Eccentric Bottom Bracket for Single Speed & MTB (Adjust Chain Tension, BB Height)

  • Using an Eccentric BB (www.firstcomponents.com/botto...) to adjust chain tension and bottom bracket height.
    If you have an English Threaded BSA bottom bracket setup, you will be good to go straight away with this model. The set fits just like any other BSA 24 threads per inch unit.
    Whereas you normally loosen and adjust your single speed chain tension through loosening the wheel nuts. Once the eccentric BB is fitted though there will be no need for this. The set comes with different sized spacers and a wavy washer along with a dedicated tool for installation and removal. You use a 2mm allen wrench to loosen the three bolts securing the outer casing. Rotating the outer casing allows tension and height adjustment. Once you have the right tension or BB height, simply tighten the 3 casing bolts on either side. The procedure with a mountain bike is similar. You adjust the bottom bracket height in the same way. Loosen the casing bolts. Rotate both sides to the right point. Retighten the casing bolts.

    Could this work with a 83mm crankset?

    Is that a hollowtec 2 crank arm?

    Is it so hard to tell us the range of adjustment? I searched everywhere on your site trying to figure out what the range of height adjust this provides. Literally the only measurement we need to know lol. Why the secrecy? That should be the main selling point.

      The adjustment range is ±2.9 mm.

    Can this be used in a T47 bottom bracket in a steel road bike (standert triebwerk disck) i need to move de crank axle to avoid internal cables on the bottom bracket because this bike is designed for internal routing but they havent considered the mechanical groupsets (housing hits the axle and wears it because you cant mount the bb shel)

    If the adjustment range is ÷- 2.9mm, how does that translate to tooth changes? Is it 2 teeth on a chainring or x teeth on a cog, etc.

    Hello! I have this exact part and it started to creak while pedaling. What can I do to get rid of the creaking? Thank you!

    I think I need this for Vertical Dropouts frame so I can remove the chain tensioner 🎯

    Skipped over the point that the existing/original square taper crankset in this video had to be replaced by a crankset with 24mm axle.
    Also, did not address here or on the First website, what crankset/axle width(s) is needed.

      The 24mm axle diameter is obvious for needing a Hollowtech II crankset

    Hi. Can I know when the P237SA will be back in stock?

    • @firstcomponents
      @firstcomponents  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay but it's very hard to say because of the supply chain disruptions. Getting the parts for this model is proving very difficult and we are in line with a lot of other manufacturers to get the raw components for many of our products.

    Can this fit on any mountain bike? If not what are the requirements?

      Any (BSA/English 1.37") threaded bottom bracket, yes.

    What version would I need to fit to a 2017 Santa Cruz V10 with shimano saint cranks? r247sa or p237SA

    • @firstcomponents
      @firstcomponents  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably p237sa since that Santa Cruz model would have a 'BSA' BB, right? (Not familiar with it). The r247 is for T47 bb shells...

      @@firstcomponents correct, would a 24mm shimano spindle work on the p237sa

      Yes, this BB's ID is 24mm

    The examples in this video's are extremely stupid. The first (blue) frame is a frame where you can tighten the chain already, and the black dropout frame has a derailleur... But this bottom bracket is extremely handy in the combination gear hub (Rohloff etc.) and dropout frame.
