Compared to the marketing campaign for Force of Will TCG years ago, Grand Archive seems to be stepping in the right direction. I feel that it needs a successful Anime / Manga series to really get more new people into the game.
Honestly i believe that this game have a chance to go far, the art is amazing, the play style is also very unique and also the new sealed pack coming out looks interesting and good for sealed battles as well, hope to see this game go far :)
This game has been a heap of fun to play and the initial prize support has been great with gold and silver promo packs. Our LGS has been running a starter deck league for the last 3 weeks which has had some good support from our staunch FAB community. I just hope WotS can manage the game play going forward so that each hero/archetype is playable. At the moment I feel like there is only one or two viable competitive decks.
It has some DNA from a lot of games. Personally I think MTG+YGO is more accurate since I don't think FaB would have been around to influence in the early stages. It certainly has a lot to like from a bunch of different games

Hey, just wanted to say as a mod for the facebook community discussion group, I LOVE videos like this and would love to discuss more with anyone who may be interested in the game :D
Great game. Has some cool mechanics. Like you said, the anime style is both a pro and con for it. I think it will do well for a while. Will it survive the wild west of TCGs we are in now? Who knows? But thanks for covering it!
i really hope the game takes off in my scene after a couple of us start playing it a bit, but i don't expect as much since our scene is pretty small overall. but the game is pretty fun. the way the game ramps up to the endgame with level 3 heroes is really interesting--do it too soon and you're all out of gas, but too late and your opponent probably hit their spike turns first. and rai is hella fun!
I feel in the current state of TCG genre, gamers r wanting unique games and are giving other new tcgs a chance. All tcgs mentioned are unique and feel I they all will survive. Grand Archive has been been selling out here in PHX and Brooklyn 🎉🎉🎉 Clash will be showing up for me in 2 weeks from my Kickstarter im geeked!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥😁😁
I played this for the first time two weeks ago. The champion leveling up system reminded of Vanguard. I enjoyed the game a lot but I enjoy the anime TCG game space. Flesh and Blood is the only non-anime style TCG that I play.
This game looks stunning (if you like the anime style!), and the gameplay certainly sounds like it has enough to distinguish it from other TCGs. I'm looking forward to cracking the box that arrived today. I hope they manage the supply well, since that's something that is heavily impacting adoption of the One Piece TCG right now. The boxes are so expensive!
Red Rogue Zone loves this game and I see many people playing it. For me the anime style is actually a no go. And I suspect that many people won't play it for the same reason. But like Marge Simpson said: I just hope that everyone have fun :)
I refuse to believe the commentary is post recording. Instead i believe DMA has 4 arms. GA is a fun game but the anime asthetic really makes it hard for me to want to dive into any more than as a side game. I like Rei because he gives me Kano vibes but anime. The gameplay it self is interesting and gives me a fate/stay feeling with the heroes bringing in their weapons to beat another hero. (Just because i don't like the anime asthetic doesn't mean I don't watch anime).
I just noticed: Weebs of the Shore. That is hilarious. I am sticking with Flesh and Blood and really excited about the PVE mode that was announced. I have a pre-order of a few Disney Lorcana products out of pure curiosity and I might explore Star Wars Unlimited which seems very interesting with the leader, air, ground and base type of gameplay.
I'm saturated with card games so with how "appalling" this looks I won't try to dig deeper at this point. But what interests me more isn't the assessment of what's good in a new contender but what people want. Did people know they want FAB? It was a very rocky way for that game to grow how it did but what prerequisites are needed for other games to do similarly well? Is it just a bunch of weebs pulling the game through because they like being flooded with waifus? Is it OP? Is it a unique card game experience? Is it weekly events in casual atmosphere? What does this game enable?
This is the issue with new TCG releases....goddamned scalpers & investors inflate these Games to where they're not reasonably affordable for new players to try by using price anchoring and manipulated scarcity tactics.
Our LGS is having a terrible time actually selling this game. Last time I saw the manager he said only one pack sold all week. Surprising to me to hear the game has a big demand other places.
We literally can't keep this game in stock in Florida, and many stores are hoping another wave comes soon. Had a restock from a minor distro a few weeks ago, and it's all gone.
Doesn't surprise me at all. The popularity of card games, miniatures games etc really can vary wildly from location to location, especially with these smaller/newer games that don't have huge marketing reach. You usually find in the areas where its seeing growth, there is a core group of passionate people introducing the game to others and actively putting in a lot of work to build a community around the game.
Yeah, it’s pretty remarkable how variable popularity of games can be in different regions. It’s absolutely popping off here in the DFW area. You can find locals firing off 5-6 days weekly here, and the last two locals I went to at the main store where I play (LGS Richardson) had more than 20 players each.
Anime aesthetic is definitely big detractor. Doubling down on it with mentioning "anime" and calling yourself "Weebs ... " makes it only worse. They could call it something like "Anime+", evolve anime style somehow (do anime without getting anime association when looking at it), also do more retro-anime vibe, this would be 100 times better.
I think it mixture of Force of will, Wixoss and Precious memories The base of the game is FOW but mana and combat system have change. Lrig and Arts from WX "Discard" to pay cost From PM I played those game, FOW is a good game but new company just fuck the game up. WX and PM are too comboly and not fair, that are the common mistake of Japanese TCG. Japanese TCG have waifu artwork with shit gameplay. Game design of Japanese TCG is make combo and break down into pieces(cards), or make a OP card to buff an exciting deck. Player is force to build their deck in designer's direction or there are too many "must play" card in the environment. Westen TCG have great gameplay but shit artwork(Sorry, they not my tea.) I hate MTG's artwork thought I play that game for years. I hope that will be a westen TCG with Anime style, FOW is a fail, I hope GA will success. If this game available in HongKong, I may give this game a shot.
It’s just another mtg clone (like Lorcana) with its own little side gimmicks to set it apart. That’s what these companies mean when they say “western mechanics”: it’s just following the MTG formula.
Ive played a handful of tcgs sinxe the whole fiasco with WOTC and MTG, but ive noticed alot of games that are coming out really seem to play the same as mtg with a little change here and there: kryptik, grand archive, etc... however, i think what has sold me the most of interaction and uniqueness, is FaB. Literally havent seen a game as interactive as FaB, and i come from a cEDH background in mtg with expensive cards and whatnot. Grand archive could be fun but the anime artwork could be a nuisance for some players, but the core gameplay itself really resonates a mtg copy. Kind if a bummer, and im hoping as the game goes on, im proven wrong but thats my 2 cents.
It feels like it takes about as much from FaB as it does from MtG to be honest. I think it's also worth noting disgruntled magic players, especially those who are unhappy with Commander's dominance are eager to find something that gives a similar feel to 1v1 Magic with a more affordable metagame to buy into. For me FaB does a lot of things right but the artstyle is very unappealing to me and the gameplay feels a bit too deliberate and restrictive in terms of deckbuilding for my liking. For me at least, GA improves on most of the things I dislike about FaB while still capturing enough of the dynamic, reactive aspects of magic to appeal to me so I really hope it succeeds.
The fact this game is anime will stop a ton of people from playing. My locals rotates between 2 stores and nobody at either store is picking this game up. Or rather nobody that shows up consistently to play is. The game will probably end up being alive just like force of will is alive but i cant imagine it makes any sort of dent

