    Great explanation! I do think the pressurized baskets can have their place for beginners (I was really frustrated with my machine the first couple weeks), but boy the coffee tastes SO much better with a properly prepared puck in a non pressurized basket, so I would say keep on trying if you're struggling to get it right. What bugs me about the Barista Express baskets is that even the non pressurized have a bit of an angle to them. Hoon bought some 3rd party baskets from China recently that have completely straight walls, but I think the shipping takes forever to get here and I'm moving in a few months, so I haven't ordered them to try them out.

      Yes the pressurized baskets are great when first starting out but could also turn someone away from the machine because even with a perfect looking shot it can still taste bad and they may blame the machine! But yes the baskets Hoon bought from ali Express I believe they looked great!

    Very nice and good information on this channel .Breville advised me when the coffee is past prime to use the dual wall basket because stale coffee won't get the right pressure .In this case the coffee might be able to be acceptable for a coffee Americano Love your doggies also .HR.

    Great video! I like to use the dual walled basket only when I make a rare decaf shot just because those beans typically aren’t the freshest and I don’t typically take the time to dial them in.

    Hi! Great Video! I just bought a Breville express and I love Starbucks dark roast beans as that's what I am used to and prefer. I normally get lattes and that's what I plan on making. My question to you what should I dial in for those beans? Should I just have Starbucks Grind them fine for me and if so should I use a pressurized or non filter basket or should I have them grind medium and use a pressurized?

      Also if you have another machine or model that might be good for me with the Starbucks Dark Roast that I like as I may have to return or exchange my machine

    Nice well rounded video of the family and great technical explanation of single and dual wall baskets. When she pulls her own shot, my wife doesn't have the patience to progress past the dual wall basket (lol). BTW, I really like your Blackhawks t-shirt.

    Great explanation. I moved over to the single wall baskets a few months back. So don't throw them away then...you still need them for the backflush :-). Additionally, those dual wall baskets are recommended for use with already ground coffee. At least, that's what I read somewhere...

    • @DylansHomeEspressoBar
      @DylansHomeEspressoBar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are good for pregrounded coffee if you had some laying around. I wouldn’t recommend it but they are there haha and yes definitely for the back flush! You are 💯 percent correct!

    And using really fresh coffee beans and not the supermarket stuff... as I've learnt you don't get a good result if you use supermarket coffee beans especially if they are a couple months old... no good. Fresh coffee beans from a coffee shop and use what you have within 4weeks. And if it's older than 4weeks then go the dual wall you will get a better result then, maybe not the best Espresso but it will still produce a better extraction than the single wall in this case due to the good pressure the dual wall has to get the best extraction for the coffee ground age, still a good lattè or cappuccino though.

    It took me few months to understand why I am not able to get a very strong espresso shot at home unlike when I go to the Italian cafe shops.
    The reason was I am using the stupid pressurized basket all these months and it made me feel very sad because whatever I did the coffee won't come out strong and the crema disappears quickly.
    I honestly never paid attention to these detail since I was thinking that all the espresso machines and technics are the same

    Great class guys! ive never even started with the dual wall baskets! I challenged myself from the start. Kind of glad I did now seeing what the flow is like from your diagram. I only use the dual wall single basket for cleaning like you mentioned and the single wall double basket is the only one for coffee making. I don’t even use the single wall single basket, wow that’s really hard to say several times haha! I’m confusing myself lol!

    Yesterday got a new Barista Pro.
    As a beginner in the coffee world my technique very far from being good nevertheless I'm after a very good cup of Espresso.
    If my goal is one cup of not too strong and bitter coffee
    should I use Single wall - single basket
    and press 1 cup on the machine?
    Thank you very much for your time

    • @solomonliu7354
      @solomonliu7354 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're going to get a stronger coffee nevertheless because you're making espresso. Now, if you want a less stronger cup of espresso I would recommend the single wall single basket and one shot of espresso. It wouldn't make much sense to use single basket and press the double shot unless you're looking for an over-extracted cup of espresso.
