- Tax revenue from alcohol raises £12.5billion each year, but the harm caused by it is estimated to cost over £27billion.
Is it time to charge more to claw back some of this money?

Pubs is an essential part of British culture. They need to have protections so that we don’t lose anymore.
In these coffee shops. What are spring and up all over the country? It is nearly £5 for one cup of coffee.
Its still over £5 a pint 'up north' and non-alochol is a lot more expensive
Lots of pubs are closing because people already can’t afford the prices. Binge drinkers pre-drink on cheap supermarket booze before going out to the pub, so have a think where any new regulations on alcohol are needed…
Well, since a bar of chocolate (family size) went up from 99P to £125 i don't eat as much chocolate.😂🇬🇧
The smoking ban on June the 1st 2007 killed the pub trade. Why they couldn't have just left it. The way it was I will never understand. There was a part of the pub. Or club where you could smoke and the other part.
I noticed a shift way back when my brother's millenial kids just went to the park with their friends to drink when they were 15. I (and friends) were trying to get into pubs at that age. My brother's kids never really then made the jump into pub life and never really bothered to go.
when i started drinking beer in 1974 i paid 14 p for a pint of bitter todays prices are crazy time to reduce the price of a pint before our pubs close down.stop the supermarkets selling cheap booze
Nanny state.
Yes
Wow I'm in agreement with Mr parry.thats a first.
More dead pubs, beer well overpriced already. Many brew there own now.
Never understood this needing to drink alcohol attitude. For brits it becomes as normal as buying milk, very odd. 4 bottles of wine a week, is a lot, half a bottle a day. I say wack the prices up to sane level as cigarettes. Two perfect examples of drinkers, one on the phone a recovering slcoholic and Mike hardly looks the picture of health.
It’s already been done
go back to 11 til 3 and 7 til 11 like it was stop selling alchocl in shpop super markets and just from off liences for people health
It’s already to expensive which is why young people don’t drink. Look how sweden sell their alcohol very interesting.
Treble the price 😂😂
Pubs shouldn't be part of British culture. They don't have them in Europe or most places around the world and they don't have the alcohol related issues that we have here
Welcome to muslim Britain
