    I'm completely sold on doing something on shopify, doing some idea for an app, not sure what yet..
    But my main challenge, is that, I'm not a user at all on shopify.
    I have a development account yes, but without ever having experience being a merchant, day in and day out selling things, and confronting limitations with core shopify, just not sure really, what to create that's already not created.
    I've been browsing the shopify forum, both merchant and developer communities, but there's not much being learned yet.

      We actually have a few videos talking about validating you idea. Would recommend you to watch our free course on how to develop a Shopify app when you are not a developer (even if you are it might help you to figure out some extra stuff): th-cam.com/video/9Dj7LdwP9e8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RuthandEric

    Would you still recommend building a micro saas even if e-commerce is not your interest or you don't have previous background? Because Eric and you have had some experience already as sellers. So I'm thinking I might not have enough industry insights to jump on this

      I believe you can build a Micro SaaS on eCommerce by doing research as well and getting familiar with the niche. However, don't close yourself with eCommerce only. Here is a video on different platforms where you can build a Micro SaaS: th-cam.com/video/3-oYA_lBXeo/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RuthandEric

    Using Shopify is one way to make a saas product. And it has also lot of cons than starting a Saas without a marketplace.
    Using Shopify:
    - You are totally dependant of them.
    _ You need their approval to publish your app you spent month working on. They sometimes ask endless revisions.
    - The support is not helpful, they are not technical people.
    - I also got some friends getting people threatening them to rate your app a 1-star review if not refund is given.

    • @RuthandEric
      @RuthandEric  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's actually on the low end, Apple and Wix for example, take 30%.
      But as I explained in the video- the marketing benefit is so big, if you really want to be a leader in the ecosystem you need to be on the app store.

    I am a MERN stack developer working in a company.but I have an idea about micro saas web app for small business.i am confused about architecture and funding.

    • @RuthandEric
      @RuthandEric  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're a developer, you have a huge advantage to get into SaaS. Sit down and develop your idea yourself/hire a developer if you have the extra money.
      As far as architecture - you can either learn it yourself or hire someone on upwork to do it for you. But if your idea is relatively simple you don't need funding.

    Sorry, but this is stupid and harming future entrepreneurs. There is no such thing as microsaas. It takes the same effort to build a macrosaas as a microsaas, but purpose and motivation only go with the first one. For future entrepreneurs, skip this video.

    • @RuthandEric
      @RuthandEric  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure if you watched the entire video, but I never claimed micro saas is some sort of easy get-rich-quick method. On the contrary, we always stress how it is a business like any other, and requires dedication, effort and risk.
      Also, micro saas is definitely "a thing"- it's a real-life business model, you probably use a lot of micro saas software every day without realizing it. It is simply a product built on top of a larger product, which makes it leaner and easier to ship and market, that is why it's a good option for first time founders and bootstrappers- for all the reasons I explained in the video itself :)
