    1 - Bà muối đi đâu?
    2 - Anh làm nghề gì?
    3 - Con tên gì?
    Also, I think you forgot about bác. I think an adult would call someone around their own parents' age - bác.

      Hello everybody. These are politeness rules, even if it's complicated, we have no choice.

    Can you do a video on how to address groups? For example, a business meeting in which you are addressing a group of people and they might be mixed gender and / or ages?

    What situation would be appropriate to use "tao/may"

    • @LearnVietnameseWithSVFF
      @LearnVietnameseWithSVFF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      When you and your friend are close friends or when you two are in a fight

    • @khangnguyensongnhat6254

      Only use it with your close friends. Older siblings can also use "tao/may" when they talk to their younger siblings but not vice versa. "Tao/may" is considered as the rudest form of addressing so avoid using it against someone you barely know and older than you.

    So there's no general usage of Mr., Mrs., Ms., Miss, sir or ma'am? Would you ever address a younger person as young man or young lady?
    What do you do if you need to shout "Hey you" to a stranger?
    For example: "Hey you, look out for that loose business sign right above your head! Hey You!!! Do we just take a guess like you said?

      Southerner don't use "cháu" when addressing, they are always replaced with "con" instead.

    • @LearnVietnameseWithSVFF

      Hello Richard,
      Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! It's great that you are taking the initiative to learn Vietnamese to better communicate with your girlfriend.
      Here are some basic Vietnamese phrases that you can use to greet her:
      - "Chào" (pronounced "chow"): Hello
      - "Xin chào" (pronounced "sin chow"): Hello (more formal)
      - "Chào buổi sáng" (pronounced "chow boy song"): Good morning
      I hope this helps!
      Best regards,

    How do you address boyfriend or girlfriend's parents? Is it Bác Gái Bác Trai?

    • @LearnVietnameseWithSVFF
      @LearnVietnameseWithSVFF  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you talk to them, just call them Bác is fine, or bác trai, bác gái. Or cô chú if they are younger than your parents
