Usually, that needle is set for break-in, right from the factory, if it's out of the box new. Count the OEM turns of the needle CAREFULLY, before playing with any settings otherwise. It might be really out of whack as well, if someone fiddled with it during it's wait. It is best, if you can, to carefully tear that New in the Box motor completely down before running break-in, to check it, clean it, and re-lube it. You might find some bimetallic corrosion on pieces, from it sitting from 1961 or ??. You might find some shrunk or torn gaskets, or brittle o-rings. Especially if it came from a high humidity area. Byers Beware!!. Save the Cox Micromotors!!, because I love them. Nothing better sounding. Just picked up a NIB .010 and a .020, with enough packaged spares to build 2 more. The .020 will get the Gilbreath Purple 1/2A Racing Prop and 33% with Klotz BeNOL. If you want them to really sing,,mix up some 70% Methanol blend, with 20% oil, 10% Nitro. A short engine life and interesting to start up,,but they sing like you have never heard, once on the needle. Watch your fingers, they are very hot when they finish the tank.
