I work in a pharmacy while studying to be a doctor. This line at 16:58 really made me stop what i was doing. When it comes to children with medical problems it's not a joking matter and is of the highest priority. Damn right its "No more nice"
"The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife."
Student - "Sensai, what is the greatest lesson you can teach us?"
Sensai - "Beware of old men in places where men die young and never EVER fight an old man who smiles at you, for he has forgotten more than you have ever learned"
Rule of Acquisition #44
48th Rule of Acquisition. One of the more important rules in the book.
I lost it when he mentioned the council trying to tax black holes! I like that one!
Additionaly, the line, someone read a book on how to build warships, and said nice guide lines, lets make it scarier. Is my favorite.
So true, I keep man eye out for teh humorous ones!
"If you wish for peace prepare for war" - Roman Proverb
When you look at some of the stuff we humans do from the outside we are bat shit insane... I love every second of it.
Si vis pacem parabellum
You have no idea.. some of the things, I've seen and done during service, would break a normal human
Yes 🥵 totally insane by principals of self governance.
@danieldomeisen2632 I think it was Thusides that said that. Greek, not Roman
"They killed children."
No more terrifying words could have been said.
I can give you three.
"They violated children."
See, now that would piss people off a lot more.

I can do better: the humans united to avenge their children
There are 4 worse. “They touched our boats”
honestly humans usually don’t care that much as long as their own children are save
This was freaking good! That saying "hope for the best, plan for the worst" is ingrained in everything we do. Whether it be rescue operations after a hurricane, or a show of force on some a-hole's border. We like to be nice, until you deliberately piss us off.
"Be nice, until it's time to not be nice."
Famous movie line.

This almost feels like "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" if earth wasn't demolished in order to facilitate an intergalactic highway construction project for a hyperspace express route.
"don't walk away, run" perfectly put
considering we're pursuit predators, that just means they die tired
@merrick1588
the safest way to hunt ;)
Nice is a courtesy, not a necessity. Love that quote
Brings back memories from a phrase in the movie Roadhouse.
Be nice, until I tell you it's time. NOT to be nice.
When you follow the rules, unexpected things eventually happen when the last thread of tolerance breaks.
An unexpected, mighty fine story. Reforming things with differing smiles.
Rule of acquisition #48
The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife😁😁 very well done on this story
I think my favorite part is that the humans end up being the ones to teach the rest of the galaxy all the lessons that we need to learn right now as a species. It would be a situation where we finally evolved beyond our selfish, thinking and using that evolution taught the rest of the species That lesson
These stories should really become a series, book, or game.
Awesome story - my favorite yet - kindness should never be confused for weakness 😊
Indeed. Peaceful ≠ Harmless.
Thanks!
"Traditions that cost lives are traditions that need updating" that's perfect
One of the few and rare good stories... well done..
Humanity : Improvise, adapt, overcome FOR MILLENIA
ah yes, diplomacy is saying good boy while reaching for a bigger clobbering stick
When politicians start acting like statesmen. When the courts become impartial. When governments stop creating new rules and higher taxes. When bureaucracy becomes efficient. BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!
Take a shot every time the narrator's membranes trembled with excitement
Have the local emergency services on speed dial for the inevitable alcohol poisoning.
That phrase reminded me of a high school science teacher who got so excited during lessons he had to stop for a drink of water. Loved that class, so good memories!
Interesting... What lead commander said pretty much was citation from ancient roman author Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus: "si vis pacem, para bellum" (if you want peace, prepare for war), and how the aftermath played out: „Parcere subiectis et debellare superbos.” (To spare those who submit and to tame the proud).
Alternate title: the day humanity stopped saying sorry
If you think we are good at war... we are even better at production, distribution, and making extremely solid and fair deals that actually benefit the parties involved. We are good for promises. We are fast, innovative, and more than happy to trade with anyone even moderately nice. Worst of all, it happens silently. You don't even notice because everything is going so smoothly and improving as more falls under a single jurisdictional system of efficiency and standards. So no one sees it. Until they try to mess with it. By then, humans AREthe economy.
Many humans are also extremely good at corruption, wanton cruelty, gaslighting, etc.
Great story, but I knew this was true science fiction when we came to the point where humans simplified the bureaucratic processes...
And this is pure ACCURACY
The really unrealistic part is the council acknowledging they messed up. They 100% would've kept arguing that they did nothing wrong until they went extinct.
Well there is defenitly systems where there is mkre beaucraticy
Like electric cars and reusable rockets, it won't be science fiction much longer, D.O.G.E. making bureaucracy efficient since 2025
12:55 "Retroactive of course, stroke, they should have been paying attention to [...]" These AI voices always break me when they, well, break lmaoo
Tell me about it I thought my headset suddenly broke lol!!
Yup, don't take kindness as weakness.
There is something you should know about Chen...he has a sister named Sarah who is quite experienced with slapping galactic councils
The galaxy is full of Chens.
Next time, try Lee...
There are a million Lee's
Chen, Rodriguez, no white men though, they're a slave class in the future. 🥴
@@nathanbrown8196Ah, but there are trillions of Chens. (Yes, I do get the ATLA reference)
When you name something "Death world" BEFORE anything happens .... do not poke the hornets nest
The dialog is so reminiscent of Douglas Adams. Just wonderful as always.
"The council's fatal mistake occurred on what humans call Tuesday"
"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday."
That was one of your better stories - well done.
he only copies from reddit tho, its free money
not even gives credit
@@eumesmo5306 Was it plagiarised? I didn't recognise the story, but I loath and despise people who rip off Reddit stories without credit and permission.
@randomstranger9674 these come somewhere from the HFY subreddit. Even the newest video on the channel is labeled HFY.
@@danegerous24HFY is a sub genre of sci fi, not just a subreddit. I don’t know about this one, but most of these little channels use AI to write stories.
