Interesting... What lead commander said pretty much was citation from ancient roman author Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus: "si vis pacem, para bellum" (if you want peace, prepare for war), and how the aftermath played out: „Parcere subiectis et debellare superbos.” (To spare those who submit and to tame the proud).

If you think we are good at war... we are even better at production, distribution, and making extremely solid and fair deals that actually benefit the parties involved. We are good for promises. We are fast, innovative, and more than happy to trade with anyone even moderately nice. Worst of all, it happens silently. You don't even notice because everything is going so smoothly and improving as more falls under a single jurisdictional system of efficiency and standards. So no one sees it. Until they try to mess with it. By then, humans AREthe economy.

These stories are fun to listen and a reminder of what the US did in WW2 and why we should always be vigilant.

The EU does, the member countries threaten to leave at the smallest disturbance of their "tradition". Locals elect extremists that promise to uphold traditions against common good.

Sounds a lot like what President Trump is doing in many ways (as revealed by his first week in office - go read the White House reports) - reduce bureaucracy (slash executive orders), streamline FEMA/emergency response (CA wildfire and NC hurricane responses), using tariffs to cut through foreign policy political stagnation (i.e., Colombia illegals). This video is showing how peace through strength works...and effectively/efficiently.
