i am not in the demographic, but listening to truly pained music like Molina (also discovered late) goes well with Greg Cartwright and Reigning Sound who emerged from my beloved garage punk scene and bypassed the hipsters that drove poor fellas like this insane. if youre hitting your lifes nadir, i recommend Reigning Sound (start at the beginning) and the recent Cheater Slicks albums. i feel this guys fans helped push him over the edge. And drove Molina to drink himself away, because those guys, along with Cartwright, are real deal contemporary anti-hipsters. but pressure....they were under a lot

Can I just confess my favorite part of every neutral milk hotel live recording is the like 10 minutes of banter we get at the beginning? Its so rare we get good footage of them so seeing them in their prime doing their thing is just so nice.

I used to have this exact live performance burned onto a CD (which was shaped with grooves to resemble an old vinyl LP) and listened to it in the car all the time. I was desperate for new NMH content and would scour the internet for them. This one is probably one of their best sets ever.

That! That is the most passionate, powerful performance of Two-Headed Boy I’ve ever seen. Jeff really knows how to phrase guitar harmonic form and write a compelling melody.

I just discovered them like 6 months ago too and it makes me mad because I was 20 when ITAOTS came out. Why didn't I know about them in 1998? That's so irritating.

There is apparently something coming from NMH in 2023. Most likely release of some old demos or something low-key like that, but we hold out hope for a tour…

Two Headed Boy has been my favorite song for nearly two decades now. I just watched this video for the first time, and balled my eyes out during that encore w/ scott. Jeff truly harnesses something in his voice and music. If you're watching this, you understand.

Was lucky to be able to see Jeff play his solo tour and at the best venue, ACL Live in Austin in 2012. Got even luckier to see NMH at the same venue in 2013. Both front row. I still can't beleive it. Both my biddy and I agreed that the vocals were even better than the album. PLEASE COME BACK JEFF and NMH!!
