    Wow! As usual another great video. I will share this with my friend maybe he can service his Date just lol. I put it on my timegrapher it is -85 s/d with a beat error of 0.4 it badly needs service. Funny thing is he's been wearing the Восток Амфибия I sold him last year and it's keeping perfect time for him. Talk about going from a Rolls to a Chevy. I have found watch collecting to be about happiness, fun, and your own identity. Half the fun is research, and saving up to buy the watch. Money from cheap to luxury prices really doesn't matter.

    Great video,I really enjoyed it.I bought a pre owned 2020Tudor Pelago a few weeks ago.It stopped working.I took it to my local Rolex/Tudor dealer,who called me a day later to say it was very over lubricated.The worse they had seen.So it seems to be a common problem!

      @richardperrettwatchmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David... Bit odd that a 2020 watch is over lubrucated. I cannot think this would happen at Tudor and the watch is too new for a service to have been necessary. Not sure how this occurred. Richard

    Lubricants. I had a customer that sold Aimsoil and he changed his filter every 5k miles and oil every 30k. Well a few years later we were installing a replacement engine because it didn’t have oil pressure. Had so much build up from running the old oil. I think he quit selling it after that. Does anybody know if it is true that there is s sort of 'upgrade' for the automatic mechanism for early 2135 movements? I once heard, unconfirmed, that in early production the reversing mechanism had some components that were not identical to later production, and that replacing them would enhance the perforance of the automatic. I'd just like to know.

I recently had my late grandfather's Rolex 1950s Shock Resisting gold repaired to running condition - got fleeced by a "master" watchmaker who cut corners and overcharged. Got a partial refund and its now with a proper watchmaker. Brilliant piece of design and engineering - love the watch. Valuer having real trouble valuing it though - if you know about vintage Rolex/Swiss watches valuation, it would make an interesting video. Regards/ from Australia.

I'm afraid that my repertoire of profanity would be inadequate were I to attempt the "strong spring/tiny jewel" episode. Much more satisfying to see an actual watchmaker who produces such fine videos. Thanks for a lovely start to my morning!

    From a technical standpoint, how do you know whether to apply grease versus oil to a particular place?

      In general terms low torque, high speed components require 'thinner' lubes than high torque, low speed ones ... but specifically the lubrication specifications for popular calibres are pretty well known so I just follow these. Hope this helps. Richard

      Hi Alan... Metal coated in teflon due to its low friction quality. Hope this helps. Richard

    Great video once again! Love the work you do and the care you take to bring them back.
    I would like to add one thing. I have noticed in a few videos that you call the luminescent marker " Tritium " . In fact they are not. Tritium is found in glass vials like on a Luminox watch.
    I truly wish Rolex would use tritium. Especially on their dive watches such as the Deep-Sea that I own. That would make sense.
    I have been also trying to find a video where dial markers have come loose and need to be reinstalled. I just would like to see how it is done. I have a Baume & Mercier ( Baume et Mercier ) that needs the markers reinstalled. And I do not wish to just use the wrong glue or adhesive to re mount them on a dial.
