I really like the honda 2015 sound more then the redbull ones, I think how they sounds so good is because the engine sound is backed up by the whine of the gearboxes of the redbull
I think Honda in 2016 was supposedly at the speed of a Renault, decently fast but not as strong the top engine, I think the MP4-31 chassis is the one letting McLaren down

I feel like the 2016 engine was actually fairly good, they reached 340 kph down the back straight. I feel like if they didn’t change engine concept in 2017 they would’ve been onto something. Probably not a championship but probably P4 in the wcc.
@@angel.3006the 2017 redesign is what brought them back to the front. They changed concept because the 2015-2016 design was reaching its peak output and had to. That was from a Honda employee on the forums around that time.

McLaren's ignorance and impatience forced Honda into the wrong development path and made a GP2 Engine. Toro Rosso and Red Bull's accommodation led to Honda developing a WDC engine.
I think that the 2017 McLaren could've been fighting or be very close to the Top 3 if it wasn't for the bad engine they had. A beautiful car that only keeps me wondering of what could've been...

Agreed. I can't believe they ban Cvt, removed auto gearbox, removed TC, replaced those old grippy tyres with very slow slidy grip less tyre, and removed launch control. Now the car are so much easier to drive without all of these stuff.

I think the reason for the change of sound in 2018 is F1 playing around with the microphone placement to make cars sound a bit more exciting!
