RETURNAL | R_A.0770 Crimson Wastes [Hollowseeker + Melee] (HDR) NO DAMAGE

Longtime viewers of the Archive are aware that I've a contentious relationship with the Hollowseeker. Popular though it may be, I find the weapon frustrating to use: its projectiles are slow and do minimal damage, calling to mind the age-old adage about "death by a thousand paper-cuts," and the auditory and visual pollution it creates when firing endangers the player, skewing its risk-reward ratio toward "risk." Despite these drawbacks-or, perhaps, in spite of them-I still fancy picking up a Hollowseeker and wreaking havoc now and again. Here, amongst the blasted landscape that is the Crimson Wastes, I wield one with the Shrapnel trait to eliminate a swarm of Aetheract, punctuating the action with alt-fire Shieldbreaker (at 0:03, 0:24, and 0:43), melee (at 0:15), and even the Spaceship Model artifact for a weaponized Dash (at 0:33).
Housemarque's RETURNAL celebrates its third birthday on 2024 April 30. Between now and then, new content will be posted to the Archive to mark this milestone. This content consists of clips recorded in previous years that had been overlooked, as well as gameplay footage recorded recently when, missing my adventures on Atropos, I picked up a PlayStation 5 controller once again and set out as Selene in search of some sort of salvation. Thereafter, on April 30 itself and weekly through June 4, all-new, full-biome runs will be shared to celebrate this gem of a game.