LMAO "Weebs of the Shore...." Wizards of the coast xD

The game is like if Magic and Flesh and Blood had a kid.

I’m playing Flesh & Blood now but I’m hearing a lot of good things about Star Wars Unlimited and I think that will be my main game when it releases

I personally like the anime art style and picked up the starter decks, I need to sit down and play it and see how I feel about the mechanics
My starter decks arrive today - so hyped! Next: I want a booster box like you :)

Card acquisition is kind of tough at the moment, but it’s really solid.
Agreed, I'm having a hard time finding more than this one box I bought here locally

What do u think of it’s cur/csr value? Does it justified? I think play wise it’s really good. Just 50/50 on collectors scene
The back of GA cards certainly has one of the nicest design out there
Build divide I say is a little better in my opinion
It is a fantastic game. We're having a blast.
Its been 2 months since this video, would you say your interest in Grand Archive is increasing or decreasing?
Whats the playmat art?
I refuse to believe the commentary is post recording. Instead i believe DMA has 4 arms.

Shhhh don't give away my secrets!
Yes, Grand Archive!
Can't get enough of playing this game. It's is really popping off in my area glad to hear its on your radar too
The games a lot of fun and for me feels like a mix between fab and magic hope you enjoy
Thank you for the video really appreciate it. Wish I had more time and money to look into more games

Would love to hear your thoughts about the new game Kryptik. Kinda like a cross between Fab, Mtg, and Pokemon
Kaijudo

Thanks. Interesting video!
If you have squirrels and dryads things are good.
Great overview! I love VanquishersTCG
Great game and I am glad I backed it but it has a supply issue at the moment. Investors are loving it so far, just need something for the players too
This is the issue with new TCG releases....goddamned scalpers & investors inflate these Games to where they're not reasonably affordable for new players to try by using price anchoring and manipulated scarcity tactics.
@antearesgamer yea I feel like that's gonna be an issue until they grow enough to produce enough product and not do limited print runs.
Our LGS is having a terrible time actually selling this game. Last time I saw the manager he said only one pack sold all week. Surprising to me to hear the game has a big demand other places.
I believe that. TCGs definitely have the capacity to be regionally popular. Whereabouts are you located? Wanna sell me some packs? 😅
We literally can't keep this game in stock in Florida, and many stores are hoping another wave comes soon. Had a restock from a minor distro a few weeks ago, and it's all gone.

By chance does your store ship? Wouldn't mind buying product
Cannot wait until they come to Vietnam market they all look interesting so far

At least this isn't screen shot artwork like Weiss and Union Arena.
I'll wait, because I'm undecided in what TCG to play, and wallet is not big enough for all.
Love this game!
I think it mixture of
Force of will, Wixoss and Precious memories

Hopefully it doesn't become a cash grab game for landlords like Magic lol
Anime art and waifu's is a no-go for me.

Sigh😩 is the anime art style such a taboo topic for people 🤔
A closed mind gathers nothing

Or you could play Shadowverse lol
Nah quit lying boi 😂😂
art style is all wrong for me, it's just too cringe imo.
Dead tcg
Lmao found you🤣 this guys everywhere