Great storytelling. Reminds me of old-school space operas but in a short-story format.
The Chen family strikes again.
Another very human trait. Hubris. Telling stories about intergalactic governments painting humans as the superior underdog clever ones while at the same time making every other intergalactic species and council less superior, but thinking they are. Prime human story telling 🙃
Excellent story. Well delivered.
Computer notational Addendum: There is a human saying. "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer." My my... Truly a beautiful, and yet chilling saying. Though it has been cycles now since that day the Humans stopped being nice. I can not help but wonder. Are we friends, or enemies of the humans? I fear we may never know, or even will ever want to know. Computer. End Addendum.
Basically canadians, right?
Edit: wow, i never expected such a debate over this comment.
Look up who is the cause of most of the Geneva Convention rules...
Not even close. Remember in the US those military units that don't exist.
Says the person wholly unfamiliar with Canadian military procurement.
@panopticon3461 and you know this how?
It's not a war crime the first time
Rodriguez, Chen and Patel again!!
This is the 3rd variation of this story I have seen on this platform now
The names of the aliens feels so golden era sci fi.
That was sweet! I felt appreciated. Thank you!
Fun story. As a fan of sci-fi it scratch fulfilled the desire for the overpowered underdog. Definitely worth the listen!
I am intrigued by these stories, but the hubris that humanity would have this big of a presence 😅
it ain't hubris if you win 😂
"Hey guys look what i found, its an old warhammer 40k book"
"You know what... that gives me an idea"
Time to pull out the Geneva checklist
I was tearing up when I heard the human doctor on the com say, "They killed children."
thanks for a wonderful story. i really enjoy not having battles to resolve things
but please get someone to edit and correct the subtitles
Not gonna happen.
Closed captions always suck.
I've listened to probably five of these stories today and as if by magic, the characters are all named Rodriguez and Chen
AI storywriting. Starbound hfy and net narrator cover stories that are both human written and narrated.
@@UpperDarbyDetailingit's getting so annoying you should cop a full on fraud charge for non disclosure.
@@cianmoriarty7345 what? You mean the channel owner should?
Good story, very rosy and feel good, but I really don't think an outside group, that the whole species is convinced that they are a threat to the children, would survive such a diplomatic blunder.
First rule of earth mammals, don't hurt the babies, or be ready for some excitement. For a frame of reference, a safari tour guide took out an attacking tiger with a screwdriver, just for job security.
Good story. But I wish that the subtitles knew rhe difference between patients and patience.
I'm reminded of "The Kzinti Lesson"
That was a good book series
Agreed.
But I don't recall that particular lesson.
Epic!
Demons run when a good man goes to war.
That brilliant, thank you 😉❤
I wonder when we'll learn to act like this on our own planet.
If ever.
Really funny. Good work.
What's a death world category exactly?
"that smile" 😆 did you know for primates *smiling* is a threat
And then humans gave smiling multiple different meanings, depending on the mood and situation.
Bless their hearts!!!!😁
So this is a continuation of the other movies
Some of the scariest words in the English language:
"The British are running VERY low on Tea!! And the kettle isn't working properly!!!"
Good story and read very meaningfully and well :) 🌷🌱
They messed with “doc”…..😮
There they go with it both names again Chen Rodriguez wow
I really like these AI contuations of the Babylon 5 series.
Every species within the galaxy horrifyingly, devastatingly learned firsthand & far too late what the human philosophical quote “Don’t confuse kindness for weakness” truly meant lol;)! Instead of telling them what it meant, they preferred to show them because “Actions speak louder than words”! Another philosophical quote they learned the hard way!
"Ugly bags of mostly water." -Star Trek TNG
Awesome story 😂😂❤❤❤❤
Quite a lot to learn here, for a human of course
And another Chen...
Cant the AI use another name...im all Chenned out.
You have to watch out for the ones that smile .....
Must be relations to the HFY channel...chens everywhere
2 Rules of Humanity
No violence towards children
Don't touch our boats
This makes me exceedingly terrified of humans at some moments lol ayo. Are we really like this?
Sounds like we took on Elon’s business practices to heart 😂
Welcome to Sol, gentlemen.
These stories are fun to listen and a reminder of what the US did in WW2 and why we should always be vigilant.
The first machine I used at school school was the same brand
Good Short Story.
"properly motivated" :D
Anticlimactic, yes, kupo.
Still amusing, also yes, kupo.
Aparently, humans were not the easy target many thought they would be ! ... 😊👍 😂😂😂
❤❤❤
Never damage something that will save a kids life and never target a medic 2 of several ways to get on a humans bad side
Earth's system is called Sol not Soul.😂
Wow aliens never discovered the potential ability of soft power?
10/10 This was stupidly easy! I'm 57 (born 1967)
Great story. Would never last against klingons or romulans. Or the borg. Or the sith.
the term 'a hissing snake' should have been used here
nice *grin*
Rodriguez!
Why the hell isn't this a movie? Or better yet a tv series?
A pity the EU doesn't listen to this!
The EU does, the member countries threaten to leave at the smallest disturbance of their "tradition". Locals elect extremists that promise to uphold traditions against common good.
Can those humans also take care of the German bureaucracy... would be nice of them...
Sounds a lot like what President Trump is doing in many ways (as revealed by his first week in office - go read the White House reports) - reduce bureaucracy (slash executive orders), streamline FEMA/emergency response (CA wildfire and NC hurricane responses), using tariffs to cut through foreign policy political stagnation (i.e., Colombia illegals). This video is showing how peace through strength works...and effectively/efficiently.
Some minor editing and this would be solid pika 👍
Unless your thinking is done by others those morals are common sense.
hey guys what made you to watch these videos
Good story, but where did all the asteroids go?
