The blind test is a great idea. The only way to get a true indication of how your taste buds feels without the influence of peer group pressure and marketing. I'll have to try the same test when I'm over there in two months. The sacrifices I make! lol

Its a tribute to you both that you make this and all your other videos to highlight the WONDERFUL RICHNESS of culture and society in Espania and its not just a package holiday destination . From my two visits to Spain, I had my mind made up on which was the best beer, and I went for it everytime. Out of a frozen tap into a large frosty glass, there is nothing like it. Absolutely unbeatable. Glad to say that my best is also your best! 👍 Cheers Mick from Australia
Problem is you actually used the "worst" Alhambra which is the red one. Alhambra especial (the golden one) is the one that you get served in most bars, which is a pretty good one. After that one you have the top (and stronger) beer from them, Alhambra Reserva 1925.

My favourite is Estrella Galicia. I don't usually like beer with the only exception of EG. I am from Galicia myself so I'm proud that you recognise another great product from my region!
This video was so well organised to provide an unbiased result. I sat watching like it was the World Cup , rooting for the one beer I truly enjoy in Spain, and not because my mother is from Galicia. Yes! Estrella Galicia! You should have heard me when the goal was scored! YES!!
Well done, Mahou beer is one of the most underrated beers in the world, it's my first choice of beer when l,m in Bilbao or San Sebastian, it's a shame we don't have it lreland.....keep up the Good work guy's.
I am slightly disappointed you didn't feature "Mahou cinco estrellas" , which is far superior to Classica. Classica is still a great beer, however lacks the malty and bitter lager characteristics that cinco estrellas has plenty of. Great video as always!!!!!!🇪🇸🇬🇸🇪🇸🇬🇸

Agreed. I do miss 80 shilling at times and Theakstons Old Peculiar even more, but with the heat in Spain, my go to is Mahou. However my local brews German style beer on site as well, so I am spoiled.
Spain has some of the best regular beers in the world. San Miguel, Mahou, Estrella Galicia are all delicious. My favourite however is Keler from San Sebastián - delicious and light but watch out because it's 6%!
You should try Estrella Galicia 1906, won many awards as the best beer in Spain and it just crushes regular estrella but also gotta watch out, it's a 6.5% beer.

TheFailingGamers Maybe it’s because I’m from Northern Europe but I would say 6% it’s pretty much a normal beer. I would say that anything below 5.3% is low in alcohol and if it’s a lager below 5.3% it doesn’t taste anything basically.

My mother-in-law is from Sevilla so I was hurt with where Cruz Campo came in. But, I can't wait to try Estrella Galecia. We (my wife and I) are coming to Spain in March next year. We plan to take in Holy Week and la feria de Abril in Seville and then off to walk the Camino Frances. It would be great to catch up wit you guys sometime and share a nice glass of wine. I prefer Estrella just a bit overall.I think what you have found out by your tasting is how the flavour profiles change as the beer warms. Icy cold beer can "hide" lack of good quality (more expensive) ingredients. Most mass market beers are brewed to taste similar anyway. Once you get into the craft segment is where the flavours really shine amongst all the different brewers and recipes. Like store bought bread vs homemade.Fast food vs fine tapas.Great video and lots of fun to watch your progress through the testing.

Tambien, la Mahou hubiese llegado primera de seguro si hubiesen escogido la 5 estrellas y no la clasica. Creo que el orden entonces hubiera sido Mahou, Estrella Galicia, Alhambra y Moritz. Cambien el escogido y haganlo de nuevo a ver que pasa! Jajajaja

Interesting to know, u loved San Miguel🍻 It’s originally from the Philippines, then, San Miguel Corporation expanded operations in Spain (Barcelona, to be exact!). When me and my mates were in bars in Liverpool and Birningham, San Miguel beer was very popular and always sought after there too. 🍺🍺🍺
Typically sample local beer which I did during our trips to Madrid. Sampled over 10 beers, in all shades and really enjoyed Mahou (red can) Very smooth, goes down smooth and not heavy or bloating. Second place, 1906. A bit heavy but full tasting. However, after sampling some Spanish wine, I transitioned and haven't looked back. While I appreciate a good cold beer, the wine is outstanding. So, if you could do a video on local wine, Rioja and Tempranillos, that would be cool. Found some delicious wines at DIA for under 3 euros. (Senorio de los Llanos, Tempranillo crianza 2016) Ouch! can't be beat. Try it and let me know what you think...of course after the lock-down is over. Stay safe, Daniel

