- Do you know anything about the history of this particular Roundhouse Argyll called Parson's Pleasure? Bid price at Vectis Auction 480 + 120 sale room premium = £600. Post 14. Note that auction rooms will also charge the seller a fee so seller gets about half what you pay (or if you sell you get half what the bidder pays for it).
Hi John that looks like a very nice loco for the money will look forward to it first trip around the garden cheers Kevin
Thanks Kevin, I am almost setting a date in my diary.
That is some great buy John , I have seen some of these on youtube and they are cracking little Trains for garden railways ..look forward to seeing this running on your Garden Railway ..Summerland Steam run some of these ...Dave
Feeling pleased so far Dave, Santa came early! Always a risk using auction rather than a recognised supplier. Its a great morning in Bradford today - but I'm busy.
£25 sales cost and then £14 postage. WOW!!
Give me Ebay every time especially as Pay Pal has excellent protection for buyers.
It is a stunning looking loco though.
No, it was £120 sales premium, that is 25% or a quarter of bid price! Still they are expensive items and would probably go for ore on ebay - who knows. Total £614
Just been catching up on your videos, great to see some 16mm Live steam! The Argyll was originally released by Roundhouse in 1993 before been discontinued in 2004. They later released it as the Atlantic in 2009, which has also since be discontinued. Many people preferred the earlier version (like yours) as it has spokes wheels and a nicely rivet detailed smoke box. It could therefore have some age to it! Second hand versions seem to be selling for around £1300! So you paid a decent price even with bits that require a bit of work?
Thank you for the information Matthew. That is very helpful. I would rather pay less for something that needs a little tidying. I then get to feel more of a connection with it. It is growing on me lots.
Gorgeous.
Agreed!
I wan't sure when I bid - but liking it more each day.
Nice! Wil look gud in the garden
Yes matt, no need to worry about the weather of scenery - it will be good to get it steamed.
Definately!!!
WOW WHAT ??????? £39 pound,,,, what a bargain ,,, it looks a cracking model ,,,, OK a few cosmetic minor dings ,,, shame about the dome/safety valve been bent over thats a bit of a concern but that is amazing,,,, its a lovely loco,,, what next ???? presumably an hydraulic test ,,,, asap ,,,,
Bid 480, sales premium 120 postage 14 but still reasonable at £614 if it all works!
John Mellor Sorry John where did I get the 39 from,,,, but still a cracking loco,,,I have my fingers crossed for the hydraulic test,,,, can not wait to see her first steaming,,,
***** Possibly in a fortnight, i am a bit busy till then.
Many conditions are not good.
Do you mean auction conditions or the video conditions which were not good.
Actually it runs OK but it was a real gamble and many unsatisfactory points. Always best to buy from a reliable modeller and to see the item first.
