Your always a joy to watch Joe - I saw 3 guys swimming in a snow storm off the coast of Harwich Wednesday - that tube in the gauge is called a Bourdon Tube apparently : )
Hi Joe, greetings from Australia, really enjoy watching your videos and learning so much! We have a beautiful old Marine 6LW in a timber cruiser. On the subject of oil keen to understand more about how oil pressure should build on a cold start. On our 6LW oil pressure is fine once running but on start-up it can take15-20 second for oil pressure to build (Gardner Guage located on engine). This seemingly dry start scares me every time, so hope you can provide some insights.
The oil pressure gauge sits next to an electrical sender just under the oil filter housing, the gauge and electrical sender are supplied by a short 14 inch long tube which is teed into what I think is an oil return pipe next to the injector pump.
Hi joe hope all is well heres daft question is the 6lx and 6lxb oil pressure roughly the same ? ive changed my 6lx engine with suitable oil and first 12 hours runs at roughly 34psi after that it drops to 30-32 psi is this nornmal but no lower than 30psi .cheers

Difficult shooting conditions notwithstanding, a very informative video, as usual.
Happy new year Joe from down under West Australia

Luke, please, is the gauge located directly ON THE ENGINE, or just the sender?

Yes, they are the same. I don't think you have much to worry about :-(
Hello Joe. Just a question for you. What grade of oil do you run in a Gardner? Thanks.
Classic SAE30, nothing fancy.
Thanks Joe it is great to learn some more. what would be the best rpm on a 6lw at idle in a boat
420. I intend to do an rpm video soon. We now have snow here!
