Will never get tired of watching this. Well done Plum, it's a bit of a cliche but they don't make them like this any more, this was the golden age of rally programmes.
Besides all the great racing footage, gotta say some of the soundtrack is pretty awesome as well. Anybody knows the names of those tunes ? Particularly the recurring deep bass bit with the Omar Souleymanesque flangered synths (as at 23:00) ? Or the one at 42:20 ? Edit : end credits give David Jameson as the original music's composer.
Leaving Letterkenny Breakfast halt on the final Day 5...Plum Tyndall very accurately gave the Time Between Austin & Billy Correctly 1min 11sec...71sec in Austins favour. ..2 more stages in Donegal were left, and 3 then over the border in Co Tyrone. ..Billy took -23 seconds back on SS51 Glenmafin the lead down to 48 sec, it Certainly unnerved Austin & Christy then, often the gap was reported to be almost 3 minutes which was never the case.. starting SS52 Cloughfin ...then Austin who revelled in 2007 to plum during the making of his Tarmac titan 📼 video that he hit a manhole cover and The Blocked Cracked in Car no 10 the DOTI Manta 400 and instant Retirement ...Coleman crossed the Border with the sister Car a Left Hooker Manta 400 car no 9 with a now 20minutes lead now with 3 stages to go...People have had there views on that event for 40 years now..But Billys Tactics of finding a pace that would preserve the Opel Manta , Even the final Morning he backed off in the Gruelling Stages in West Donegal as seen on the video Austin was on the revlimiter on muckish Billy didn't rev it out until after breakfast ..believing it was high risk territory for a mishap...a Certain amount of Sympathy for Austin for sure he was in sight of joining a very elite club to win the 5 day Marathon as it was until 1986, as part of British and European championship's. but you must "seal the deal" ...but Billy was a wise old Owl👏..it made since to make his final attack when "pace notes" were allowed for the last 5 stages as was day 1 Good friday until the Border crossing Saturday morning, but in between all "blind"..Golden Memories. ...👑👑Pat Sullivan VHS 📼 videos 📹1990s
