It's been like 10 years since i discovered her music.A lot happened with me between this period. Highschool, heartbreaks, intoxication, college, work. Life has become complicated and confusing. But the feeling I derive from listening to her songs, is, still the same.
Imogen heap is not only an artist but she is a gift to the human soul I swear she taps into something I honestly can't describe her music is melancholic uplifting
Imogen, im a heavy metal and hard rock fan...but the first time i´ve heard your music, i fell in love.. so deep and peacefull.. it´s like a trip..now im a big fan of yours! greetings from Argentina!
requiemmariano same here for me man....but open the door to good music buddy. Don’t let metal and rock be the only thing ya listen to. There are some amazing artists out there
@@gabrielantos4144 agreed. ive been mostly listening to R&b/soul, Rap, and metal. Ive been trying to figure out what makes me love those genres and for the most part a lot of it is based on stuff like this.
Imogen's usical imagery just takes me to places I'd never thought I'd go - I have so much to do right now but can't move because I don't want to miss anything!
There are certain songs in life that just connect and become part of you. Ones that you would play for someone if they asked “tell me about yourself”. This is one of those, along with other greats like Thickets by Patrick Wolf, and Glorious by MUSE. This song has been part of me ever since it was released. And the cinematography really seals it for me (as an artist and backpacker, mountaineer).
I asked my brother to buy me Ellipse for my birthday... that must have been 2010. I listened to all the songs on that. They became the soundtrack of my early love and loss... Its a dark, overcast day today and for some reason I absolutely had to listen to this song. I pulled it up on TH-cam and put on my headphones... Its just as beautiful as I remember it. It takes me back to the nights I would stay back at work and take the metro home. Its cold and empty. Funny how music brings back memories and emotions. Thank you, Immi for all the music you gave us. Love from Dubai.
Found Imogen Heap via Pandora. Heard Let Go from the Frou Frou album, and been a fan ever since. She easily goes in my top 5 greatest artists of alive today.

“I just can’t find the strength to HAUL you up and keep you taut”. The lyrical metaphor is about “canvas”, not “a canvas”, as in a sail, that you “pull up” or “haul up” to keep it taut. The video is gorgeous but the imagery misdirects. The lyrics are about sail canvas, not a paint canvas.
Fun fact: Canvas is latin for cannabis, all canvas and most things made before the 1930's were made out of hemp. Not that it has anything to do with Imogen besides the song title but i don't think many people know what canvas actually is. So in a way, pot not only creatively inspired a lot of art throughout history, but also made the best material to put the art on.
I don't know what's more beautiful, her vocals or the imagery in this video. Such a great combination. It literally takes my breath away every time I watch it.
I pray that my kids and the younger generations will be exposed to the beauty that is imogen heap . There is no way you can recreate this or try and copy she her self is in a league of her own.and I say thank you imogen for this lovely work of art
I love the way this one video and song go hand in hand in that they build slowly upward, rising to a swell through the veil of mystery; the whole time you're just along for the ride, wondering where exactly it's going to take you. It's beautiful!
I was obsessed with her music as a kid in the late 90s early 200s then when I heard lil b sampling her music I got hype and start listening daily again lol
There are moments in your life that you'll never forget. Your concert in NYC in December of 09 being one of mine. To see your reaction when you found out you were nominated for two Grammys, phenomenal. Thank you for sharing your gift!
Absolutely exhilarating, a fresh breath of air. I knew Canvas would be amazing, and it even exceeded my expectations. The video is a work of art in itself. Thank you so much for sharing, Immi. ♥
So beautiful! I can't wait for the cd to come in my mailbox. I loved watching all of the v'blogs. You put so much into your music. No wonder I put all of your music on a continuous loop. It never gets old.
Art brought me to TH-cam. Music keeps bringing me back. This video is both and more. The imagery is starkly beautiful, the lyrics are poetry, and the songwriting and performance are inspired. Imogen is my Muse. I hope I will live up to her inspiration after too long away from my own art.
Lovely music... this is a song you can have going whilst curled up on the fire or reading a book, or generally going on in the background. Gorgeous, I love the piano intro especially
People mainly expect from the artist based on previous work. Try to follow were the artist goes, and you may be just right there with them enjoying the moment... Next year you will find yourself somewhere else. That's what evolving artist does. Imogen Heap is just that artist. Wonderful trip!
Shit, that long? This song will always remain one of my favourite pieces of music ever, up there with Coldplay - Strawberry Swing and Kishi Bashi - Once Upon a Lucid Dream.
I remember listening to this song while I sat outside in single-digit temps and heavy lake-effect snow ( I lived in Buford,GA a few hundred feet from Lake Lanier) and I was going through a *bad*/abusive relationship at the time. The whole experience of meditating and this song's depth (in music and lyrics) and how much it touched my soul brought me back to my center-place and helped me grip on to a normal reality again, away from him ; I might even say it was a damn-near religious experience. I suppose I'm back here to relive that experience and find my center again...I definitely need it more than ever now.
Omg these decade+ ago Imogen Heap songs are so incredible. They would dominate so many events now. Perform with Aurora or some burning man or something. The world needs to hear these amazing songs.
Again an exceptionally beautiful song, beautifully rendered. You transcend the labels of singer, songwriter, producer...you are an artist in every way, and your art is profoundly beautiful. Your music renews the soul, and it makes the world a better place.
In February when the snow came down in the UK - I went for a walk in the woods near my house listening to this whilst it was still coming down. Don't think I've ever enjoyed a walk more in my life. :-)
you are absolutely beyond brilliant. I am sure at least a million people have told you that. This sound, this uniqueness that is you, it's so...Imogen Heap. goodness this song is so good. haunting, kinda eerie, absolutely beautiful.
It does. She is so talented with this kind of music. Imogen is one of my idols. Hide and seek, canvas, and first train home are thee best songs she's ever produced, all her songs are good but those 3 seem to always play in my mind daily :)
Imogen I love your new album and this video is great. Reminded me of how great the first Narnia film was, how much I loved your voice on the soundtrack, and how much music needs you. Please tour near Newcastle soon!
Loving this song..... Ever since I listened to her song headlock on another artist's Pandora that i played, I fell in love with Imogen's music to this day!

Same
For the first time in 15 years, I'm seriously considering buying a CD.
im right with you there
She's one of the best artists around.
go vinyl
CDs are still there when the internet goes down and they're so much better than vinyl, except if you're rich and want to display your wealth
Wow Vinyl forever : CD ok if one buys from authentic source who pays the artist Vinyl can not be replicated easily
this song makes me peaceful and I especially like listening to it when its raining or snowing :)
or when having orange spice tea with cayenne pepper in it
I can not even believe how good this song is.
I listen to this when I'm overthinking, it's one of my go to calm down songs.

Back again to binge on Immy. I hadn’t revisited this song for some time, but it gets stuck in my head randomly a lot. She’s an incredible artist.

Best part of my life living in
Winters of snow and love.

Who are the other 4?
My faves beside her are Sigur Ros, Efterklang, Moby, and M83.
Leonard Dixon .
I recommend Olafur Arnalds and Arnor Dan if you guys like Sigur Ros.
God, such a haunting and pretty track.
AFTER MONTHS OF SEARCHING I'VE FINALLY FOUND IT. I THANK MY DANCE TEACHER DEARLY.
Just Classic Imogen. Thank you for the years of inspiring, genuine and artistic gift.
Such a solid mixing of the music's mood with the dramatic landscape photography.
