I wouldn't say that David is the best bassist. Nor would he ever claim to be. But his sound is so recognizable that it really made Megadeth what it was in its' golden years. Thank you David Ellefson.

Love this guy. Megadeth is a better band than they've been in a while, but the true, natural sound of that band needs not only Ellefson's bass, but his backups. I'm so sick of the smoke this guy gets for not even close to what others in the industry have done forever. I worship Mustaine, but Ellefson is for me, as irreplaceable as Megadave.
I remember listening to this song on a mixed tape called Thrash Metal or something like that back in the late 80's probably. This was the only song I remember...there might have been an Anthrax song on there too...and Slayer maybe. lol. Anyway, that is how I was introduced to Megadeth and from there I started buying their albums and have been a fan every since. I still play along to Hook in Mouth at every jam session.
Loving that song since, well, for me 1991. Awesome bass, no 1 metal bass player of all time, id say. And speaking of banjo, if you told me you were related to Steve Martin, id fine it beleiveable
The most recent concerts I've seen Megadeth play......once on the Dystopia tour, once with Scorpions , three times with The Hu and also three times with Lamb of God.....Megadeth is pretty much a cover band now. I've seen David Ellefson (Kings of Thrash band) play live twice and they sound more like Megadeth than Dave Mustaine's Megadeth.
Damn the main riff I wanted to see was behind the lead/solo line - all the tabs are garbage for that riff and it's tricky to hear whats going on! Can you do a part 2? lol!