As a resident of Tenerife, I am very partial to a Dorada, though I found it very difficult to come by on the peninsula. I would have loved to know where it would have fitted in on your list. Estrella is also popular here, San MIguel probably number 3. I usually am happy with whichever is cheapest! Plus I always thought Amstel was Dutch, didn't know there was a Spanish one. Nice vid, thanks.
Next time you should eat something in between sips to absorb a bit of the alcohol. Nothing too strong (no cured cheese or strong olives). For wine tasting they usually offer bread sticks. Back in the 1980s I used to hate Voll-Damm, but I tried it a year or two ago and was quite surprised--pleasantly. A beer that was missing for many years and they finally started producing it again is El Águila. They took it out and brought in Amstel instead.
First, I'm half Spanish (mom from Barcelona). Lately, a bunch of Spanish beer have been coming into the stores here in NYC, so I naturally wanted to try them. All I can say is that I found all of them (most you tested here) to be average and lackluster. The only one I thought was "OK" was Alhambra 1925 Reserva, as, at least, it has some taste (OK malty lager flavor). The others were all thin, lacked flavor, and what flavor there was came from corn adjuncts, obviously. I'll stick with my Belgian and German beers and ales. Thanks for your video. Take care.
Loved this tasting. I know it can get difficult because tasting one beer to the next can change the taste of beer. For example, having a IPA before a lite beer will make the lite beer taste more watered down. You two should do more taste tests! Papas Bravas taste test per region would be awesome! Ciao!

As a Madrileño, Estrella Galicia ALL THE WAY! Mahou is a good party beer when there is nothing. Also a good beer when served in restaurants. Cruzcampo has its ups and downs. But if there is one brand Im crazy for is La Virgen, best beer ever.
Just finished the Camino Frances and was pleasantly surprised at the lovely flavor of Estrella Galicia. Also, the non alcohol beers in Spain are way better than the ones in the USA.
Love this types of videos. My one suggestion is to initially have your list and Yoli’s list for comparison... showing the viewer. And for the final have your original lists with the final list in the middle, again for comparison. Overall enjoyed it. Since we will be in Madrid next month, I hope to try the top 3. Thanks guys! 😊
I always liked Alhambra, and San Miguel I drank as a student 50 years ago for 5 pesetas, there was also a version from the Philippines. Estrella is great!

You should do it again but with bottles instead of cans, beer always tastes better out of a bottle. My fav is Estrella Galicia so I’m happy with your conclusion, but I do love a cold bottle of Alhambra Reserva when I can find it.
So funny! Yet you had a good 'empirical' approach. I must say, having tasted a lot of Spanish lager/beer, Yoli's list was pretty spot on!. However, I wondered as I watched whether your decisions would be influenced by the lower levels of beer in the glass as you tasted....that said, you were pretty spot on in terms of quality. I normally drink real ales in the UK, but enjoy a cana of beer (or 5) when in Spain; after this, I'll be checking out Estrella Galicia in future :-) You know me, I love you videos - a thumbs up and more, bravo. I'm Galician, I believe I know the business :). Estrella Galicia is not the best beer in Spain, but Estrella Galicia's 1906 (just 1906, not the red vintage or black coupage). Also, I personally dislike Mahou, but Mahou 5 estrellas is delicious, and it's the one I usually buy since it feels lighter and easier to drink, while keeping an amazing flavour. It's great for summertime. I'd put normal Estrella Galicia and Mahou 5 estrellas at about the same level. Estrella Damm, San Miguel, Cruzcampo are just too watery to my liking, although I do like Alhambra! Quite surprised to see it near the bottom. If you do like Estrella Galicia that much, you should visit the company's bar in A Coruña. The freshly made beer they serve there is just on a completely different level! Just warning you: the place is usually packed. That's a good sign ;) PS: those beers were flat at the end of the video, you guys gotta drink faster!

