Teabagging is literally a near universal TAUNT in many games that dont technically have a taunt button. It's just regarded as disrespect commonly. I dont really blame him for it but there is a word for it 🤣

I get so sad when someone doesn’t get a word because of spelling, grammar or different tenses used.
Pissed me off. I decided to take this quiz before watching the video just to see how I did compared to these guys, and there were a bunch that i didn’t get because I didn’t have the tense right. Bait, buffer, cancel, dash, and tech were considered wrong because they were missing the ‘ing,’ but then I’d type turtle and juggle and it would give me credit for those.

pokes for me have allways been the long range attack that's fairly safe to throw out in neutral to space the opponent out.

At the end of the day, we all know these words when used in the moment of a conversation, and a LOT of fighting game terms a flipflopped like hitbox and hurtbox, but to actually pull the definition makes your brain go mush
How are those terms flipflopped? They mean 2 different things.

PSA: I am a long time member of the FGC. I grew up playing the traditional fighters. Super Smash Bros. Is the hardest fighting game there is. Melee in particular is the best fighting game ever invented. The best fighting games are the ones that give you the most freedom. Melee took one of the most bravest steps forward in the FGC. The world saw just how far passion takes a game. Fighting is a way to express one self honestly, through movement. No other game does it like Smash. Period.

The only characters with that ability are Ken, Ryu, and Terry and they are mostly meant to bridge the gap between their respective games and smash, so not very many smash players play them and a lot of the people who do play them are smash newcomers who are playing because they want to bridge to other games.

I mean you shouldn’t as Smash players we don’t use most of these terms in our game so it’s alright.
Smash players use a lot of similar but not identical terms, so it's not really disappointing.

It always confused me why smash players call recovery frames 'end lag' like cmon smashers you already say startup and active frames why be weird with recovery
Because recovery is something different in smash, it is the official term for getting back to the stage.
It would be weird to use recovery for 2 different things and weirder to discard smashes official use for recovery for an u official definition.
Recovery/ Recovering is already a term specific to smash (getting back to stage) so why have the EXACT same term for another thing
Oh, true, fair enough. I think it's easy enough to differentiate recovery frames from offstage recovery but I see why now, that didnt really cross my mind. It just annoyed me looking at smash frame data coming over from traditional fighting games tbh 😂

I will fucking die on this hill. There is no such thing as "priority" in fighting games of any kind. You either got whiff punished or counter hit.
Depends on the game. If two normal attacks would hit on the same frame in SFV and one is a medium and the other is a light the medium attack hits. This is explicit priority (H>M>L). In other games without an explicit system one move can still beat another that hits on the same frame if say the hurtbox of the second move is much more recessed than it's hitbox. This is like an implicit form of priority and hence is arguably not really priority(I still think it is, personally). In smash ult, if 2 grounded moves would hit and there is a damage difference between them of 9% or less they clank but if the difference is higher the more powerful move wins. In other games, moves that hit on the same frame always trade. In other games they always clank(or whatever term that game uses for a similar system).
In 3rd Strike, part of what makes Yun's Genei Jin super so good is it gives all his attacks the same priority as a super for the 7 seconds it lasts. This actually came up in EVO 2004 GF after Daigo beat Justin Wong in the famous moment 37. In set 2 game 5, KO has activated his Genei Jin and his special move (Tetsu Zankou) trades with Daigo's Super. Normally this is impossible because supers have the highest priority and would automatically beat a special move that hits at the same time, but Genei Jin subverts that.
@@drurywalker While all true they are all specific cases. Much like marvel 3's projectile priority of basically bullets > fireballs > beams. Then their own power within those terms. But the word "priority" is thrown around a lot in places it doesn't belong. If a move has a good hitbox and a good hurtbox again Marvel 3s infamous footdive. That doesn't mean the move has any kind of programming that says "this will beat this list of other attacks......" It just means it's a move with a big hitbox it can be beat out just like any other move with correct responses. Such as s, super armour.
@@jackg6887 oh yeah, people definitely throw around the word priority incorrectly a lot since they don't really understand the systems at work. I would say that priority IS real (sometimes) but it's also misused a lot.
@@drurywalker Yeah it exists for sure in those designed situations. Just grinded my gears when heard people say "that normal has stupid priority" when they are just talking about a good anti air or poke

Like with the "dashing" question. "Dash" should be accepted as an answer. Same thing for the question about escaping throws. Dumbass quiz doesn't accept "TECH" as an answer, only "TECHING." Like bruh
