Steve Earle, one of today's greatest poets/songwriters, a man who has known incredible personal low's and high's yet still delights with musical genius today
I love this song, man. It tears at my heart from a recovering alcoholic and addicts point of view, looking back over the mistakes I've mad in my life. Y'all sound great together. Gene Bellamy
Steve Earle and the Platinum haired Emmylou Harris singing Goodbye is my favorite version of Goodbye. I have seen Steve Earle in concert three times and have a picture of him and me in my dining room. I saw Emmylou Harris in concert once at the Keswick theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania.

This will forever, remind me of me dear Mum. Annie L. Smith 🎗️ I had not been aware of his music much before it popped up in YT suggestions, from what I've chosen to listen to, I think. I heard this song first. I loved it immediately. I was playing it several times daily after, trying to play my piano and harmonica, along through the song. It's fun. Especially when you you're matching the note ! 🎵 And I don't mean to not mention the lovely voice, and harmony of Ms. Emmy Lou Harris 💙🙏 So, I call me Mum, 90, and say , hey Mum, I have a song that Ms. Emmy Lou Harris sings a duet, with this singer I just heard, you've probably heard, and here's how I translated that, to me piano. I played a about a 20 - 30 second note riff, and me Mum said, I had no idea you could play piano. I thought you just played harmonica. She said it sounded good. Mum. Yeah. Then she said she wasn't feeling well. Didn't know, physically or mentally. She said, that's good, you've found another outlet. And that she'd call me back in the morrow. My Sister called me back the morrow after, Mum's in the hospital, pneumonia. Can't take calls. I'll keep you updated. Next day, dinner hour, she calls and says, Mums better ! Oh man. 🙏( They live about 800 miles away from me. I don't drive. Disabled.) Then about 70 minutes later, she calls and said our Mum, has passed....my heart started racing, me Mum is me only confidant. All my life. She was my teacher, my protector, my conscience, and me guide. And after a few minutes of reality sinking in, sitting alone, I started to wonder, did I say, I love you, did we say... goodbye. So, the song is part of me now. One of us usually said, I love you, and the other said, to the moon and back. 🙏 🇺🇸🏴🇫🇮🇨🇦
Marie Raf Marie, your comment caught my eye, Anna Ternheims' cover is absolutely brilliant. You obviously have a very deep passion for brilliance. The other performances are also outstanding, especially First Aid Kits 'Emmylou' & 'Red Dirt Girl'. I'm in awe of the beauty of music.
Some players set out to imitate Dylan, some take his ideas one step further and make them their own. As great a blues song as you'll ever hear. In the vein of "One too many mornings."
আমি শুধু তোমাকে প্রতি মুহূর্তে মিস করি🥲 দীর্ঘ এবং একাকী রাতে আমি তোমাকে....💑. Lyrics: I remember holdin' on to you All them long and lonely nights I put you through 💑. Somewhere in there, I'm sure I made you cry But I can't remember if we said goodbye But I recall all of them nights down in Mexico One place I may never go in my life again Was I just off somewhere or just too high But I can't remember if we said goodbye I only miss you every now and then Like the soft breeze blowin' up from the Caribbean Most November I break down and cry Cause I can't remember if we said goodbye But I recall all of them nights down in Mexico One place I will never go in my life again Was I just off somewhere or just too high But I can't remember if we said goodbye No, I can't remember if we said goodbye Goodbye goodbye
This wasn’t anticipating an eventual rectification, it was not a mistake, as was the case so frequently 60’s -70’s a situation to say hello again sometimes never transpired

Emmylou’s cover of this on “Wrecking Ball” slays me every time.

I wrote this though it was not an apology for chemical abuse or a one way description for fault

I have loved miss Amy lou from the first time I was blessed to her her voice. I have always wanted to meet her!
Steve Earle and the Platinum haired, angelic voiced Emmylou Harris singing Goodbye is my favorite version of Goodbye.
Lovely song and Emmylou, why are you looking better with the ages ?, you are a stunner.
Great song.
Two talented souls! Thank you for working together!
She is being so respectful ♥

All them long and lonely nights I put you through
Somewhere in there
I'm sure I made you cry
I can′t remember if we said goodbye

love the cover of this song at polar music awards

It isn’t about “forgetting if”, it’s about how many string along dire relationship circumstances without officially terminating all of them
Love. Do not delete or make private

you're kidding
I didn’t write this in any vein, Earle performs per all veins
Probably not a dry eye in that whole house!!

All them long and lonely nights I put you through 💑.
