Good story. However, lots of countries on earth still practice slavery. You can always tell when the author is from a western country when the theme of anti-slavery as a virtue pops up.

It's not a virtue to be anti-slavery it should be a human thing, and for the most part, it is.
Its is sadly rather telling when someone sees being anti slavery as some 'western virtue'
