I completely get what you're saying about missing that feeling. I've been clean since 2010 from my demon meth. But once you find that "feeling" that is amazing, it's hard not to miss it. Do I miss being skinny, not hungry, and always full of energy and a social butterly? Yes. But is my life so much easier nowadays, even though I'm overweight and tired and introverted. My drug addiction was so much highs and lows like a roller coaster, and you feel so good. But it's unsustainable. I'll take my easy boring life every day now. I had so much fun on drugs, some of the best time of my life, but EVERY SINGLE rock bottom low was from drugs. So thankful I got away from that lifestyle. It's weird looking back, because it feels like a totally different person lived that life. The thought of pulling up a shot and injecting myself now sounds so crazy and scary. Back then it was nothing, just another day. Thank God I got out of that! And if I could get clean off IV drug use at 40, so can anyone. If you are still struggling, we do recover. You just gotta work for it. Thanks Ray for sharing your experience, strength, and hope.

Yes! We need to change the energy and light up the world. Ren’s music, reactors like YOU, the Renegade community…we are the ones! And that can light up the next person and so on and so on.
Way to go on almost 9 years of sobriety. 🎉

I always think of Diazepam as a sister song to Chalk Outlines (both are brilliant songs). Absolutely love the guitar break

Thank you Ray for sharing your life experiences...you help others to not feel alone in their struggles. Your understanding of the devastating effects of relying on medication to numb unwanted feelings is so valuable for many people. I appreciate your honesty and courage. I am so grateful you are here with us❤

I love the wisdom that Ren shows in most of his songs. A wisdom no doubt enhaced by his sickness, the misdiagnosis and wrongly distribuerad medications. But listening to many of his old songs, you realise that he probably was a wise soul already from the start, and has only grown wiser by the year.
Thank you, Ray for giving us a reaction worthy of this song and for showing as much wisdom as Ren's lyrics did!

Thank you for a great reaction. A lot of people don't understand how strong diazapan is and how addictive. It can also have frightening side effects such as rage and amnesia. People can be very abusive on it and have no memory of what they've done.

Listening to some of Ren's songs is uncomfortable I will admit that.
But I was never an addict. Loving a person that is an addict is HARD. Trying to be there for a person you love that is an addict is HARD.
I don't want to get too personal because it's family I'm talking about.
It's very difficult to love someone who is addicted.
So for me also it is a sensitive subject. Addiction just doesn't hurt the one that is addicted.
It hurts- God does it hurt- their loved ones.
I experienced heartbreak on a daily basis. For a while.
But things are so much better now.
And I will say this too: In the light of sobriety, the relationship gets better. There is so much more understanding. Because some of the talks between you and them can be really amazing and so healing.
Yes some of those conversations can also be uncomfortable.
But as the non- addict in the relationship, I try to set my ego aside. By that I mean, it's totally natural to want to give advice or try to say something helpful.
However I didn't struggle to get sober. I don't know what that struggle is like.
So to have a person to talk to that did go through that struggle too is also helpful.
I say, "I may not know what to say but I am always here to listen."
And sometimes just having someone there to listen is enough.
Just typing this all out is difficult. Because it is hard for me to say all this.
But I just want to say that the propaganda out there about how addiction only hurts ONE person... Not true. Not true at all. And it is that propaganda that I currently see being pushed that I take very serious umbrage to.
I don't want to say some platitude in closing.
So instead I'll say that you are truly an amazing person Ray, I admire anyone who makes the decision to go to battle with their demons.
Much love 💜💙💖💛 & respect 💯 to you & also to your beautiful family 💕💕💕💕

I understand what you are saying sammy and there are so many people in a similar situation that you are addressing.....Loving and being there for someone who is struggling with addiction. I had a family member who struggled for years until she committed suicide. It was heartbreaking to watch knowing that there was only so much I could say or do to try and "help". Addiction is very painful for everyone involved in that person's life . Ray has great courage ...he knew he had to make a life altering decision and he
found the strength to follow through with it to get himself healthy .
Thank you sammy and everyone else who has shared their experiences....you may have helped someone to realize that they need help and are willing to go through the process to get healthy and improve the quality of their life in beautiful ways.

@@susyq810 I am very humbled Miss Susy Q 🌻💕 by you sharing your own personal (and heartbreaking) experience with addiction.
Addiction has ripple effects. I have compassion for anyone who is suffering and in pain.
I just wish we stopped overtly politicizing medical care & mental health. I think at times the media (and too some politicians) purposely gaslight people and use emotional manipulation tactics to galvanize their voting followers/ supporters.
And when they do that, we have a collective of people who lose sight of the real issue, and too of the ones that are really in need of help.
My two cents only Miss Susy Q 🌻💖 My very sincere & heartfelt condolences to you for your personal loss Miss Susy Q 💖🙏💕
You are a very sweet and dear and kind- hearted person much love & respect to you Miss Susy Q 💖💜💙💛🙏🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕💕

❤What I adore about you and Ren is that you’re brave and aren’t afraid to speak the truth. I’m many years into recovery and this past week I had 2 medical issues where I was offered pain meds, my mind immediately went to memories of sickness, confusion, and GUILT. I’m so proud of myself for being able to say absolutely no thanks. Thank you for another therapy session Ray, I appreciate you so much❤

Ray another great reaction to a very deep but great song by Ren and its good to see your honesty and strength of wisdom shine through, to me personally i think thats what Ren has opened up in a lot of us recently the ability to be more transparent and open and to discuss difficult subjects that affect most if not all of us instead of all the negative mind numbing trash weve been fed by the main stream music corporations for decades...Well done Sir

That drug removed my Dad, m y hero, from me for a year when I was 11/12 years old - no doubt he needed help, but he knew he was an addict by the end of the year. - he was crushing tabs try and come off He spent the next 45 years trusting doctors and talking tablets / tried them for a couple of weeks - got chalk outlines before I heard it.
Rather self medicate at the weekend - not the answer either 😎👍. Ta for your knowledge

This drug is a wonder drug for those who really need it. And, many do. There's anxiety and there's inherited anxiety. Those with inherited, genetic anxiety cannot have a real life without it. It's imbalances in the brain. They need it as much as a diabetic needs insulin. As for addiction. You'll never get addicted to it, if you need it. If you don't, yes, you can. But an addict can find anything to get addicted to. You're right. People with high anxiety, just feel normal with the prescribed dose. An addict is looking to feel better than normal. I was a patient advocate.
