- Route 66 has a lot of great road trip stops in the state of Oklahoma. This was the fifth state that we entered during our two-week trip and we spent a couple days driving through the state and visiting spots like Pops Soda Ranch, the Blue Whale of Catoosa, and the Sandhills Curiosity Shop. Oklahoma might be my favorite state on the route and I hope you enjoy this video!

I lived in Oklahoma city from 99 to17 and loved every minute of it. I hope one day I will find my way back to my beloved Oklahoma.
Literally the part of him saying “a severe thunderstorm warning for two hours” right after seeing a beautiful night, might be the most oklahomiest things I have ever witnessed!:)great vid

My grandparents owned a farm and cafe/gas station/grocery in Warwick across the road from Seaba Station (shown in the video). My grandfather worked at Seaba Station at one time. Their tiny cafe seated 8 at a big L-shaped counter. Customers drove 8 miles out from Chandler to eat with Pete lining up several deep at lunch time to eat her blue-plate specials and her homemade pies and cobblers. When my mom was a child during WWII, ages 6- 10, she marched back and forth in front of the mailbox right there waving at all the troops driving by singing all the military songs like "Anchors Away", "From the Halls of Montezuma", and so many more. Route 66 has always been and always will be a huge part of my life.

I grew up in Tulsa and as a kid my parents used to take us to go swimming at the blue whale 🐳, in the mid 70’s, they eventually shut it down because the waters became infested with snakes, and several kids ended up getting bit by water moccasins, they had signs up for warnings for awhile, swim at your own risk, “Snakes” but couldn’t maintain the waters, and upkeep in general, so they closed the swimming hole and the blue whale just sat empty for the longest time. I live in Oregon now, but went back to visit family a while back, I was surprised and it was nice to see they reopened it for touring, so I got my camera out and did a photo shoot to remind me of my childhood growing up there. And the fun I had swimming at the Blue Whale 🐳
You've inspired my wife and I to plan a trip along the entirety of Route 66!

Living here all my life its cool seeing all the route 66 stuff i have yet to find. The rock cafe is amazing food. I love finding places to eat on the route. All the old service stations and buildings. Gives q little glimpse of how life used to be.
Gosh growing up in Oklahoma and traveling by all those places as a kid I didn’t appreciate it back then. I remember the round red barn before they fixed it up and it became famous :)

I lived in Weatherford for a year! Not much to do there, but rent was only $110 a month! Oklahoma has a unique earthy smell. I kinda miss it sometimes.

Love following the journey. Got a laugh out of the soda challenge. Worth watching just to see the amazing round barn. Thanks for letting us tag along. Drove 66 way back in the 50s when my family would travel from Kentucky to California to visit relatives. Lots of great memories and a few old videos.
We used video to go through the state of oaklohoma. We had a great time. Thank you the food was great.
Nice video. It shows what a truly wonderful amazing place Oklahoma is. Oklahoma really has a lot to offer. In Oklahoma City a person could be there 1 month and not see everything. I am planning my vacation there this year after watching this video. Oklahoma has just about everything a person could want.
if you go back down route 66 going through Vinita, inside of that McDonald's is a little route 66 store. there's also a cafe called Clanton's there in Vinita. Guy Fieri visited there in one of his episodes of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. he said they have the best country fried steak. and he wasn't kidding. it's the best country fried steak I've ever had. I will definitely be following your route 66 visits.
We used to stop at Pop's in Arcadia and the Warwick motorcycle museum all the time when I was riding with the local scooter club.

Are you still planning on going with the chinese virus? We are thinking about RVing Route 66 from Tulsa to the Grand Canyon, hopefully avoiding the virus.

Overall a great video. The section on Davenport was actually 3 places. The service station was Davenport. Rock Cafe was in Stroud. And the Chrysler sign is Bristow (My hometown).

1:40 Elk City. By the time he was 21 hall of fame song writer Jim Webb had written "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," and "Galveston." He went on to write other famous songs. He was born right there in Elk City.

My dad Bill Swan made a lot of iconic fiberglass statues which are placed along Route 66 some of which are in a short Amazon book for only 14.99 called "The man behind the mufflerman ".

Oklahoma has all of the best places in route 66 🙂👍 and your channel inspired me to travel to places i never been to but I'm willing to give it a try 👍 and it's cool to see the neon lights because those are cool and retro 😎👍 and the food there looks great to eat👌.
When visiting Pop’s on R66, you missed out by going when it was closed. Inside is decent food, great souvenirs and hundreds of different soda’s from all over, some, truly bizarre!

