    SWEET LOCOMOTIVES! ❤️
    I have the Gilbert HO switcher, still searching for its bigger brother in S scale, very hard to find.
    Great comparison, great video, keep them coming! 🚂

      Believe it or not, they also made an 060 Prewar O scale in 1938! Looks different also rare.

    Nicely done video, very creative. Both locomotives run so smooth. You and Mark Wick's latest videos have given me some ideas.

      Another secret reason I tend to run the HO too fast, the 060 has half a traction tire, so at low speeds it tends to bounce, but if I run it fast enough, it's fairly smooth.😃 And it smokes better at high speed.

      @@MygrandpasTrain Have you tried that product BullFrog snot on wheel with half a traction tire? I am sure with your expertise you get it to smoke profusely. 😉
      On another note I just opened up and discovered that my Atlas/Kato (yellow box) GN GP7 and found it has an Atlas #341 dual mode decoder. It appears to be jumpered for DC Analog operation ☺. I need to find a manual (haven't found one on the internet yet) so I know what I am dealing with then look for parts to replace it so it has the same parts as my other CBQ GP7.

      @@-MAILMAN I may just try ordering the Bullfrog snot. Although portlines does have HO traction tires for that engine

      @@MygrandpasTrain I haven't used that product, but I believe FlyerJunction has and does. He could better describe it and how well it works.

    Very cool, very original. Something that I might have done as a much younger person if I had all of the stuff. You put out some really interesting videos. Thank you for your answer to my comment about a 3 rail 2 rail tug of war. VERY kind of you.

      someday i may do this video with 3 scales of Gilbert/ American flyer if I can find the O scale 0-6-0 they made prewar! But that involves finding and restoring an engine and then building a track for it!

      Good luck with that! Years ago I had a friend who collected trains and worked at Gilbert. He had a very rare prewar 0-8-0 switcher. It had to be dunked in epoxy due to zinc pest. I have a 1940 or 41 catalog. I'll check if it's listed. I just looked, only the 0-8-0 is listed, #574, and #575 with the bell.

    You maybe surprised that 'HO' locomotive was made by Mantua/Tyco to AC Gilbert specifications, Also, AC Gilbert contracted with Varney as well.

    Very nice. It's a shame they didn't make the S gauge shell diecast. Still, a very attractive locomotive in both scales.

      I do like the diecast more than the plastic for sure.

    Wow I did not know that Gilbert American flyer made HO Trains that looks very rare

    • @MygrandpasTrain
      @MygrandpasTrain  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Gilbert HO is less common than the larger S gauge; the HO Hudson and 060 are not particularly rare, but some of the other HO pieces Gilbert made are very uncommon
