It took like 3 songs for the crew to finally kick me off but I have a feeling if I did that with Slipknot Clown would have come over and checked me into the front row. I was lucky.
Man the amount of accessories on Joey's wrists insane. I feel constricted while drumming with even a hair tie around my wrist, no idea how Joey was okay with all that lol

Cuz I thought Sid was the one who did the background sound at the start of Spit It Out, but theres another show where Sid leaves the tables to be at the crowd and they all start the song without him Edit: I could be wrong but Sid appears to be at the far right of the turntable and is cut off just barely by the pan. So he still does the whooshing and "du-du-dun dun" sound effect, but looking at Craig's fingers shows that he does the drum sample
@@auratepes Sid definitely does the scratching, but Craig has to be the one doing the drums. I wonder if this changed by year or if this was a showtime decision, because it would obviously require some planning as to who was doing the drum sample so they were ready. Edit: this also explains how sometimes the sample would start randomly during 1999 and 2000 without the scratch.
I think usually Sid does it but when he's messing around Craig plays the sample, here maybe Sid pressed the button to play the sample and then leave the turntables, but in Monza 2000 he was into the crowd so definitely it wasn't him haha

Joey was using the 99-00 Pearl export series in Grindstone Sparkle, he also used 2-3 more finishes one being Silver Sparkle for his toms and kick drum he used a Pearl Export Steel snare finish was Mirror Chrome size was 14x5. It’s important to note he triggered his snare and kick drums and used a heavy sample for both. The rack and floor toms were not triggered but micd instead, for the toms he used to tune the batter heads to a medium tension with the bottom head’s medium lose (slightly loser then then top heads) although he used a sample for his snare sound he did tune both snare heads tight so that it would blend well with the sample. Kick drum tune medium loose on the batter and medium loose to loose on the resonant side. You can also try the signature pearl export kit joey released some time after. I actually grew up playing the same kit joey actually played and liked it a lot back then I never played his signature stuff though. Also its cool and okay to build a kit like joeys if you want but if you ever plan to develop your own sound its okay to build something similar too his but a bit different as well so that you can develop your own sound later if you want. If you go to a drum shop where the people selling the drums actually play drums they should be able to help you find whatever you want whether it be joeys exact kit or close or something different. My favorite kit jeoy ever played though was his kit for Iowa which he used for the Iowa tour and a few others starting in 2001-2004-05, his kit then was a custom orange county kit which you cannot get anymore unless you somehow got incredibly lucky you can match the sound but it will be more difficult too do. Oh I forgot he was using Sabian Cymbals in the above video and in the early 99-2000 years but switched too paiste for Iowa 2001-2007 both recording and for tour, both companies are awesome but his Paiste setup was my personal favorite but more expensive as well. Oh almost forgot in the above video he was using a Tama Iron Cobra double kick drum pedal.

He had quite the deep growls on until Vol 3 era and then his voice became about kind of a wheezing, breathy style yell whether by vocal strain or a different style. I always feel Shawn doesn’t get enough love for his backing vocals. About underrated when he really gets it going even more so sometimes than Chris who had some consistently good backing vocals.
