External antenna, definitely gives you an extended and stronger wifi connection. They are both very good boxes and hard to choose between them. To help you decide, choose which home screen you like better and choose than box. I personally choose the Mecool based on build quality and wifi strength and also i actually like the Mecool homescreen.

With these new boxes with built in storage of 16gb or more...there doesnt seem to be a a way to set up kodi to directly download to an external hard drive? At least I cant figure it out. Im fairly competent with the boxes..however..this is one mystery I cant solve. I have a 2 tb external drive that I would like to download directly too from within Kodi. I cant seem to send the files anywhere othetmr than the emulated/ external storage...which of course we all know is not external storage...its the internal box storage. Can you show me how to set up to download directly to an external hard drive? Or is there no way to do it? Are we stuck with copy/paste from the box storage to the external drive?

I was debating between H96 pro+ and Beelink Ultimate, seeing the almost identical specs (did not realize the DDR4 vs DDR3 though). The fact that there are so many clones of the Alfawise H96 Pro+ vs. no clones for the Beelink pushed me over the edge towards beelink. I can't get any practical guarantee (they would need me shipping stuff back to China for any issue) to get a Alfawise brand, and the clones just add too much variation in terms of the performance (they may have same specs on paper, but not exactly the same hardware chips). Just my two cents.

Basically most of these boxes are copy-cats with no originality whatsoever... I even think most of them just use the same logic board and just re-brand. So, it boils down to whoever implement their unit with better CPU/GPU, more RAM/ Storage, and less quirky interface. Though China do have good leading tech companies, they do have a large wasteland of trash.
I noticed it has an optical port. will the sound not go through the tvs optical port if the optical speakers cable are connected to tv instead of this box?

The remote does not have an air mouse feature, but you do have a mouse button which will bring a cursor on the screen and you can use the navigational buttons to move the cursor, quite a slow process, i prefer attaching an external wireless mouse or use a wireless mini keyboard with a trackpad.

From your previous reply, all of the generic tv box wont be able to stream netflix on hd. Is kodi or whatever free streaming app stream in hd or even 4k? How about youtube, especially with H96Pro plus? because you didnt mention it here and with X92 you said max 1080p. Last question, is there an external antenna I can add for tv box without antenna? Yes for Netflix HD you need a licensed box like Nivida Shield, Xiaomi Mi box. On Kodi you can stream upto 4K with any TV Box. TH-cam is usually 1080p max and the licensed boxes can do 4K. The external antenna cannot be added later, it must come with the box. So to sum it up : X92 - TH-cam 1080p - Netflix 480p H96 Pro + - TH-cam 1080p - Netflix 480p

I always turn off the TV box. as the box stays connected and notifications keeps getting pushed on standby mode. So powering off or pulling the plug is the best option.

Thats a tough choice, cause they are both amazing high end Android TV Boxes. The H96 actually has a higher overall benchmark score compared to the Mecool and therefore, the H96 has a better overall performance. However, the Mecool has a stronger wifi thanks to the external wifi antenna. Meecol is 16gb and H96 is 32GB. Its a really tough choice, they both also have great homescreens. I think it will come down to which one looks better. The H96 actually reminds me of PS4 (1stGen version) Hope that helps you decide. Whichever one you choose you will not be disappointed, i can tell you that. I personally like the H96.

Jail breaking is something that "crooks" say to sell their product. All it means is that the box has add ons installed. Which anyone can do with a very little experience.Dont fall for that jail breaking bull!
souled.out.soapers Jailbreaking is for apple products. With Android, it is called "rooting", but you don't need to root, as all you are doing is installing apps etc.

Those are very advanced machines which easily leave products like these in dust. Nvidia Shield TV 2017 has Antutu score almost 3.5 times of this box. No comparison as far as specs are concerned.

Same in the UK mate, there is a lack of 4K content in Netflix, its picking up but will take time.

Yes mine works fine, something you can try. Open settings then wifi then at the top left there should be 3 dots (options) click it and try WPS.

Hi, just had one of these show a Blue Flashing Light and not connecting. Had a search around and seen its actually fairly common on this box. Have you come across this at all, is there a fix or just return and buy something else?

How's the WiFi reception of this box? I have one amazon firestick and it'll function even on a 1 mbps broadband connection smoothly.. Can I expect same performance with this box also?
I have used this box whilst travelling and in hotel's slow wifi works great on this box. Always nice stable wifi connection.

Yes, as soon as you connect the power it will start booting to desktop. There is no physical power button on the box.

I always turn off the TV box. as the box stays connected and notifications keeps getting pushed on standby mode. So powering off or pulling the plug is the best option.

Thx for review. I bought it 2 days ago. I want to remove netflix shortcut on main screen. I don`t use it. I want to add Kodi or another one. How can i do it? I tried to uninstall it. The program removed but the shortcut is not.
The larger shortcuts cannot be removed from any android TV box including this one, you can however make new shortcuts at the bottom, smaller ones. You also have the option of completely change your home screen see this vid: th-cam.com/video/fCPB-Ty15JU/w-d-xo.html

Both powerful boxes, I think the Tanix is more robust. But they both give the same performance.

Which box would you say is better, this box or the mecool bb2 pro??
Thats a tough choice, cause they are both amazing high end Android TV Boxes. The H96 actually has a higher overall benchmark score compared to the Mecool and therefore, the H96 has a better overall performance.
However, the Mecool has a stronger wifi thanks to the external wifi antenna. Meecol is 16gb and H96 is 32GB.
Its a really tough choice, they both also have great homescreens.
I think it will come down to which one looks better. The H96 actually reminds me of PS4 (1stGen version)
Hope that helps you decide. Whichever one you choose you will not be disappointed, i can tell you that. I personally like the H96.

Kodi comes with it, but you do not get any build with this. You have to do that yourself.
Jail breaking is something that "crooks" say to sell their product. All it means is that the box has add ons installed. Which anyone can do with a very little experience.Dont fall for that jail breaking bull!
souled.out.soapers Jailbreaking is for apple products. With Android, it is called "rooting", but you don't need to root, as all you are doing is installing apps etc.

Well, I guess the Nvidia ‑ Shield TV 16 GB Streaming Media Player or Nvidia - Shield TV Pro 500GB Streaming Media Player might be a little to much to ask for --very high price point but great review!
Those are very advanced machines which easily leave products like these in dust. Nvidia Shield TV 2017 has Antutu score almost 3.5 times of this box. No comparison as far as specs are concerned.

The H96 Max is 2nd to the Shield. I am current using the H96 max everyday and I really like it.

I've been reading that the Bluetooth doesn't work on these boxes, have you had it work?
Works fine, tested bluetooth headset, speakers and game controller. Works great no probs at all.

You cannot edit the large shortcuts on the home screen.
