That's actually a CLR screen not an ALR screen. ALR screens are designed for rejecting light from every direction except from the front whereas the CLR screens which are particularly designed for Ultra Short Throw projecotrs works on the principal you have clearly described. The points to be noted are - 1. If you have a long throw or short throw projector which follows standard front projection then go for an ALR screen. 2. If you have an Ultra Short Throw Projector then go for CLR Screen.

I am using BenQ tk700. I watch movies through the projector only at night without any lights. Which screen do u suggest white or ALR...?? I am planning to buy a Suvira 133 inch white screen. Is it ok....?? Plz suggest. Thank you.
White is fine if the consumption is in dark ambience. Only if you desire for Greater depths and compromise a little on brightness, then go for grey fabric

The fabric is such that it reflects the light coming from the bottom. And for long throw, there are grey fabrics which are referred as ALR. Works only when the projector brightness is high and deeper contrast is required.

I'm looking for setting up a home theatre but purchasing one by one and thinking about future proof devices only. 4k projector (XGIMI/BenQ) currently in consideration. But in the case of Audio I currently own a Sony HT-RT40 still unable to use it fully as mostly I enjoy Movies/Series during nights. So I would like to setup a projector + HiFi Headphones for now. Could you please help with best choices for this? As bluetooth will be limited with it's bandwidth I'm considering wired headphones as well. Or TV headphones with it's own transmitters are of any good?
It's a simple fact, if you throw on a darker surface then the brightness will go down and the black levels will improve whereas projecting on white surface enhances the brightness. The screen manufacturing companies uses a term called GAIN which is between 0.8 to 1.2/1.4 which sometimes is referred to the brightness gain and sometimes to contrast gain, depending upon the screen type.
You just shared basic info available on the net. Not much informative. Eighter change the title of the video saying basics of ALR screen or Please do add some example products available on the market and show comparison otherwise this video has no valuable info to choose a alr screen.

Absolutely. UST ALR screens will always give you good depth than White screens in any scenario

Scrren size is equal to viewing distance/2. is this thumb rule is ok for selecting scrren size

Different Hi-Fi standards have different recommendations. At the end it is up to your comfort zone.

Yes. You can! But you will see a very faded image with the lights on
Make sure that the tab tension screen is a good quality one i.e. no waves or wrinkles or else it will be prominently visible during the projection.

Therefore, in your case the grey screen will be better as Tanmay suggested as the fonts will be crisper.
