buy it just because it says Porsche on it.
    Sadly, they're probably right.

    • @visionist7
      @visionist7 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It's also kind of ugly, although that's subjective. They should have gone further with the Porsche inspiration; Porsche switchgear in the wheelhouse and throughout the boat, for starters, and of course a Porsche steering wheel. I do however see that the aft doors are motorized; he shows them opening & closing when talking about the dining room.
      Above all the whole boat should be carbonfibre, increasing acceleration if not too speed, and increasing the range.
      And doubling the price.

  • @lizsteeds6697
    @lizsteeds6697 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    After the crustaceous excesses of some of the super yachts Arab Sheikhs and Russian oligarchs flaunt, the lean muscularity and salient nautical design/ architecture and aesthetic of this yacht screams magnificent. All elements have been considered and beautifully machined and rendered, form following function, and nowhere is this expressed so eloquently as in the detail of the outside mid-deck staircases. Constructed of aluminium and teak, they epitomise, with their nod to Avian aerodynamics and curvilinear geometry, the drive for engineered performance excellence evident throughout the construction of this vessel (quintessentially Porsche ).
    Immaculate interior details, like the black and white hounds tooth carpeting work well (60s Porche upholstery nod that I think is fekkin perfect, unlike the majority of other people reacting to this post.) The graphic black and white contrasts with the lush, dark palette of materials, textures and colours of the living and sleeping quarters and punches a crisp, spare elegance into the scheme, complimenting the buttery camel-coloured leather /macassar ebony / carbon-fibre finishes and matte saddlebrown basins in the en suites.
    The choice of a pared back vintage collection of furniture like the woven leather/metal sundeck barstools and Eames inspired chairs/tables lends mid-century designer minimalism curated for the 21st Century. What perfection. Other yacht interior designers must look and weep ... let alone the outstanding performance parameters and engineering of the yacht itself.
    I know I do (weep) because I can't afford one ... sigh ...

    Just when I thought I have seen all your videos, I stumbled upon this one.
    Wow have you changed. Definitely for the good.
    I wish you could get on this yacht again and give a more detailed tour of every area.
    I didn't see the showers in the guest accommodations or crew cabins.
    Very lackluster on detailing the galley and many other things. And, of course, did not get to see the engines.
    So thank God you have grown in your presentations.
    I'm not holding it against you because you're the best the best and we don't have to start somewhere.
    Oh and by the way... You actually look older then you do now.

    Unless you're a Porsche lover, this yacht has VERY limited appeal. It's too over the top with the Porsche theme.

    • @AQUAHOLIC
      @AQUAHOLIC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Yacht taste is very personal, I agree that it is quite a specialised yacht, which I think will focus its appeal (so appeal strongly, but to a smaller audience perhaps compared with more conventional designs. But that unconventionality will be its strength to those it does appeal to - it looks and feels very unique). The Porsche theme I personally think is really well managed. The Pepita houndstooth check is pretty vivid in places but very easily swapped out if required. Most other Porsche references most people who don't get them wouldn't even spot them. The colour for example, yes it's a Porsche colour, but aside from that it is a really fantastic colour, it looks amazing shimmering in the Med sunshine. The Porsche spoiler bar tops are really obvious once you know - but I didn't spot them at all during my initial tour prior to filming until they were pointed out!

      @chr.burmeister 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Corn Fed, it doesn't matter if it has VERY limited appeal, because the yacht it self is EXTREMELY limited.
      This is one out of seven. Even if this ONLY appealed to all the people of the highest rank in Porche and they wanted one, they couldn't get it. There's not enough yachts :)

      @chr.burmeister 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That being said, I liked your comment, because this is probably the last thing I would want to see in a boat. I mean, the lighting over the bed (04:13) is perfect if you want to make a porn movie, but most of the time people are actually tired when they go to bed, tired when they wake up, and inbetween they are ....sleeping. The carpet is terrible and the brown leather behind the bed is a no go.

      I am a huge Porsche and PD(Porsche Design) lover but in my opinion, this boat hull design is a failure it looks like a fancy tugboat. I would like to see more reference on hull shape to Porshe cars, paint color, tiny details, and some materials aren't enough.
      Fearless Yachts by Porsche Design made a pretty nice small boat in the past so I know they can do way better with yachts. It is just my personal opinion (as an architect with some knowledge and experience in design I think I can criticize ''colleagues'') on the other hand I guess the owner was involved in the process a lot and sometimes it makes things go in a bad direction.
      BTW I love Porsche as I said before and definitely, I will get my dream 911 991.2 Carrera S in near future.

    It is a really beautiful yacht, but I suspect the very high price is due to the branding like it is with the cars where the smallest component costs a fortune to add or replace. Clever and innovative with great mileage. I would personally stick with other designs that give more for less 😊. It is too much like super cars that are extremely expensive, but are impractical and are just for showing off your wealth. I will stick with my yachts under 5 million 🤣. Thanks for showing us this super yacht Nick, and I’m glad you got to experience it 😊

    This definately looks to be more of a party boat than a family boat. Loads of seating on the sundeck and a tiny galley in the crew area only. Nothing wrong with that though. It's good to have different kinds for different people.

I also like the fact that the TV's are wall mounted and not rising up, they can go horribly wrong usually when you've just settled down to watch something. Decor not so much a bit hairy chested wannabee racing driver for my taste, But if your a rich Porsche fan who knows.

    How do these yachts stand up in heavy seas? All the fancy knick knack things would be stored of course but would the hull flex. Would all the stuff bolted down stay that way. Would she roll? Pretty to look at but is it just better to stay anchored at the dock rather than risk battering it apart in a minor blow.

  • @Chalto

    The boat itself is just gorgeous, some of the decor, not so much (especially the carpets). Love the limited, but quality cabins, many smaller boats just squeeze too much in. If I was lucky enough to own one like this, I'd want it to feel as spacious below deck as it is above, and I like the way that the crew areas are essentially all in one place, so one can shut them away out of view (and I mean that in the nicest way) :-)
    Nice review as always :-)
