- In this video, Kris Keefer and Jay Clark go over a 2003 Suzuki RM125 bike rebuild and talk about the history of the machine. Kris and his son Aden ride the machine and then provide insight on this throwback video.
Keefer used to race an RM125 back in the day, so he also compares the machine to what he remembered riding as a kid. Aden then shares his feedback on his experience riding the old machine.

Here's a clue as to why people love 2 strokes: NOBODY stands around making 4 stroke noises. Long live Braaaaappppppp!
I mean I guess they do by making fart sounds
Great build by Michael Fischer! This thing is a beauty.
Beating guys on 450’s on my 2007 RM 125 so can’t be that slow!
Vet class hero lol 😎
which jetting do you have i ride 08 rm 125 its slow when track is deep or sand
@@vwgtdturbo jettin really depends on your elevation
I find sand tire make huge difference even on 125
@@alexarmstrong1134 yes but most people ride sea level,i ride 2008er 40pilot 2nd clip 370 main that pro circuit jetting, rm 125 too slow for 110 rear tyre.
People love 125s because they are really the only big bike you can hop on and truly ride 100% wide-open. A good rider can get on one and actually feel like they are pushing the bike at or very near its limit. There's no way you can do that with a 450, and honestly, I don't think you can do it with the 250 either.
Hey Racer X...
Very nice build, great look!
I have word Shimoda is riding a 450 in Japan today, cant wait for MXON
At 59, my 250 RM 2stroke was too much for me to handle so I’m in the process of rebuilding a 03 RM125 to keep going.
BTW I make 4stroke sounds on the toilet.
son js7 hittin laroccos leap on 125
Funny of Jay to call out Keefer on the big bore. Wasn't it originally Vuilleman when Keefer was racing a KTM "125" jumping triples from the inside?
I have a 04RM125 and my Buddy has a 2022 YZ 125X And my bike will run right with it
Hehe Suzuki rm 125 was great for its time. But honestly it did lack the power in comparsion to the rest. Has the new generation got spoiled? I am on dad keef on this one, more skills required and to keep that thing pinned. Thus i am not sure a stock rm would be even close in comparsion to what Millsaps and Jesseman rode back in the day, those factory engines was night and day better than what the average dude could ride.
Anyway if you ask me these bikes are perfect for technique and the kids should use the 125 as a transition when they get of the superminis.
Cool build Keef and Clark, nostalgia is inportant aswell 👍🏼
Im rebuilding one very nice bike
I need jay to help me jet my 03 RM250 ported and polished running on T2, she’s a beaut of a garage build just need the man the get this thing dialed in 😂
What Sprocket size gearing was you running
Wow the Keefer’s are a total buzz kill on this build… It looked like they were going fast, little Keefer was definitely ripping.
What bar mount is it please
Boggin' 4 life.
"Evolved" as in stopping all development on 2 strokes and putting all R&D and the doubling of the displacement on 4 strokes.
After 20 years of no development there almost as fast as a bike with double the displacement. Go ahead compare the same size engines with both types then tell me which is so slow.
This is a second reason I tried to die
