Maternal death is really too high in Jamaica. There is a responsibility to be taken by both country and people. Many don't understand that giving birth is not just carrying a child and pushing them out. Each person may have associated risks that they need to identify if possible, before having chindren. Some you will never know until pregnancy sadly. There are also somethings that once it occurs, it is hard to reverse or rectify.
These things happen overseas as well children needs to be taught about family planning and more such as things surrounding child birth etc very sad topic:discussion for very one..
I had my son at spanish town hospital 33 yrs ago but I saw some horrific things hence I didn't go back there to have my daughter. There was a 15 year old mother that I knew and she was in labor for over two weeks and they nurses kept telling her yes you should be washing your uniform to go to school but instead you calling nurse. I have had bad experiences with Spanish Town hospital. However maternal death is high in the USA but more so among black women so I don't know what to say. England had to step in and hence Spanish Town got the new maternal ward . I really thought they were doing better. I went to the cayman island a smaller country and baby and mothers are high priority. Sad indeed
Sad sad situation. As someone who occasionally has to visit govt run hospital I can say some doctors and nurses are great , they are helpful and listens .However some are difficult and have a don’t care attitude . Don’t know if it’s low wages, poor working conditions , overwork or just plain callousness . Another issue is I see with many is “haughtiness” as if being a doctor makes them “ above or better than” the patients . They are brighter and have “status” .Aside from everyone being equal and should be treated with dignity they don’t realize that often the same patient they treat with disdain is equally qualified , might actually be more smart and intelligent but for many reasons did not want to be in the medical field

Supervisors and managers are to be held accountable and also evaluated in these medical facilities occasionally to make certain the professional standards that are required intellectually and physically are in consistent working order. But nowadays, so many people are going into these fields only for the money, not for the humanitarian aspect of caring for others.
Was there ever a time when things like these are not happening in Jamaica health care system? Complications, complications, they are already planning their defence. When you don't have certain name, money, etc that is how your are treated in Jamaica, health care system and every other systems and nothing comes out of it.
To be poor in Jamaica, you are treated like garbage by those who are supposed to help you. And Targeted and killed by those who you are related to, and those who live in your community.
Jamaica health-care system overall is sickening... the nurses and doctors especially nurses dpnt display care in the way most of them deal with people. Secretively investigate it and see....we treat each other poor
I had my first pregnancy at 15 , gave birth at St Ann's Bay Hospital in the year 2000 ,and l wasnt treated any different than the others . lm so sorry this girl lost her life . what a shame , but we must not be quick to blame the system. I find it hard to believe my nurses and doctors here in jamaica would willfully let that girl die .
I hope this mother get some kind of justice for her daughter death , and I know that they are going to justify it in the best way they can , nothing always don't come out of situations like this
They were likely unable to control the bleeding. Additionally, it was mentioned that she had a rare blood type, possibly O negative. Postpartum hemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal death. I wonder if she received regular antenatal care, as this could have identified her as a high-risk case. Her mode of delivery should have been discussed and agreed upon before she went into labor. She appears to be petite, and I believe a natural birth may not have been suitable for her. High-risk cases should be monitored in hospitals rather than clinics, at least during the last trimester of pregnancy.
Spanish Town hospital is no good who is charged need to do better the child life could have been saved even no beds or wheel chair health care services are not good in Jamaica we should not leave here to get help we born in Jamaica it's a shame

I had my second child at a private hospital thank God that’s the reason why I would not move back to Jamaica because of medical system there
Was there ever a time when things like these are not happening in Jamaica health care system?
I hope this mother get some kind of justice for her daughter death , and I know that they are going to justify it in the best way they can , nothing always don't come out of situations like this
My little sister died there last year with no explanation she went to have a baby and didn’t make it home
Condolences
@ thank you 🙏
My condolences for your loss. Not easy to lose a family member especially one so close presumably
This was neglect. So sad
😢😢😢😢
They were doing the operation. I hope they tell us what really happened.
Poor mother.
@LM-xn2ki
Well documented. Thank you
The minister of health has failed, has been for a long time. The medical staff isn’t appreciated so they’re disgruntled.
😮😢🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Spanish Town hospital is no good who is charged need to do better the child life could have been saved even no beds or wheel chair health care services are not good in Jamaica we should not leave here to get help we born in Jamaica it's a shame
Always an investigation after a life is lost.
These politicians always never have all the informations and cannot answer questions but yet come talking. Lie, lie, lie.
Tracking the situation ! If the doctors was properly paid and they weren’t on strike shat young lady would still be alive.