I have a T-shirt that is from Pop's Soda Ranch that I found in a thrift store here in Fresno California, and when I bought it, it was like new.
Awesome. I'm planning on a Route 66 road-trip, but I'll wait until more things are open and back to normal. I want to be able to stop by all the cool spots without them being closed.

I still think it would be cool if some of these now-closed attractions could be reopened and manned by people who are currently houseless/homeless, and for a place to live, they man the shop or oversee the attraction and share the history and added tidbits of information about it. Anyone who is willing to relocate would be considered. It would help these people to feel reconnected to society by having a place to live and a job that helps preserve the history of a major piece of Americana.
if you ignore the mental illness, alcoholism and drug addiction that got them there in the first place. Dumb idea, but noble.
if you come to Oklahoma and only visit sights in brick town on RT 66 your missing s hell of a lot of good stuff Oklahoma is a great state with a lot of goodies to see
Can you tell me what to see. I am planning my vacation in Oklahoma this year. I may vacation in Oklahoma every year.
At 0.22 you're standing right outside my former apartment when I left college 😊 for that building was right nearby. If you Google Earth it you'll see that crappy apartment right on Garth Brooks Blvd (part of 66) and Cornwell Dr. I shrieked out when you showed that Grain silo thing 😅 it was a great location cuz when the ice storms hit I couldn't get out of the driveway so I'd walk to Arby's or Braums from there.
Also I'd stop at Sids and it was always closed the decade I lived in the area. I'd sit in the parking lot waiting for my client appointment. I knew it was famous but I couldn't afford it then.
Another great video! I did Route 66 with my Dad in two segments. The first from Rancho Cucamonga to Tulsa in 1994 and then 2001 from OKC to Chicago with my Dad, Mom and Son. Oklahoma may be my favorite Route 66 state too. It’s fascinating to see how many things have changed since then. Many originals (people and places) are gone. Most of the museums you feature are new since then. I have gone back and done several Route 66 segments in OK again more recently and plan to do the entire route again in my RV in 66 days the other direction from Chicago to Santa Monica.
I am envious in that I wanted to collaborate on a magazine article on our journey. This was well before “easy video” was possible. How many days did your drive take?

Sid’s Diner in El Reno. Great food, great service and very popular. Didn’t try the onion burger but the burger I had was nice and juicy.
Theer is also a Weatherford, Texas. I lived there for about 2 years. Sometimes shippers will not look at the state in the address and send packages to the wrong Weatherford
Omg I feel bad u guys missed eating at Sids diner. My wife and I stopped there on our way to California in 2010 and we STILL remember the awesome taste of those onion burgers.
Bummer! We got there like 5 minutes after they closed. So close!

I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy Sid's Onion Burger Diner in El Reno. It's amazing. I have done a commercial shoot promoting Route 66 for its anniversary celebration later this month I will see if I can attach the link for you to watch. If so the first two people you see in the video will be me and my wife along with two other couples with kids that were part of this major production.

Usually if a place was closed it was just too early or too late in the day. We tired to do as much as possible but many places wouldn’t open till 10 and then often closed by like 3. Depends on the area though

Sid's in El Reno is totally worth it in my opinion and that Yukon's Best Flour elevator is actually in Yukon about 20 minutes from El Reno.
Robert's Grill serves best onion burger, anywhere.

Left out Buffalo Ranch which is now Woodshed but it still has Buffalo and you missed going through what's left of picher Oklahoma where I was born and raised right on Route 66 + 69 you can see what they've done to my hometown

I WAS STATIONED ON THE ISLAND KNOWN AS THE BLUE DOLPHIN USN HAS A BASE THERE CALLED SAN NICHOLAS ISLAND. 65 MILES OFF THE COAST OF OXNARD CALIFORNIA. POINT MUGU IS PART OF IT. IT IS A WEAPONS TEST RANGE FOR MILITARY, INCLUDING THE JAPANES SELF DEFENSE FORCES.
FEW BLOCKS ON 25 STREET IS AN ASIAN GROCERY STORE THAT WILL TAKE YOU TO ASIA, STREET GOIN TO CAPITAL IS AN AWESOME VIETNAMESE RESTRUANT NUMBER 6 IS REALLY GOOD ON MENU

Do you explore the history of Route 66 in each down or just see the attractions? I just completed Oklahoma. I explored all the history, so I was curious about the best route.