I normally don't drink a lot of beer but I used to crave Estrella Galicia daily when I was in La Coruna. So I'm glad it took first place!

Next time you should eat something in between sips to absorb a bit of the alcohol. Nothing too strong (no cured cheese or strong olives). For wine tasting they usually offer bread sticks. Back in the 1980s I used to hate Voll-Damm, but I tried it a year or two ago and was quite surprised--pleasantly. A beer that was missing for many years and they finally started producing it again is El Águila. They took it out and brought in Amstel instead.
First, I'm half Spanish (mom from Barcelona). Lately, a bunch of Spanish beer have been coming into the stores here in NYC, so I naturally wanted to try them. All I can say is that I found all of them (most you tested here) to be average and lackluster. The only one I thought was "OK" was Alhambra 1925 Reserva, as, at least, it has some taste (OK malty lager flavor). The others were all thin, lacked flavor, and what flavor there was came from corn adjuncts, obviously. I'll stick with my Belgian and German beers and ales. Thanks for your video. Take care.
I was in Spain for the first time last October. The Spanish beers i liked the most were Mahou, San Miguel, Estrella Damm, Estrella Galicia
Lived in Galicia for two years. Drank many, many Estrellas. It´s fantastic beer. Salud!
Loved this tasting. I know it can get difficult because tasting one beer to the next can change the taste of beer. For example, having a IPA before a lite beer will make the lite beer taste more watered down.
You two should do more taste tests! Papas Bravas taste test per region would be awesome! Ciao!

As a Madrileño, Estrella Galicia ALL THE WAY! Mahou is a good party beer when there is nothing. Also a good beer when served in restaurants. Cruzcampo has its ups and downs.
But if there is one brand Im crazy for is La Virgen, best beer ever.

Just finished the Camino Frances and was pleasantly surprised at the lovely flavor of Estrella Galicia. Also, the non alcohol beers in Spain are way better than the ones in the USA.

Love this types of videos. My one suggestion is to initially have your list and Yoli’s list for comparison... showing the viewer. I always liked Alhambra, and San Miguel I drank as a student 50 years ago for 5 pesetas, there was also a version from the Philippines. Estrella is great!

You should do it again but with bottles instead of cans, beer always tastes better out of a bottle. My fav is Estrella Galicia so I’m happy with your conclusion, but I do love a cold bottle of Alhambra Reserva when I can find it.

So funny! Yet you had a good 'empirical' approach. I must say, having tasted a lot of Spanish lager/beer, Yoli's list was pretty spot on!. However, I wondered as I watched whether your decisions would be influenced by the lower levels of beer in the glass as you tasted....that said, you were pretty spot on in terms of quality. I normally drink real ales in the UK, but enjoy a cana of beer (or 5) when in Spain; after this, I'll be checking out Estrella Galicia in future :-)

Great video guys. They do taste better in a bottle or out of the tap. San Miguel and Amstell are my favs though here in Valencia.
I'm Galician, I believe I know the business :). Estrella Galicia is not the best beer in Spain, but Estrella Galicia's 1906 (just 1906, not the red vintage or black coupage). Also, I personally dislike Mahou, but Mahou 5 estrellas is delicious, and it's the one I usually buy since it feels lighter and easier to drink, while keeping an amazing flavour. It's great for summertime. I'd put normal Estrella Galicia and Mahou 5 estrellas at about the same level. Estrella Damm, San Miguel, Cruzcampo are just too watery to my liking, although I do like Alhambra! Quite surprised to see it near the bottom.
If you do like Estrella Galicia that much, you should visit the company's bar in A Coruña. The freshly made beer they serve there is just on a completely different level! Just warning you: the place is usually packed. That's a good sign ;)
PS: those beers were flat at the end of the video, you guys gotta drink faster!
