I shouldn’t laugh because a $300 fine is a lot of money, but that beef jerky story is just so funny and the fact that you including paying the fine at the convenience store in the video is just incredible. Can’t wait for the next vlog, these have all been fantastic.

I thought it was funny how the breakfast shop auntie's eyes kept darting to Toast and she slowed down alot replying to yvonne,like how you talk to small children. The code switch to english for cheese XD
It's not a code switch, it's literally how "cheese" is pronounced in mandarin (qi si) lmaoo
@@RaisinBug no but she actually said cheese in the english way (obviously with an accent), she 100% did not say the mandarin/taiwanese word for cheese and i assume it's to make it easier to understand for them. it happens here in hong kong as well, known as chinglish.
@penguin-tc1cx not sure why you're 100% convinced it's not the mando word for cheese. The mando word for cheese is 起司 (qi si), which literally sounds like "cheese." The lady in the video spoke slower and with more emphasis, and I think it had more to do with helping Yvonne understand her words in general and less to do with chinglish
@@RaisinBug yes the word is 起司 but if you listen to the “司” it does not sound like 司, it sounds more like chee”se” but w an accent and a bit of slurring into the 啊. if Taiwan has a different way of pronouncing 司 than standard mandarin then I apologise and take back what I said. I can definitely see why it sounds like 起司 though.
-after listening a few more times with headphones, I might actually be wrong bc it’s possible she also just slurred the 司 to 啊 but the fact that she said “sugar free” in English a sentence later makes me still think that she said “cheese.” guess my 100% was off haha my bad but you can see why I and others think she said cheese right?
I don’t know why I’m wasting this much time contemplating about cheese oops so I’ll just leave it at that, have a good rest of your day

honestly yvonne is my favorite vlogger, like I usually dont watch vlogger content but Yvonne presents it and "does it"(?) in such an entertaining manner. Like not only the editing but in great portion, her personality and hilarious demeanor.
I love it that since everyone vloged we can see different points of view from the same trip. Each one has it's own style and it's just so amazing.

Man, I get so much nostalgia watching these vlogs. Its been over a decade since I was went back to Taiwan but I still remember all the fun place I went to. If you guys plan to go back I would love to see you visit southern Taiwan. Taipei is great but I really like Tainan and Kaohsiung. If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, there is also Green Island and Kenting. Both of these places are ridiculously scenic.

Don’t worry, it happen to me too last June. I had two travel pack of beef jerky. I just ended up throwing them into the trash bin right after we got off the plane, before hitting customs.
I am also amazed how y’all held up to the humidity. I was like sweating buckets when I went.

I studied in Taiwan for 5 years, returning to my country in 2021. Watching this is just bring back all the memories. I miss Taiwan and I wanna go back soon and see my old classmates and friends. I am surprised my Mandarin isn't completely gone :D

Good tip at the start of the video. Some places are extremely strict about all food (including things like candy) so if you have it, tell them as you could be denied entry into the country. If I'm not mistaken I believe Australia and NZ are extremely strict about it.

Started off strong 😂 the highest can be up to 3k USD and 300 USD is actually the lowest.
A little background information, Taiwan tighten up the regulation after African Swine Flu in China has gotten worse back in Corona time. It was also around the time Taiwan just got the "swine-fever free" status, so they aren't about to get any to keep that status. Also Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice Bowl is so freaking good, highly recommend.
